I have been taking my dog to the Vets to get washed & tested for Mange over the last month. When I picked her up today, they said they think she has KC as well. Last night she was gagged (thought fur-ball etc) a couple of times & that was it. I have heard no coughing since we got home from the vets. Apparently the Vets have seen lots of dogs with it in the last couple of weeks & my sister's 2 dogs have it (my dog hasn't been in contact with them though). If she has got it she may have got it at an off-leash area on the weekend?? They gave me instructions for Benadryl but said they wouldn't give her antibiotics unless she got worse. I guess Obedience School is over for a month or so.

Try taking him to an off-leash area (fenced) to experience other dogs. My staffy pup sometimes pees if a big dog runs over to sniff her when we first get there but after that she is off & running & having a ball with the other dogs. We also do obedience but have only been doing that a few weeks. She is 5 months now & have only been to the off-leash areas 3 times.

My staffy is now 5 months & doesn't touch the washing. Sometimes it is on the line for days & she still doesn't touch it. When I first got her I made it a habit to hang the washing up with her being present & would say sternly "Don't you touch" etc. Hopefully she will continue being good. I tried doing it this way because I had a Dobe that always pulled stuff off the line until he was about 6 years old. My father actually fenced the yard off into 3 areas but when I moved out, I wasn't able to do that.

Good news. It has fallen out somewhere today. Her breath is much improved as well

My 20 weeks old pup has one last puppy canine tooth that won't fall out. It's replacement can be seen coming through the gums beside it. The puppy canine has turned brown. Should I just let nature takes it's path or get the vet to pull it. She will be desexed in a bit over a months time, which is probably too long to wait to save on Vet's bills. What do you reckon?

You know you'll have to keep us all informed of what happens now

how is that funny? I find that very selfish of the man and very unfair.. .... The situation my friend is in is not funny & I & plenty of people have told her so. The laughing emoticon is because of the comment by the original author of this topic assuming her OH will help out if they have kids. Not everything is as Rosie as you would like it to be.

A friend of mine's husband bought her a dog. He does nothing with it, just says "It's your dog". Now they have kids, & he is the same with the kids. His beer & Foxtel is more important. My friend does everything, so don't think having kids will change him

Advanced House/toilet Training
joebloe replied to Stitch's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I read on an American dog training website that you can train the dog to ring a bell near the door when they want to go outside. Might be an idea?? -
I had a Dobe that used to do this. My father ended up building various fences in the backyard to block him off from the clothes line & other areas. When I moved out of home & bought him to Sydney, he did it occasionally. Then I moved house with my brother & my Dobe took a liking to his work shirts. After destroying a few & costing me money to replace them, next time he did it, I picked it up of the ground (he was actually lying on it) & whacked him around the head with the shirt whilst chastising him. He never did it again after that. I think the long sleeves etc flailing around him must have scared him as it wouldn't have hurt him.

Hi, After almost 2 years after my last dog died, I am getting another dog. Seeing it is such a long time since I had a pup, I was after advice on what to feed, when to feed etc. I am getting a Staffy bitch (@ 8 weeks) & pick her up in 2 weeks. She was having her first needle this week & I am also enquiring as to the scheduling of their needles as well & what age should she be de-sexed? :D Thanks in advance joebloe.
