Tara and Sam replied to labadore's topic in General Dog Discussion
http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDN65156.shtml does look like storms on its way I know how we felt week or so ago when it reached 45 in metro area it was horrible going outside , stifeling air yesterday here wasnt much better going back few summers ago I whent to take Sam and Tara outside and Sam just stood at the door and looked at me as if to say " You must be jokeing " and then walked back inside lol weather like mentioned in this thread is hard for air cons to keep going , if dont have power failures to top it off wet towels on dogs and wet cool neck ties for humans at least helps stay cool and safe everyone -
Heelllpp! I Need Doler Snake Catcher
Tara and Sam replied to Nic.B's topic in General Dog Discussion
I heard once that Napthalene deters snakes ? Nic you are braver than me as I dont think I would still be there I would have stayed inside house I hope you get it sorted out soon -
Buddy was up on a bench attached to the wall, like a shelf. He was attached by a short choker chain. Im not sure of the exact height of the bench. I want to go and see one day but not yet. What sort of person wouldn't see the very obvious danger in leaving him there alone while they went outside for lunch I do hope I didnt bring you more turmoil with my question as it was not intended totally baffled by how anyone could leave a dog in that circumstance and not make sure they are safe As others on here , horrifed and share your pain
-
From what I read, I understand it was the fact poor Buddy was tethered with a choker chain, depending on the way he came to be off the table and that he couldn't support himself and was not checked on for so long, the height of the table wouldnt have mattered a great deal, when you take into account how high the grooming arm would have been. Thank you for explaining , I didnt take the grooming arm into the situation just so hard to comprehend this happening

Some thing has been bothering me after reading this thread and such a tragedy , that I cant understand I do not wish to upset the OP at all ( maybe the answer may also help with any further investigations on this ) how far of the ground / how tall are the grooming tables for Buddy to be found as he was my mobile dogs grooming table would have caused harm to my smaller dog , but not my bigger dog as that table was about her waist height I truly do not wish to upset OP

Has Anyone Heard Of Let Me Go In Sa?
Tara and Sam replied to cornell's topic in General Dog Discussion
I cant remember who told me about her , but I remember it was a very good recomendation of how she spent time with the dog and owner before the deed was done she apparently whent to the home and spent time with the dog playing / patting etc so dog was relaxed with her and talked to the owner explaining things and helping owner with what was going to happen when I spoke to her I was impressed with her I did make the call to her a month or so before Tara was PTS , but when I made my decision I did get my vet to come out to home as I wanted Tara to be home and he had been seeing her regularly that final month , I think she sensed it wasnt going to be good as the visit before she squealed when he gave her a injection ( it had to be blood taken from neck area ) and she didnt want him near her the day it was to happen I was glad Tara was in my arms and at home when she passed over , but next time I have to make the decsion I would go via Marie and if I remember her prices were about what you pay elsewhere -

I didnt remember the name , but once I saw her name Marie and is around the Plymptom area I have heard good reports I did speak to her once on the phone and she sounded such a careing person this was prior to having Tara PTS I beleive she does take all the time you need for both yourself and your loved pet -

aww how lovely was the video of them playing  you are going to have some much fun with those two -
How dare humans expect an animal to have to tolerate being abused this way. Who the hell do they think they are. That was my thoughts also thinking the parents of that child should be charged etc for animal cruelty jumping / sitting on his ribs like that

Betadine Ointment Or Neotopic Lotion
Tara and Sam replied to Tara and Sam's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thanks for the replies it looking better today I never noticed it bleeding at all , even after she did it so last night I used the warm boiled water with salt to clean and then dried and used the Betadine and a light bandage over it " just in case " it bled during the night on my bed Takes notes on the suggestions so I can update my first aid kit as sadly it has been lacking a up date for few years Any other suggestions for a doggy first aid kit ? -

Tara and Sam replied to Tara and Sam's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thank you :) never thought of wrapping it but will do it over night so she cant lick it off -
JUst noticed a cut about 1/4" wide and deep on Tynka's paw pad not bleeding , doesnt appear in discomfort with it looks as though a day old she was biting that area yesterday , but wiggly feet I couldnt see the cut as clear as I could just now only things I have at moment are Betadine ointment or Neotopic lotion What would be best I am thinking Betadine to try first ?

In the 14 / 15 years I had Tara and Sam , I never had one incident with them touching the tree or ordaments or even presents left under there including their stockings with treats in them :) was sad yesterday when put the tree up as the first Christmas without Tara this year she loved to sit and watch me as did Sam and they seemed to know they had a stocking under there for them Tynka hasnt seemed to worry about the tree or presents yet

I had one similar to the one in the pic for a few years Sam and Tara never used them ( although I did have it on the bed lol ) they were cooling when laid on the bed , but as mentione dthey can be heavy to move I need to drag it out again and hopefully my CKCS will use it , as last night she struggled abit with our heat ( she came from Tassie ) mentioned to her vet today about her and the heat and he suggested the portable water air cons as it keeps the air moist which can be better for smaller dogs sometimes better than other air cons which can deplelete the moisture for air thankfully have one of those to use at nights for her also I tried the crystal ones , but found they were quiet wet for them to lay on ? and she sleeps on my bed even though I made a outer cover for it I only wet it for about 15 mins runs of to look at the pola pads site

When Tara was alive she hated thunder storms ( like me ) and fireworks I tried the tapes and playing ball with her at the time but didnt help she would hide in the bathroom or toilet I use to bring her into the bed withme and hold her until she settled down she would go frantic if happen to be outside when it started and would try and get through back door to hide inside thankfully I was home everytime there was a storm one thing that helped her and me in storms was Bush Flower Emergency spray if I knew a storm was coming I would spray around the room we were in prior to the storm , and if a long storm keep spraying it around and it seemed to calm her down and me also I find it very good for stressfull situations
