I'm interested in learning about this breed. I looked into the breed when we were thinking about getting a dog, but I got put off by the oily coat - does the dog have an oily coat that is oily to feel?

What's Happened To All The Bull Terriers In Perth?
poochmad replied to a topic in General Dog Discussion
Sorry, I should have said these type of dogs, meaning that they aren't a dog for everyone. Our neighbours were so foolish to have a dog like that, and they were giving the breed a bad name. -
As a last resort, there will be everything flying if our dogs were being attacked.

You chew their muzzles? Hehehe just a bit of soft chomp! No teeth! They have very chubby cheeks perfect for chomping on!!! Ewww! Gross! Do you know where and what dogs do with their mouths?? We have a shy dog and I ask people to only touch her under her chin or on her chest. If a man tries to pat our male on the head he will back away, again, people should pat strange dogs under chins not on top.

Man Operates On His Own Dog Because Vet Too Expensive
poochmad replied to Parkeyre's topic in In The News
Aww, all of your stories are so sad! So, so, sorry you had to through all of that. Hugs to you all. -
What's worse, is that it seems as though this behaviour had been noted before...perhaps if they had done something about the dog, i.e. for example not let it run free when be released for toiliting, someone's family pet didn't have to be killed.

I support Sheridan's suggestion of having a website that shows a picture of impounded animals. The Canberra council website is excellent in showing a photo of the dog and the area it was located. Canberra Pound I know that if our dogs got out they would be described as completely different breeds as they are an unknown breed. A lot of rangers know the common breeds, but few would know the rare or uncommon breeds.

What's Happened To All The Bull Terriers In Perth?
poochmad replied to a topic in General Dog Discussion
We had a bull terrier living next door to us up until recently. I've known quite a number of bully's in the past and they've all been lovely. The one next door though, killed a Jack Russell and was terrorising the neighbourhood (the neighbour was a little stupid in allowing him to patrol the fenceline and he was undesexed) so he saw the whole corner as his area...unfortunately he started going after people as well as dogs and the final straw came when he chased a lady with a pram. The ranger came, went into the yard, got bitten and the dog was declared dangerous. For a while she was extremely dilligent in watching him, then one day I noticed he was out and went to her to let her know and she told me that she had opened the gate to give him some exercise!! Oh my goodness! This dog's aggression was progressively getting worse (I guess because there was no reaction) and he was a bomb waiting to go off. In the end, the marriage split up and the husband took the dog. Phew. This example above is extreme but just goes to show what can happen when ignorant people have these dogs. As a teenager I came across a lovely tri bully and he was soooo sweet and cuddly! Just as I imagine them to all be, unless they are in the wrong hands. -
I very rarely go pat-pat on our dogs head, I do think it would be annoying. However, lots of scratches, long strokes and long movements occur on a daily basis. However, upon saying that I don't do a pat-pat, our dogs are so needy for touch, any touch we do is fine by them - except maybe a poke in the eye...

What I can't get over, is the number of dogs that are inside and muddy! My husband 'Mr Neat Freak', would have a pink fit if the dogs came inside all muddy!

That's the problem with these crosses, they are all now a fashion statement...

Aw, so sad and hard for you. My thoughts are with you.

Mya is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing. If you need any tips or help, this is also a great folder to come to.

Agree with all your reasons. Agree with persephone and introduce the change bit by bit. I'm sure as long as you didn't just 'throw them out there' and left them lots to do, they will be fine. If you make it an exciting place and they only get special toys, treats, they will probably end up itching to go outside.

I think it's a great idea. They're not saying that you can't have cross breed dogs, just that you need a permit. The number of people I know who get a purebred and who want to have that dog have a litter 'so they don't miss out' or have just one litter, is astonishing. Just up the road there are people who have jack russells who are constantly breeding the pups - just because they can.

Man Operates On His Own Dog Because Vet Too Expensive
poochmad replied to Parkeyre's topic in In The News
That's so sad, sorry you had to go through this. Regarding the article, I think it's pretty sad the man felt like he couldn't afford to take his dog to the vet; although, I thought in America, you could take your vet to the RSPCA (or whatever it's called in the US) if you couldn't afford to pay? -
What a beautiful tribute - so beautiful. So sorry for your pain and sadness; hoping that this passes quickly. RIP Buddy, you looked like one hell of a dog!

How sad. So sorry for your loss.

Aww, that is so sad. Hugs to you, I know how awful it is to hit an animal.

Scruff, sounds like you've got it all sorted... But can I just ask that you stop with all the acronyms and the text speak? It's really doing my head in! -
Aww, he sounds so cute! (I've love to see a video of that!)
