  1. Poor little darlings, and poor you. You did the right thing.
  2. Aw happy birthday. Frankly CW, I don't believe a word you say about her being a naughty pup, I mean, seriously, look at that sweet, innocent face. You really expect us to believe that she is not the perfect angel she looks like? Also, where is her birthday photo?
  3. Happy birthday Mr Gorgeous! He was a very cute pup! Now, where is a photo of him now?
  4. Recently I went through a very traumatic time and both my dogs stuck to me like glue. To be honest, without them, I don't think I would have been able to get through it so easily. It was an amazing thing to observe, as my husband put it and since then the male has resumed following me around, more than he did before. Sorry to hear you are unwell Jacqui, take it easy and get better.
  5. Good news that the monkeys were returned home. But seriously, the dude who was given the money as a present and who used his private jet to return it, didn't know it was stolen? What a crock! Most likely they waited until she gave birth and then returned her to the zoo while they sold the babies for thousands. Sounds cynical, but most likely true.
  6. Buy the home alone toy - best thing we ever did for our bored pup. In the end we would put a special treat in the handle so he took ages jumping up to get them out. To watch them suddenly catch on - if I tug this, the ball bounces and food comes out, is great for your video camera!
  7. Agree. You had me going there for a second...right up until I read the sniffing the dog's butt. But funny, nevertheless!
  8. I like nothing better than a lean dog. Now, if only I could apply that to Jindi who only has to look at food and she puts on weight, LOL! Although if we were showing here, she would be the perfect weight. She has a waist, she's just carrying a little bit extra than I'd like her to.
  9. Gosh some of these stories are horrible! Aren't there any good companies to fly your dog? We haven't allowed our dogs to fly anywhere purely because of the awful stories you hear.
  10. Sorry Huski - just saw this thread. Thank goodness Daisy is OK. It's very upsetting when your pup's are hurt, but she sounds like a brave lass.
  11. Oh yeah, we bought one for our pup and he loved it. Highly recommended.
  12. Congratulations Enzo! Love the photos! He is beautiful!
  13. I'd write a letter to the manager. I'm sure the workers thought they were doing the right thing, allowing it out and to get some attention (and I suppose as an owner I would want my pup/dog happy), but to allow a complete stranger to hold the dog without knowing anything about you (and by you, I mean in a general sense), I find that quite disturbing.
  14. I'm in two minds about this one. Puppies are such hard work! Yet, older dogs can have problems as well. We got Henschke at 8 weeks and he was a terror, but we were able to socialise him and he is great around people, kids and dogs. Jindi we got as an older pup 7 monthish and she was not socialised with people (great with dogs) but fearful of people, but was a breeze around the house without being destructive. I think it would depend on the dog - if it ticked all the boxes, then I would not hesitate to get an older dog again. However, hubby would always want a puppy so he can 'bond with it'. Even though he loves Jindi, he feels closer to Henschke, probably because he was such a nightmare pup (chewing, howling, digging etc) and now he's almost perfect, he can see the hard work that's paid off.
  15. Aww, he looks so sad. I'm sure though with a little bit of TLC, lots of cuddles and knowing that the can relax, he will be a happy go lucky Newfie in no time. He is adorable. Can't wait to see some happy, smiley pics.
  16. Welcome to DOL. ;) Your dogs are beautiful. ;)
  17. Happy birthday Charlie. ;) ;) So glad he found a home with you, you have done a wonderful job.
  18. I agree. I won't go anywhere near my MIL's neighbour because of these fiesty little suckers. ;) I was going to agree with this, but you need a fence of geese to protect them from foxes. I don't think you will find any breed of dog that would not be tempted to leave your property if their were no fences and being in the country it's the fastest way to get your dog shot if roaming around.
  19. I have had a mix of good and bad experiences. The good ones were positive, willing to talk, happy to meet to see their dogs, weren't pushy and even if we didn't go with their breed, weren't rude. One min poodle breeder in Canberra was fantastic, even after we changed our minds and got a Field instead, if I was ever going to get a poodle or recommend a breeder, it would be her - she was lovely! Very down to earth and willing to answer all our questions, including giving us a demonstration on how to clip a poodle. Both the breeders of our dogs are lovely. We don't see them anymore as we're no longer showing, but I know that if there was anything we ever needed, they wouldn't hesitate to help us.
  20. Our two are messy drinkers. Both water bowls are outside, which they have access through a doggy door. However, the problem with us isn't the water that is on the floor, it's that they tend to come in and say 'hello'...with their muzzle or wet and dripping! Hee, hee. We think it's hilarious when they do the same to our guests much to their bemusement! Just hearing their squeals is enough of an award. Ha, ha. :D
  21. It's always so hard when your first pooch love passes. So sorry for you and your parents' loss. Run free and be happy Towser. :D
  22. Oh, what a beautiful tribute. RIP Jason. xx
  23. So sorry for your loss. She looked and sounded like a lovely dog. Hugs to you in this hard time. :D
  24. What a wonderful person you are for opening your door to Wally. For the little time he was with you, I'm sure he had a blast (just look at that photo!) you are very special person.
