Newfie Pup From Nine Weeks To Six Months
poochmad replied to newfsie's topic in General Dog Discussion
She is stunning. I love Newfies, but hubby would never have one, too big, hairy and droolly... -
Both of our breeders would take back the dogs if required. It's nice to know that, but it's something we will have to do.

Thanks. Just saved it in my favourites.

Happy Birthday Bronte! She looks beautiful!

Henry & Marcus - Playing In Backyard
poochmad replied to Sticks1977's topic in General Dog Discussion
Agree. Marcus was extremely tolerant - he appears to have a lovely temperament, just right for socialising a pup. I too would allow Marcus to have a break, there's only so much nipping, licking and total enthusiasm an adult dog can take. -
Poor little kittens! I hope they died quickly. I agree with Lo Pan...I'd be surprised if he gets any 'punishment' in gaol, that is usually reserved for monsters who do horrible things to children.
-
It's pretty gross looking. But a question for those who know about the 'water puppies' do the pups die immediately (in the womb) or do they only die when born?
-
Oh, poor boy. Sorry about the sad news.
-
Oh my goodness! Look at Gelly! She is a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e! And I love the photo of Charlie asleep near his Daddy...so cute.

Bloody Drinkers And Their Bloody Glass Bottles
poochmad replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion
Poor baby. That is one of the worse things about where we live, there is broken glass everywhere! I don't think we have gone on a walk yet where we don't have to dodge broken glass. I wish they would stop selling alcohol in glass...not only does it injure little paws and feet, but it also makes the town (Goulburn) look quite trashy. -
I too complain (but not really) that hubby gives the dogs more attention than he does me. He kisses them on the head all the time. What really softens my heart is when he cuddles with Jindi and talks baby talk to her because he wasn't that keen on her (he thought he couldn't love her as much as he loves Henschke), but she's such a cuddle pot, he is falling in love with her.
-
Aww, cute photos eveyone! The only one I have is when Henschke was a pup...
-
Bec, you take such wonderful photos. They are fantastic! I think you should look into doing it as a business! The dogs look like they love each other so much. I look forward to the time when Henschke (our male) relaxes enough for Jindi to rest on him...he jumps a mile high if she goes near him when he's sleeping. At the moment they just play with each other all the time (she's been with our family for 3 months). Your two dogs look like a match made in heaven.

Wow, lucky you! Don't forget to take lots of photos!

What a great story.

Poor dogs, what a terrible and painful way to go. I too, feel sorry for the man himself if he was devoted to the dogs, imagine how terrible he must feel to have done this to dogs that he (supposedly) cared about? The fact that he suffers from depression is not going to be helped by the fact that his dogs have died through his actions. I agree he should be charged, regardless of whether he's a cop or had psychological problems.

Doh! Of course, I forgot that. Hee, hee.

Help! Dog Constantly Digging Out!
poochmad replied to charliehotel's topic in General Dog Discussion
We used to have this problem with our old dogs and found that digging along the fenceline and putting chicken wire down with bricks on top soon cured the digging. -
Hmm. Odd. I would PM Troy and ask him to change your permission for you. When you start the thread, could you open it up for Rare Spaniels? Would be lovely to chat to other like minded people.

Along with other DOLers, I have been someone following Charlie's diagnosis threads from the beginning. I'm very sorry for you that the news is not what you hoped. I agree with Poodlefan, matching Charlie's temperament, size and activity level to a small sized dog like a Cavalier is a good idea. I also understand your reasonings behind thinking of getting another dog for him; I'm sure DOLers on here can attest that an elderly dog's activity level (and zest for life) increased when a young pup was introduced. However, should you choose a larger dog, can I suggest that you get an older dog (many breeders have dogs for good homes all the time), that way the dog's activity level would be pretty obvious and you will be able to know exactly what you are getting. Although I recommend a smaller dog with a similar temperament, a lot of large dogs are very calm as well.
