Ramses didnt technially loose a tooth at 9 weeks he was absolutly shredding a soft toy and he snapped his canine tooth. I rang the vet and they said keep an eye on it the nerve was showing and it was bleeding. It eventually turned a weird colour and fell out a few weeks later :D He didnt actually start legitamatly loosing teeth until about 15-16 wks old

Hi everyone I am going away for a weekend with my family and Ramses is coming We are going into what ive been told as a 'high tick area' and was wondering appart from using tick treatments before and after if i do come across a tick on him how do i successfully remove the whole tick? I do not leave in a tick area so i have never come across removing a tick before so this is new to me ETA What treatment do you recommend that id be able to put on before and after the w/e away? Thanks in advance

Vacinations - Just A Bit Confused - Please Help
spoilt lab lives here replied to Taipan's topic in Puppy Chat
I dontmean to hijack the thread or anything but.... The last injection? Does it have to be given or is it optional because i only got Ramses done at 12 weeks aswell as the normal 6wk one from where i got him. I didnt get the third one done because most instructors at the dog club always say first 2 for the dog last one for the vet So basically is it ok to get the first 2 and then the yearly booster and skip the 3rd one?? -
How Much Does Your Dog Eat?
spoilt lab lives here replied to Kirty's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My baby gets 3 cups a day (1 1/2 morning and night) supercoat working dog as we train for GWT pretty much everyday and we go for hikes in all the bushland around here. sasha my JRT X silky terrier gets 1 cup optimum senior dog food she is 10 on 11.11.06. They both get yoghurt, eggs, sardines and appropiate table scraps (feed on a 'roster' like system eggs wednesday, sardines sunday yoghurt most meals and dinner scraps every night) Plus big bones. Ok so that is a bit over 28 cups to feed my two a week and roughly 112 cups per month :D no wonder i buy the food in 20kg bags ETA thats 1344 cupds per year -
Im no expert or anything but i trained ramses to walk nicely on lead like this . walk along and the minute her head passes your kneee walk in the opposite direction straight away puppy wont want to be left behind so should catch up pretty quick keep doing this everytime she pulls. so basically *head passes knee turn and walk in opposite direction* Have fun puppy training

How To Grade Your Dog's Food

:p Awwww you'll love it I nearly broke me ankle several times when i fell down a hole in the middle of the night Im with you gotta!! Ramses has a hole that is big enough to burry him in :p Ihave to laugh because NOTHING stops him he even has his own sand pit where the pool used to be he gets bored with it and digs the grass Fortunatley nivia and flycow they do (might ;) ) grow out of it in the next 2-3 yrs or you could be stuck with a gorgeous, big, boofy, hole digging like a puppy fully grown adult lab ;) They are beautiful but as they get bigger so do their paws and holes! I tried everything but he is destined to be a digger because he also has a 10 yr old sidekick, they both dig holes together (the dogs) licky Sasha is only a small dog but small holes are the ankle breakers Good luck with all the joys of owning a lab

when you say "farm" do you mean a farm where they have cows or sheep and the dogs have lots of room to run around and get looked after? not a "puppy farm" I assume when you said about papers for the pups, you meant pedigrees through the canine council and thats why she didnt have papers for the pups? I am not a breeder but from what i have been told is you need to have a kennel prefix to be able to sell the pups with papers, someone correct me if im wrong please Just needed to clear things up with the last post m575

Well said, i was trying to put in a way that didnt make me sound like the english department. It is my pet hate so hopefully she takes what you said and types properly 1) Why did you get 2 puppies of the same sex? Did you consider what it would be like when they're mature or maturing? 2) All dogs need training 3) You choose a fairly high maintenece breed.....these guys need mental stimulation & training.....you'll soon find out what happens if you do not provide this. 4) My 2 sound and look like they're fighting when they're playing.....you may want to spend a bit more time with them in these situations so you can interpret for yourself whether it is play or something a bit more than that. Yes was there a reason you got 2 females out of the same litter? They are only young puppies so at the moent they will sound like they are tearing each other to shreds but really they are playing like they did at the breeders house, you could run into problems as they get older with trying to establish the pack structure betweent he two of them and in my experience that is when they tend to form an aggression towards each other, but like i said that was IN MY experinece

I have had an experience with 2 females getting nasty. Last yr Holly my BC pup attacked Sasha 10yrs JRTX silky terrier , if Sasha did roll in submissivness she would have been ripped apart by holly. Holly had showed some aggression to other dogs on her daily walks, but none to sasha 3 days after my birthday Holly (8 months old at the time) went sasha(now 10), after we eventually got hol off sash i locked her in the dog pen to cool off. Checked sasha over and she didnt break skin(i dont know how except for the rolling). Next day put sash inside and let holly out and holly went her THROUGH THE DOOR! I was devestated i loved her os much and she went and did that. After that i wanted to know why she attacked her, what caused her to do that, what i did to cause her to do that. 12 months on and i know how many mistakes i made with her. Ive learnt soooooooooo much from then, i now have a beautiful labrador ramses and he and sash are great friends. Ramses goes to training every week, he is extremely well socialised and i have made sure that he has a sound temprement to grow into a sound adult dog. He is 8 months and 25kgs, Sahsa is 10 yrs and 7 kgs and she is top dog, he knows he is under her in the pack. Sahsa is so scared around female dogs now she rolls and her belly when the female ddog looks at her so to cause her less stress she is never around female dogs unless on our walks and even then she still yelps and is quite scared of them. I dont mean to scare you just letting you know what happened to me when i had 2 females together;)

Labrador Pup Has Big Belly And Spewin
spoilt lab lives here replied to foxy0711's topic in Puppy Chat
my lab puppy thats also 7months gets a really big tummy when he gets into the shed and eats allthe food thats left over in the dog food bucket. If you let him he will eat 20kgs in one sitting, (doesnt get in there anymore i've stopped that) but he goes through the same thing after he eats it all he will be puffed up for a few hours then he'll have a huge diareohhrear(spelling?) and let some gas and then his stomach will go down, but he still has diareohhrear for about a week. As for the onions i would really be careful with onions because in some cases they can cause anemia. Watch him and if it happens again take him to the vets for a quick check up -
When Will He Stop Squatting
spoilt lab lives here replied to spoilt lab lives here's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
PANDII yes he got desexed on monday 17 july. the only reason i asked is because i thought it was normal for boys to cock their legs. I now know i have nothing to worry about, wether he cocks his leg or not now i wont mind if he stills squatts. Thanks for all your help guys -
I dont know if this is in the right spot but.... My lab is 6 months old and he is still squatting to go to the toilet. Is this normal for his age? and when will he start cocking his leg? ETA: fix spelling mistakes
