  1. Do we know which rescue groups will be helping with fostering ?
  2. Woolworths also at Marion shopping centre ground floor level , entrance near the side of Bunnings Morphet Road side
  3. It was around the Strathalbyn area and word has it , it was reported few months back , and only raided today
  4. Very Well put I also have been reading both sides and IMO the threats , slanging match from both sides are not doing any rescue group any help people reading are aware that the Facts and Hype page is obviously admined by either a rescue group or admins , and to people following both pages are starting to make comments on how can any group be classsed as wothrwhile to help or adopt from as the nastiness that is coming out from both sides Agree it is time to back of and let the courts handle it all before more damage is done to rescue groups Just my opnion
  5. All fingers and toes and paws crossed for speedy recovery hugs to Staffyluv and also to sausy.dog I sprayed a few weeds out the back a couple of days ago with some Zero but it has rained since then and I did as the instructions said and didn't give him access to the area for about 4 hours (the bottle said 2 hours or until the product was dry).. Even the vet said it is unlikely it was the Zero as it was a couple of days ago and it has since rained and he only became sick tonight.. I aksed my lawnmower man about these types of sprays years ago and he mentioned that it can stay on what was sprayed for few weeks as it actually gets into the root system and can stay there , even if it rains after the 3-4 hours the bottle says it is ok I didnt get around to checking it out further as didnt use it at all when told that as I had 2 that loved eating grass
  6. Yes ty just whent back and re read as I posted at same time thank you
  7. A question I was also going to ask , as sadly people I know looking for a dog and after reading all the rubbish going around on sites , they starting to think about looking " elsewhere" I would like to get a rescue myslef but not sure who to go through
  8. It only affects them if they take donations from my understanding. That was my understanding also of what have been reading from what have seen you cant ask for a donation but can accept a gift ? that also came to me when started hearing what happening elsewhere
  9. Steve and Snook Ok so let me try and understand this a bit better From some I have read some say the Section 6 has changed and needs to update for it ? so those who have had it need it updated under new laws ( this is all confuisng reading different views ) so If here we donate money towards a animal in need , does this also need a lincence to receive the funds ? or we can give a "gift" I knew you needed licence for fundraising but donations seems also to be a issue that seems confusing
  10. and now it hitting other rescue's in SA ADMIN: I am very sorry to have to make this post, but due to the ongoing politics here in SA at the moment, I have no choice. Effective immediately, ECSA is not able to take on anymore Cockers until further notice. I am applying for a Section 6 licence, but in order to obtain one of those there is also a lot of other paperwork that needs to be completed and it will take some time. ... I'm trying to plan a wedding, establish a small business, run a household, a young family and ECSA all on my own and it's just too much. All the politics over here at the moment between the "big two" and the small rescues is doing my head in. To be clear, this post is relating to donations and funding etc. It only takes one scummy person to report a rescue for any petty thing relating to either of these and I just can't take that risk or put my family in jeopardy. I'm heartbroken over this, and in tears as I put this up. I've been putting it off but can't do so any longer. Hopefully we'll be all "official" soon and able to resume taking Cockers in. COCKERS CURRENTLY IN OUR CARE ARE UNAFFECTED BY THIS AND ALL ARRANGEMENT RE VET CARE ETC. ARE UNCHANGED. I'm so sorry, whoever reported Moorook has started all of this and has a lot to answer for
  11. The sad thing about all of this that is going on it may open eyes for some people as to what goes on in RSPCA and now with private shelters is in the last week I have had 2 people say they would rather look for a dogs from Gumtree or Tradeing Post than any rescue place Sad they cant all work together for the animals
  12. It's so wonderful you got through that horrid experience & are still looking after dogs & enjoying life, as hard as it was for you after that tragedy. I am lost for words after veiwing the video So glad you came through this horendous ordeal and RIP those who whent to the Rainbow Bridge
  13. From the video I saw the rspca did actually say it yes it was good fun mate and was laughing the same time when asked did they enjoy getting there early to intimidate a old lady I believe it was the one taken the morning when no one was suppose to be at Moorook
  14. Any can bet they will start on other shelters after Moorook after all that has been said about them they will try and enforce their powers more
  15. This one also I would like to know if true , as cant find anything more about either yet seems as though a newspaper article http://www.causes.com/actions/1747444-do-not-support-the-rspca-million-paws-walk?recruiter_id=109523489&utm_campaign=sharebar&utm_medium=wall&utm_source=fb
  16. I know when my OH was in hospital for 3 months Sam did fret for him he wouldnt eat after a month or so and was very restless IMO he " senced" something wasnt right partner had been away other times and Sam did not have the same reaction to him not here When Sam passed away Tara was terrible for months after he passed away she walked around smelling for him and looking for him broke my heart to see her walk around with nose in air trying to find him even though they had time apart from each other she did seem to fret badly for him when he passed away at home I led her up to him and she started shakeing terribly and backed away and then whent and hid in the bedroom they may not know the meaning of death as humans do but I am sure they do sence it What about the dogs who stay at the owners grave for weeks ? how does that get explained as to the OP it"s a hard call to make unless in that situation but as Steve said , if make that promise then I would follow it through if I couldnt find a alternative before disussing options with the owner
  17. Lola 'surrended' the dogs after the numerous RSPCA inspectors that were there the first time told her the only alternative was to pay $100 a day per dog which was not possible without putting the welfare of the remaining dogs at risk. So sad for the three dogs that were put down. Tommy was totally blind, due to old age. He had been rehomed about 18 months ago but did not cope in the different environment and as soon as he was returned to the shelter and put back in his run with his 'companion dog' he was happy once again. http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid=585383931490718&set=pb.106267389402377.-2207520000.1363297736&type=3&theater Wombles also looked like an older dog and only had one eye and one ear but looked perfectly happy and healthy in the photo Moorook posted of him enjoying cuddles with one of the volunteers. http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid=585363704826074&set=pb.106267389402377.-2207520000.1363297736&type=3&theater Bear was put to sleep because he was old. No other reason. Having adopted a senior dog myself this really gets me. There is nothing better than giving an old dog the love and care they deserve in their last years. If a dog is old and not suffering there is no reason to put it to sleep Tommy didnt even really look that old from the pic either and to think he was put down because of his blindness especially when he was copeing with it at the shelter with his friend he and the others would have been terrified in their last days at the RSPCA so sad to be PTS because of the age Glad the RSPCA doesnt look after our elderly humans
  18. the local councils themselves, who regularly dropped of animals for her to care for. Up until only a few months ago, the District council continued to drop of strayed and dumped animals, although I had to remind them with receipted proof, because the mayor and the CEO appear to have forgotten this fact. A receipt from the council has clearly recorded drop off’s to Lola on a regular basis of up to 12 dogs at any one time. So seems the council were overloading her 8 animals 7 dogs and one kitten were taken in the most based on age and past injuries, 4 dogs were ordered to be taken for Vet inspection, of which all 4 passed with flying colours Three of the seized animals were put down, based on old age and not health concerns, ie; eyesight, ages and other general issues relating to dogs of their age group Tommy had been blind for a few years and lived happily with his friend at the Shelter another one was also PTS for being older dog and the other one had a leg removed years ago and was PTS even though lived happily there so sad PTS for the age
  19. What gorgeous photos you have Its been 8 months today that Tara passed over and I still havent moved her bed or her toys it gives me comfort to have them around still Little things like her toy Rosella that talks ,I stepped on it the other day and I turned and looked for her almost as if she was here I have had trouble coming back to the Rainbow Bridge thread as it too hard at times There is one that is our real heartdog and we will never forget them to you and all others who have lost their loved ones it took me over a year to move some of Sam's bedding , but in our own time
  20. Wendy I am so sorry to read this such a lovely tribute to Brianna my heart breaks for you knowing how much she was your heart dog such a beautifull girl taken to soon Run Free Brianna
  21. aww she is so gorgeous congrats on your new baby girl and yes lots of photos
  22. I know, my old Belgian Tervueren used to sleep under my bed and snore like a foghorn. It took me months to get used to sleeping without her there. Can also relate to that After Tara passed away it is different my new girl sleeps on the bed and snores loudly , but missing Tara's snuggles is hard
  23. I wouldn't do it especially after I heard of a 14 yr old blind cocker spaniel who was taken from where she was tied up by her elderly owner while he whent into the shop to get his few groceries apparently it was a regular walk for them both , but sadly one day she was taken and I beleive hasnt been returned
  24. Sam had a problem with wetting quiet a few times he soaked his bed once while he was asleep and while we were sleeping I thought as he was 13 yrs it was just incontinance he did have HD and when vet checked him out he also had lower back problem ( a disc pushing on lower spine ) which caused him to wee while asleep while he was relaxed and asleep that was when he did it , instead of trying to get up with pain occasionlay when he was awake he had small wees , because he didnt get up to go to back door once on some medication for his back , his problem whent away although I did have waterproof blankets on lounge or spare beds "just in case " as much easier to wash Hope you feel better soon
  25. awww she is gorgeous many wonderfull days and nights ahead for you all :)
