  1. I did go back to the first page and look at the links..Now look like a dummy for not editing my post
  2. Thanks Huski. I have printed out that page you linked and highlighted the part relevant to his dog. Also phoned and left a message for Steve to call me back.
  3. As the topic says I need suggestions. I need to go to my partner tonight with all information at hand about options for his dog. Council have advised she is escaping and bailing up people in the street. This is now serious and needs immediate attention which we will be discussing all options tonight. I have got fence ideas, containment ideas and legislation to show him what would happen to us if this continues. I just need some reccomendations for trainers/behaviouralists that can address the fearful/aggression. Thanks guys.
  4. Here is Ramses nice black summer nose. And his not so nice winter nose-
  5. How do you run a live wire on the top of a fence? We have an elec fence and an escaping dog and as of yesterday a council note from the ranger so we need ideas to keep her in. If we could use our existing electric fence that would be beneficial to us than having to fork out more money in extending the fence somehow- We are only in this place for 12 months then hopefully buying so whatever we dog needs to be somewhat temporary.
  6. Thanks for that Tassie. I was rewarding him yesterday when he was in position and either looking at my face, not my hand or just in position and looking ahead. As he is a leg follower not a face dog. (Hope that makes sense)
  7. He gets lots of praise and off lead ball game once the training is over. Food or balls and training is out of the question It was our first session in a long long time ever using food so considering that he worked well. I will continue to reward with food for the next few weeks and see how we go.
  8. Well I trained yesterday the figure of 8 with treats. He turned into a nuTtso, kept jumping up trying to get the treat out of my hand...Which I ignored and only treated when he was in position and not anticipating the treat. I used my voice a lot too which helped. He is liking this training thing lately now I understand what Im doing better his tail wags the whole time! I wanted to neaten his recall too. He runs up to me but doesnt sit close enough or straight enough for my liking yet. So thought Id use a treat however he thought he had it all over me and when I said his name he stood up from the sit anticipating the call. So after 4 goes of sit, wait, Call name, stand, put back into a sit repeat he finally got it that he couldnt come until I said COME! I will be doing a similar session this afternoon and will see how he goes. The reason I dont use treats normally is because of his craziness around food! But will see how we go.
  9. Oh that matched my backyard today. The lasagne tray, chicken bags, meat trays, icecream container and the chip packets were all licked clean! All because my dumb bf put the bag of rubbish in the wrong bloody bin since the 3 bin system was introduced!
  10. Is he only lagging on the outside bend or the whole way around? At the start I encouraged her to be fast around the outside bends by a blend of luring, exaggerated body language, moving faster, making noises like a high pitched "quick, quick, quick!" and throwing food forwards. Then I would C&T when she was in the right position and gradually faded all that over time. Also make sure your shoulders are facing the right way and you are not dropping them to look at him when he is lagging Mostly around the bends. Im going to try treats today because I train with voice and praise and my voice isnt exciting enough for him in the 8 C&T ?? Ill take notice of where my shoulders are--No doubt dropped and turned toward him Ill see how we go this afternoon and report back. Dog training was cancelled on Sat due to the wet weather so we only have 3 sessions before the trial. If we can tidy up the figure of 8 and our left about turns Ill be happy!
  11. How do you train for a neat figure of 8? Ramses will follow round but lags behind no matter what pace Im doing it in.
  12. I cant answer your question RS but your girls work beautifully! Love the videos. I took a short clip of training yesterday on my phone. It was a drop stay with a distraction. Im making the stays in training hard for him so that I can know 100% that he wont move. This is his favourite kid running around making noises and calling his name. I timed it for 3 mins and he didnt move a muscle. :D I hope this works Its a FB link so only people with FB can see it at the moment. Its on my home computer which I will upload it to youtube when I get home.- Linky pie
  13. We tried something different tonight. Change of position. We started this years ago but I never kept it up. So sat him in the kitchen because its too too wet outside, then stood right in front of him and made him drop, then asked him to "up" with a hand signal so he goes into a sit. Surprisingly after 3 attempts he got it good! So happy with how he is working at the moment. He just needed a few days to refresh his memory now we are nearly the team we need to be to trial!
  14. All in good time for the meeting hahaha. She would pull out all the stops. Milk watered down as a treat. The day she did that after being told not to I said to her (In a joking way to not upset her) when the dog has explosive poops all through your house you can clean it up! Needless to say milk is no longer on the menu. But you know its all about healthy bones
  15. She reckons the roo meat has worms and isnt healthy for them unless its cooked. I just ignore most of what she says in regards to the dogs and what we feed them. She continues to buy dry dog food because its on special. We have 2 15kg bags sitting there for 'emergencies'. Dont get me wrong she is a lovely lady but we just have extremely different views on dogs which have become ever more evident since moving in with her Not to mention the dogs mainly get chicken or beef and not roo
  16. My bfs mum is a cracker for saying these annoying, 100% wrong things about dogs and feeding them. She doesnt agree with us feeding raw food to the dogs and occassionaly likes to make it known. When talking about adding pasta to the raw mince- "You shouldnt feed pasta to German Shepherds because I read when researching GSD's they dont like pasta. Rice is ok though its very good for them" When talking of different raw foods we feed the dogs "Oh Ill go and get them some roo mince. But you have to cook roo mince they cant eat it raw." In relation to the GSD being half trained and let get away with murder, I.E Dogs in loungeroom have to be calm and relaxed sitting or laying down, not pacing around and into everything like she is- "Oh she is just a nosey parker, likes to know what everyones doing and where everything is" That one annoys me the most. I feel like screaming at her "No! Its because your son has stopped putting in the effort into a difficult dog who NEEDS structure, discipline and training that she wont obey a stay command!!" She just doesnt understand. What have you heard in your time?
  17. Im with you then. We walked int he rain the other day and did a training session in the rain. He didnt like it but happily obliged and loved his free run around the park after the training. Its all a good distraction excersize. Means if its raining and wet when we trial it wont bother him and thats good enough for me to get soaked! I used to melt in the rain but for some reason my crazy dog lady hat has been on and I go out in anything now. Except lightning
  18. When siging into the online member section your name must be written exactly as it is on your DOGS NSW membership card. E.g if Miss JILL G BLOGGS is how your name is on the membership card it must be written exactly like that on the login page.
  19. What do you guys take to an obedience trial thats a couple of hours away from home? Apart from the dog Since swapping dog clubs and training on a Saturday it means we get 4 trial ring specific training sessions before the Aug trial which makes me feel better! Another question- I understand if your dog has a title in one ring it must not compete in that ring and must go into the next ring. What happens if you enter a trial say in CCD and the dog gets all its passes and can compete in the CD ring but your next trial is entered in CCD? eg- Ive entered 3 trials in September and am wondering if I enter a 4th (assuming we bomb this one in Aug) but we pass and get into the CD ring will we be moved to the right ring? Hope that makes sense.
  20. Ramses nose goes pink every winter. I love summer when his beautiful black nose is back.
  21. I called it a day as I didnt want to push the 'friendship; lol Id known her for 5 mins lol. Will be getting it solid tomorrow though.
  22. We went to a different park today which had some kids on the swings and along with the mum, nan and their dog so was good for a bit of distraction. He did really well. I was very happy! The lady with the staffy came up to talk to me about what we were doing so I utilised the situation and asked her to do a stand for examination for me. She was a bit over zealous with her patting and he thought it was a good game so moved around to lick her. Shall be practicing that with some more people! Tomorrow we are meeting up with Dotty on here and her Aussies to do some group training and Ill be doing the down stays and sit stays surrounded by the aussies to get an idea on how solid our stays are. Then on Sunday Im meeting with a trainer friend of mine who is going to run us through our paces and give me an unbias opinion on how we are going. Saturday we are also going to a new dog club to join in their trialling class which will be good.
