Contact today tonight or A current affair,they love stories like that and they will really damage the vets name. Sure vets might get burnt everynow and then, but no more than a plumber ( you dont pay upfront if you have an overflowing toilet that needs fixed!) or mechanics or any 'service' that you pay after the event. But to also do it at such a vunerable emotional time is barbaric. vets have credit collectors, just like any other business and they should use this to get what is due to them. Holding you to ransom like that is horrible.

When I got Ruffles desexed recently, one of the pre op inspections they did wash check for retained puppy teeth. They also checked for a umilical hernia as well. I suppose they think that they might as well do all the 'nasty' thing when under genrel. Ruffles got a clean bill and they said she had a 'perfect smile' .

Yes, my parents Maltese who is now 12 years old has been having fits averaging one ever month or so since about the age of 1 and a half. The Vets have done heaps of tests on her, blood work ect and have never been able to find anything . Occasionally she has a 'bad day' and has a couple of these fits all together. She goes stiff as a board and for a little while and then starts to shake and pant and has a 'glazed look' then she if fine!. It drives my parents and I crazy with worry and then she migt be free from them for a couple of months!. They have never really incresed enough to experiment with medication and have not affected her quality of life so the vet has always thought that if it gets worse then they will investigate it a bit more, It has never gotten worse and all othe ways her health is great for a 12 year old. My Unlces staffy had bad epilepsy and had to be put down at a young age . She was such a wonderfull girl but she was have 2 or 3 fits everyday and her medication was not working. Hopefully your little girls remain uncommen ;) .

Terrorbull Im with you, . I have been reading through alot this posters threads and also gettting rather suss. For one thing the poster has 'bad english skills' but her grammer and spelling seem rather good . She asks questions that most children would have the answer to. Honestly what person does not know that when a dog sticks it tongue out thats its panting because its hot? thats its a total normal behaviour? ask any 6 year old child and it will give the correct answer. yep deff suss. please prove us all wrong by posting some cute puppy pictures, and we can dismiss all are paranoid (troll????) thoughts and instead turn as all mushy .

HI I followed to thread you made about your little pup on EB forum and Im glad you have came here to get advice from here, this is a great place to learn heaps of information on caring for your little darling . Every one on this forum is very passionate about dogs so hearing about your friends neglect and careless ways truly disgusts us. Just a couple of questions. How commited is your friend to her dog. Is she is very ignorant? or really doesnt give a hoot about the condition of her dog? does she have the time and money to care for its well being? would she be interested in learning about responsible dog ownership? since she didint sell the pups, she is not interested in making money, so why did she breed?. If you dont think she is truly able to care for this poor dogs needs, proper health care and desexing, feeding ect. then I would strongly advice you to encourage her to surrender the dog to the RSPCA. Hopefully the dog would be able to be rehomed. If you think your friend is just ingorant and naive, and does love to dog and has good intentions, perhaps point her in the direction of this forum so she can be educated about responsible dog ownership. I remember reading on your EB thread that she wants to breed more in the future :D . Surely this experience shows why dog breed should be left to the professionals? Im so glad that the other pup has found a loving home. Remember with your pup, early socialisation is a MUST with a pup that leaves its mother and litter mates so young.

Honestly? I think it would be fine. Yes its gross, but dogs eat gross things!! how many dogs dig up rotting bones and munch on them?. My first Cairn terrier Scotty greatest passion in life was catching mice and Rats, he wouldint eat them, but certainly gave them a good munch before spitting them out ;) . Never got any diseases or anything, all terriers were bred for this, great little Ratters, Unless your dog is ill and has a bad immune system then I dont think it would cause any harm ,

Oh she looked like a llittle sweety!, little Jenny I know your happily running with the other dogs their on Rainbow bridge, Say Hi to my old fella Scotty, Not sure but looks like there is a fair bit of Cairn in you?, he is another Cairn whose old aches have also vanished and is know young again forever chasing those pesky vermin in the grass.

Oh another thing I just remembered about this book that had me shaking my head in disbelief, this book said that staffies are NEVER suitable for children, , at this stage I slammed the book in disgust!!!. My extended family and sister have had a couple of staffies over the years, and they are the most fun loving goofballs I have ever met! and EXCELLENT with children, very very trustworthy, over all it was a very crap biased conservative book that gave the impression that children should only own goldfish!

This thread has reminded me of a book I was reading in a bookshop the other day (I know I know a bookshop is not a library LOL ) . The book was titled 'children and dogs' or something sounding like that, and it had a list of all breeds of dogs and what age the youngest child should be before considering it. MOST terriers were over 8 years of age . My beloved Cairn terriers were not suited for chidren under six, which I find strange considering all I had researched ect said they were very patient hardy terriers that were forgiving for toddler mishaps, and with Smithy and my 2 and half year old toddler he has been a total saint!!!. I think the main thing is for dogs to be raised with young children and for children to be taught how to respect them, and vice versa. I think this is why generalizing breeds of dogs is a very wrong thing to do.

Smithy is a hard coated terrier that is weather resistent and all my research has discouraged Cairn terriers being bathed more than a couple of times a years as this breaks down and "softens" the coate. I also cant use leave in conditioners as this makes a greasy mess. This is what I do that has been recomended by breeders. groom frequently to get rid of dead coate that is old and stinks. If they do get smelly spray the coate with water and a couple of drops of essential oil (I use lavender). An alternative is spray with listerine mixed with 2 thirds water (interesting smell, I use peppermint flavour one, I only use in smelly emergencies, normally when poo is involved ). Personally I think doggy perfumes are over priced (like so many other thing involved with dogs) and a bit of essential oil works just as well, and it costs about 2 dollars at the reject shop.
