  1. the reason I notice it because they have never smelt this bad in all the years with what they been haveing Yes I knew after joining DOL , and hearing about Pal , that it wasnt the best , but as they were settled on it along with home cooked , and vet said they were healthy etc , we kept to this diet even with christmas times , the extra meant in house , doesnt get given to dogs Will get them back on yoghurt , as they both dont have a problem eating the plain one Schnackos they only have 1 strip at a time , which is probally once a week or more than a week I did find out how salty they were after a thread when Tara stole a few packets and ate them Yes puggy puppy , we did stil use it , as mentioned , but also made sure I had home cooked as main diet No ,, you not picking on their diets as mentioned it appearfs to have been fine for them , but also thought myself as they are seniors , maybe it was the diet , hence my asking advice here I have at times given fresh chicken mince ( pet quality) and other times also cooked it upwith vegies the other mince is always human quality I also started to think maybe as they getting older , a gut problem would be starting to occur Tara is the one who normally can have a dicky tummy , she had that from a puppy when she had a egocola ? problem well its, bad enough for me to walk out the room Sam is due for his annual checkup in the next month , so will definately talk to vet about it also , if he doesnt become "sweeter" smelling appreciate the advice , knew I could count on the advice Thank you
  2. I have 2 dogs 1 is 12 1/2 years old they have had the same diet for nearly 12 years , and according the the vet is good healthy dogs , good coat etc their diet consits of can food ( Pal ) it was introduced right from puppies, so if anyone else had to feed them it would be easier ) I also cook up mince , vegies , rice or pasta , potaotes , pumpkin etc the above is swapped around during the week bones - chicken necks , marrow bones etc treats can range from a schmacko or bonio bones or pig ears dry dog food this has been their diet for the last 12 years , and never had this problem ( occasional bed smell ) what I have noticed in the last week or two , is the flatulence in one dog in particular it is that BAD that we have to walk out the room currently he is sleeping in laundry , and the odour has come through the kitchen and into my pc room some nights it is that bad I have to get out of bed and leave the room could this be a underlying problem why would this be so bad lately when nothing different has changed he doesnt appear to have any trouble with his bowels , or breath or bad teeth , appears all fine apart from stinking the house out any advice Please , before contacting the vet Thanks

  5. We watch our dogs , pets ,loved ones . family , furkids grow via the DOL Community we see their funny antics we see their problems we see their good times along with the bad times we see the senior's who have loveing homes towards the end of their lives we see the young ones who pass over the bridge way to early we have seen the heatache of tragic circumstances the heartache it brings to the families , the emptyness we all cry with you at the loss of your loved ones I know there will be a day I will have to post in here , and I will share your pain and loss and heartache May I say R.I.P to all the loved pets
  6. Sam has had HD for the last 9 yrs, ( he is 12 yrs now ) so far the vet hasn't mentioned arthritis , he has had Cartophen injections over the years about a month ago the stiffness came back in his hindleg when getting up 3 weeks ago we started him on Wagners Joint Forte powder and Natures Own Omega 3 Fish oil caps 1,000mg and have noticed a vast improvement for him
  7. Cocker spaniel gets washed in my bathtub with hand held shower nozzle , towel dried , and in summer she then chases a treat ball around yard to dry off completely , in winter after towel drying she lays on the bed while I dry with hair dryer she gets groom clipped and bath just before summer for comfort in summer the male dog ( shorter coat ) is too heavy to lift into bath tub , so I get buckets of warm water taken outside , he stands on the lawn and we wash and rinse that way , ( he hated the groomers washtub and struggles terribly ) after his wash he gets towel dried and drys quickly he loves his bath where as little girl really doesnt, but she does stand there until finished inbetween baths , they get towel bath
  8. Thanks Steve , very interesting and helpfull information
  9. Wow, there is certainly some good results from the EPO by the looks and the sounds although my 2 dont have allergies . it certainly sounds wonderfull from all your comments of to check the site out
  10. C3 here in Australia is Parvo, Distemper and Hepatitis. C5 Includes Viral and Bacterial components of kennel cough. C4 also contains Kennel Cough ? or so I was told by our vet 11 yrs ago , and have always had C4 given this year he gave C5 without really asking us first
  11. Thanks Rubiton , will check in a few well Tara was back at vet again today ( 5th visit in 4 weeks ) she had only 2 days earlier finished the Ensal liquid and Prescription ID food , for her runs she had then last night she threw up twice and looked terrible and didnt look any better this morning he beleives she doesnt have a gastro , no temperature apparently she "may" have a intollerance to something so now we back on the Hills Prescription ID food ( 4 small meals a day ) for 3 days with Metomide injection and tabs then some Hills sensitive tummy dry food , and then we start the ellimination process of what food is causeing this so far so good today after her small meals , no runs or vomiting up , but will see what happens after she finished the medication again I do hope the other dogs also start to feel better soon
  12. Thank you for the replies I wouldnt even have a clue ( got a rough idea where to place thermoeter ) , but not game to try it myself she gets checked at the vets the last visits and was told no temp , but after last night when she really didnt look well , it got me thinking if there was a way to check via her body after another vet check today , her temp was ok I like the look of the one posted on the link , but alas it is way out of my range at the moment after her vets bills
  13. How can you tell if a dog has a temperature if you dont have a thermometer to use in the appropriate area is there any other ways to check her body to see if she has a temp ? thanks
  14. Adelaide here also and you have described my girl's problem you said "suspected " can of dog food , may I ask what brand it was my little girl also had watery poos then formed but very soft ones , with blood also bland diet of chicken , rice , potatoe etc no other treats or similar after a week of good poo's , slowly introduced her can food back , next day again sloppy poo's back to vet and onto Ensal liquid and Hills prescription ID can of food for 3 days , all was fine then tonight introduced small amount of can again with chicken, rice , and since tea she has thrown up twice and not her usual self she also has had this for just over 3 weeks she even had a total blood work done and all was fine my other dog is fine though ( so far ) you dont visit the Marion vets by chance ?

  17. hi chuckie still not sure what exactly is was the vet thought it might have been a bite , but had no other symptoms for a spider bite we have a new vet in the practise now , and she rang for a follow up of how he was doing , and I asked her about should he have had any other symptoms with a spider bite , and she said not always , but she does think it was more of a graze It looked like when you slice the top of your finger , and it goes weepy and red , moist etc , , but I kept bathing it with boiled warm salty water and some tabs she gave us , and it has all healed up now so it still a mystery as to what it actually was the first day he limped I couldnt see any problem, but the 2nd day , with the help of a magnifying glass I could see the wound I did also have a thread in General about spider bite or not ? and got some very interesting and good responses http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=122112

  19. wanting some advice Please , on what "might" be as vets closed my male dog . is limping on his front right leg he even had a wobble when he lifted his back leg for a wee he was lifting his front paw off the ground as though couldnt stand on his foot I have checked his paw out , ( with a torch and magnifying glass ) I cant see any bite , prickle or grass seed , no puncture marks in between his pad does seem quiet red he has been licking it alot today , even though have tried to stop him I am wondering if it might be some type of fungal problem , as we had some warm humid weather last few days ( similar to tinea on a human ) that can sometimes be itchy , hence his licking of it or could he maybe have pulled a muslce , although I wouldnt have thought he would be licking if the muscle was hurting ? I have been bathing his paw in warm boiled salt water for tonight if no better by Monday he off to the vets thanks
