Um...I did read the whole thread. I was talking about seeing whether the discussion could occur without the dog. Huski - what about just picking Daisy up if you go past?

People can say and do the most stupid things sometimes! Many years ago we had my sister-in-law visiting and at the time we had a large boofa. One of the kids was scared of our dog and the sister-in-law used him as a way to discpline the kid, saying things like: if you don't behave, I'll put you out with the dog!

And the staff of the airlines should be educated Agree.

I absolutely loved, loved, loved those comments. Out of all of them, only two were stupid - one who wanted a pup (for her desperate daughters) and another who had a go at the negative comments (saying there were worse things done to other dogs.)

We give ice when it's a bit warm, just to cool the dogs down, but certainly not if they were overheated. They like it, but don't love it.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Many a dog owner has done exactly what you've done and then kicked themselves. Don't be so hard on yourself.

What about trying to talk to her without Daisy? If that doesn't work, I'd cross the road and get away from her. I can't believe that someone would be scared of little Daisy! She looks like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth.

Wow, I didn't know there were any Hovawarts in Australia!? I liked them years ago, but didn't think they were in Australia. The golden ones look a bit like Golden Retriever, but if I'm not mistaken the breed is a lot harder?

I too think it's because the vet did the wrong thing by not being registered in that State. The annoying part is how the RSPCA just had to jump in the limelight to put forward their policy. Sheesh.

Henschke has done that a couple of times, it is a bit disconcerting. A look up the nose (nothing) and a just wait and see. If your dog continues to do it and or it gets worse, I'd take him to the vet. It could be dust up his nose or something. Or he could have picked something up from the kennel. I had a dog with kennel cough once and I will never forget that sound.

When we leave we have to follow a routine - walk the dogs, put toys out, remove the cushions (this is more so for the young pup), fill up the water bowls, turn and loungeroom light on, give frozen kong to each dog and leave. This may seem crazy to a lot of you, but we had to work really hard to get through Henschke's separation anxiety. If we follow this routine all is well, if we don't, then we will come home to a stressed dog. He is very much a dog of routine. ETA: both dogs have access to parts of the house and the yard while we're away. We like the fact the dogs can go inside when it's cool/hot and have somewhere safe to go if someone is about.

Oh poor baby. I didn't know that happened with ratsack - what a horrible thing to be going through. Hugs to you and to Reg. You must have been so scared! Thank goodness you got him to the vet early.

What a terrible, terrible thing to have happened! I hope the dogs aren't too traumatised by the event and I hope your friend heals quickly. Poor man, poor dogs.

We're looking at getting a new bed for the dogs and Jindi really likes to hide under tables and desks. So I'm wondering whether the igloo would be a good option. Does anyone have one of these? What are your thoughts?

Our male is called Henschke, the purpose of which was to name him after a wine, but it's certainly not a British name!

This was posted in the 'In News' folder, where I think it should stay so as to not offend people not wanting to read about it. Just my two cents.

My question is how do they expect to monitor all of this? They hardly have enough people as it is to assist with animal cruelty cases, yet they think they are going to be able to 'manage' everyone breeding dogs, be it puppy farmers, backyard breeders, registered breeders, etc? I can see where they are going - the main aim (I hope) is the welfare of dogs, but I think it needs a lot more research, not something that is based on the atrotocities found at puppy farms. To lumbar all breeders into that regulation is ridiculous. Why don't they focus on the main problem, and that is puppy farms? (Gawd I hate blanket policies!)

How sad! I stumbled across this dynamic duo a while back and just loved the concept. RIP Rocco, you were a much adored dog from all parts of the world.
