I couldnt put Sam's or Tara's beds away ( we had them inside and outside beds ) Tara's bed in computer room hasnt been touched since she passed away in June this year , until recently my CKCS has taken a likeing to the bed she has her own new bed but chose Tara's it brings a bit of peace to me that she likes Tara's bed I gave some things to rescue but there will be things that you wont want to part with for a long time if at all Cant wait for more pics of Harry :)

I need some too I am so sick of lifting Bonnie up and off the bed! Deals direct have some for $24.95 I keep meaning to get some on their free shipping days. Hmmm ... they'd probably fall apart pretty quickly we have a set that is over 2 years old , so not to bad I got those for Tara but she wouldnt use them , but mum's CKCS uses them at mums house and loves going up and down them to the bed I use a plastic storage box covered with a blanket that Lacey my Cavalier uses to get up on my bed .... It's a large one so she hops up on it then pauses for a second then hops up on the bed ... A cheap way of doing it same here I got some non slip rubber mat from Bunnings and placed that over it , so no slipping I used it mainly for Sam ( 38 kilo's ) for when he wanted to get in and out of car , was perfect hight for him

Thanks for the link Yes I was going to get the liquid form , as liquids do work quicker I remember Polaramine well , mum had to take them for her bad hayfever and would fall asleep at the table , they made her so tired I know when I rang the vet I was the one who mentioned the Phenergan as it was the only one had here Luckily Tynka didnt swell in the mouth area but will make sure have a fresh pack of medication " just in case" Thanks for the replies
-
as the title says anything better than Phenergan tablets to have on hand for Bee stings for dogs my Cav loves to chase fly's and while I was further down back yard she was after them near back door sink but when I came back closer I am pretty sure she got stung or tried to eat a bee ( I didnt actually see it ) I have seen her eat a fly before I came back and she was like frothing at mouth ( saliva from constant licking ) of her mouth area no obvious sting mark , no swollen tongue or mouth area breathing Ok I did have Phenergan on hand and rang vet and they suggested 1/4 for her weight asked questions about breathing etc , vomiting and none of that I was at home alone with no transport to a vet at the time I need to update my antihistamines as these tablets where for when Sam loved chaseing bees ( over 18 months ) so any other products better that anyone has tried before I get some fresher medication I use to work in a pharmacy so know what is goood for humans but would like advice on the best ones to have on hand for dogs plus we just found out front of house full of a bees swarming around Thanks

I think I'm not coping because I know no matter what I do, I will lose him in the end. has always come running to me when he's sick/scared - but this time I can't fix it. You have described exactly how I felt ( and others on this thread ) Sadly we cant fix their problem even though we want to I myself didnt see a sign from Tara I did with Sam I picked up on it the night before he passed away at home Tara I remember a few weeks before my decision I said to myself " its time " she had lost weight , and just wandered around looking for me and getting caught in corners It took me a few weeks to make the decsision and then I had to get OH to accept it It was hard that last day or so until the day arrived back in June her passing over was so peacefull for her , she was spoilt more than normal and had her treats as I held in my arms for her final cuddle She looked so peacefull and out of pain , and that vision will stay for me forever I had to do it for her broke my heart and hurts liek hell missing her BUT I know I did the right thing by her and for her to be at peace Dang I have in tears again for what you going through

our back neighbours dog scaled a height of about 9 feet owner not sure why she suddenly started doing it got over 5 ft fence it was raised to about 6 foot then got to stage it was raised to about 9ft , a heavy metal type construction but had small squares in it , so dog had chance to climb it then black plastic was placed over it and she had trouble getting over that BUT she dug under the fence then I use to hear her trying to get over the fence as it rattled and made a noise then would investigate and would find her in our side neighbours yard and call owner to collect her . lucky the poles on the neighbours gate she couldn't grab hold of to get over that so it kept her safe and not on the road one day I walked out to my backyard and she was in my yard , she got under the fence she was determened to get out , as she could hear a puppy over the road from us I didnt hear her the day she came in my yard as it wasnt the normal racket of her jumping over she chose a corner of yard that was covered by a shrub and didnt notice the hole all sealed up and so far she hasnt been out since and no more vet bills to stitch her cut legs up good luck

Hindisght _ we all know sadly our beloved pets will pass away even on a pension we can afford to put a few dollars away per week to help for when that time comes - it all adds up over a few years to help When I rang AWL 2 months ago I asked for a private cremation and was quoted the price what it costs for a group one I didnt ask I did aks how I knew it was going to be just me dog that I get back and was told they have divisions for each private cremation what they do with the bodies I didnt ask they did ask me what I wished to do with our girl , would we like her placed in a Memorial wall or collected by us in a urn etc the AWL picks up from the Vets the body of your animal for free this was told to me by them when I rang IF your pet passes away at home then they will charge $100-00 to collect their body from your home They dont pick up on weekends though , so then need to get your animal to a vet to keep until Mondays this I found out when Sam passed away on a weekend

I had thought of that but cant work out what is different for both of us I never had this problem with my other 2 dogs 1 a Cocker Spaniel and a Border collie cross both here for 15 years mums CKCS I dont have the problem with my girl also came from same Breeder , yet different parents to mum's girl my girl is 7 yrs old ( she was companion for Cocker Spaniel until she passed away ) since she has been here I have noticed when hold her I sneeze and itchy eyes etc she does have a allery to something and scrathces alot have spoken to Vet about it twice and next step is to find what it could be he was the one who mentioned the Dander , she sheds hair a lot me - since she has been here I wake up every morning blocked up and rattly chest and getting dark circles under eyes , which is a sign of allery I need to have a op but they wont take me in untill I can clear my rattly chest this only started after she got here I have lived with family dogs nd cat since a child and never had this before I have lived here for many years and never had this , vet thinks she is the main problem affecting me so I will speak to my doctor also and have allergy tests to give me a answer also thanks for replies

Weight never came into the cost discussion at the time , I was quoted a price twice , once by the vet and once by the receptionist ( who didnt know the weight of dog ) my price was because they charge for a home visit which is to be expected then the PTS price , at the time I thought it was included , but not thinking straight I can see where the prices come from I chose to have her PTS at home in her comfort zone , so the cost of home visit which was my choice and my cost my bill came close to $900 for one day ( I had my 2nd dog checked for something while he was here ) But I did learn some things by all of this check with AWL first about the cremation and what happens and costs , it does save money for those who have trouble with funds when the time comes , cuts out some of the vet charges I beleive it is $220-00 for PTS in surgery ( quoted by 2 vet clinics ) even though I had checked out prices etc , there was miscomunication between receptionist and her boss , which led to extra stress and price quotes and I also on a pension , so it was a huge bill that was a bit under quoted , but I still chose my way of having her home the last time We rent so chose to have them cremated , again my choice and my cost my girl has been gone 2 months tomorrow she was a Cocker Spaniel ) a few dollars put away per week does help with future costs needed

My immediate thought is that yeast is the culprit. Doggy has a yeast overload which is causing her allergies and you are also allergic to yeast which is why you haven't reacted to a dog before. make sure your vet (or a dermatologist) tests the pup for a yeast problem ...then it can be treated .... ( I couldnt get the quote right ) :) I feel like I've heard of sort of desensitisation therapies for allergies. I don't know if it is specific to certain things or not and I don't really know how it works. I'm sure your doctor will have some ideas or refer you to someone who may be able to help Yes you can have that done , I may have to if cant solve the problem The doggie has an allergy? And you are reacting to her? My immediate thought is that yeast is the culprit. Doggy has a yeast overload which is causing her allergies and you are also allergic to yeast which is why you haven't reacted to a dog before. Yes she is allergic to something , and scratches alot as she came from another state I first thought it was the lawn , but not sure now , she sheds hair alot and apparantly it is dander strangley I thought I was reacting to her itching at first , but every morning I wake up I am blocked nose and coughing from rattly chest ,and sneezing and only since she has been here the vet who treated my other girl did say she had a yeast infection under her chin ( redness , itchy etc ) and treated her accordingly but hasnt been mentioned with the visits with this girl but will check into it more and as for me , havent been allergic to yeast or anthing only people who bath in perfume  yes Tibbie it might also be my immune system is down after a rather stressfull last 12 months or so Thanks for the replies

the private cremation fee was only $250-00 no urn , as her ashes placed with our male dog who passed a year before the rest was the vet fee Euthanasia home = $220-00 housecall = $89-00 I was going to be charged nearly $50-00 for transport of her body back to vets so AWL could pick her up I organised for AWL to handle her from vets then we picked her up from there the vet was going to charge aprox $180-00 fee to " shove " her in cold storage and make sure the AWL "get the right dog " when picked up ( his words ) , not my vet anymore either needless to say I rang the AWL and made sure they picked up my girl you can go through the AWL direct once your animal has passed and save charges if needed from the vet
