Which Breed Makes The Cutest Puppies?

Hmm, did someone say Field Spaniel? -
The number of people who believe this is astounding. Even my friend who grew up with dogs being bred (GSDs) believed it. Luckily she also believed that if she got desexed it would calm her down, LOL...oh I am so sneaky.

He's adorable. Any name would suit him. What a sweetie!

I Am Never Walking My Dogs In This Neighbourhood Again.
poochmad replied to Jimmay's topic in General Dog Discussion
OMG! I definitely agree it should be reported! Those dogs are high risk. How terrifying for all concerned and thank goodness no one was badly injured. -
Yesterday I was in the backyard when I heard some whining and looked over our fence only to be surprised to see 3 puppies, between 5 - 6 weeks of age. Our house backs onto a laneway, which then backs on to a road (although not very busy) so naturally I was very concerned. The owner of the puppies lives at the end of the lane, which can be seen from our back fence who have an agressive (already reported to the council by numerous people) bob tailed blue heeler. As a response from the council they now have a high gate to keep the dogs in (whereas before they would just leave it open to let the dogs wander as they pleased), however at that time it was open. From my spot I could see other similar aged puppies running around that could just as easily walk down the laneway. For 10 mins I stood there with the pups (hanging over the back fence) and calling to them so they stayed with me, waiting for the owner to come and close the gate, but no one appeared. So I bundled the puppies up and went to the front of the house to return them, only to discover that they must have bred their Jack Russells as well, as there were also little pups running around inside the house. The mother said that her husband had just got home and he must have left the gate open. I said that they were in the laneway and I was worried about them getting run over. She said thanks and took them and when I got home the gate was closed and the puppy was gone. However, looking up at the gate, I noticed a fence paling that had come down, that the pups could easily climb through. I have to say I'm surprised to see pups from this blue heeler bitch again, as not so long ago she had pups and I remember seeing her recently with her big teats and I just naturally thought that she hadn't bounced back from the last litter, but am now sad to discover that she's had another litter straight after the last one. As mean as she is (and she's horrid), I can't help but feeling sorry for her. These people are very well known in the community and have a really large backyard, complete with horses (that they train for people), multiple undesexed dogs and chooks that roam free up and down the laneway (the dogs and chooks, not the horses) and drive everyone nuts with their dogs. Their mentality is much of the old-school farmer and since they've been here for a very long time, act as though the it's ok to allow their animals to roam free. However, this is slowly being changed with more people (from Canberra, I live in Goulburn) moving to the neighbourhood. I'm such a softie that last night I kept worrying about them and keep checking the back gate to see whether they had appeared. I do so wish that everyone else was as responsible as us.

I think the only way to track down a dog is through microchipping, anything that can be removed is a waste of money.

So sorry for your loss. He was a stunning dog. My condolences to you and your family. RIP Rocky.

Funny you should ask, I've just been online looking! Have a look at the classified section of the main page of Dogzonline, there are plenty of advertisers who sell good dog beds.

Happy birthday, beautiful girl. Did she get to eat that delicious bun or was that for the adults?

I listetened to everything our breeders told us and actioned it. I'm just a goody-two-shoes. However, I wish they had warned me that Fields are incredibly vocal pups as we didn't know what happened to our perfect pup when we put him down in his pen and he howled non-stop for an hour! If we had been told that would happen, then maybe we could have done things differently. Later when we were telling the breeder what had happened, she just laughed and told us that they all do that and to ignore it. At least now we know what to do the next time we get a pup.

I agree, he doesn't have big wrists or feet to make me think he will be big. He looks like a Staffy cross. Very cute though. I'd probably guess small to medium sized. Around the 46cm at the shoulder.

There's nothing more annoying than a barking dog. We have a Blue Heeler that barks non-stop throughout the night, drives us nuts. I just don't see how or why the owners can't hear it, or don't stop it. Personally, I wouldn't go knocking on their door, especially considering they have had domestic disturbances. I think you need the rangers to handle it. I'm surprised that they haven't taken more notice as usually a nuisance barker is quickly dealt with by law, and in fact, it's every dog owners nightmare to have a dog reported for barking.

I love, love the Field Spaniel, they are almost the perfect dog. When I'm too old, I'd like a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (had one as a kid) as they are an awesome breed. However, if I was able to get my way, I'd love a French Bulldog. I think they are great. If hubby turned around and said I could get any breed of dog, I'd seriously look at either a Leonberger, Newfie or Briard. They have always been my childhood favourites. I also love the Welshie and may be tempted to try this breed instead of getting another Field, as they are also a lovely breed. So many beautiful breeds, it's hard to pick just one.

How terrible. It just goes to show that all rescue dogs need to undergo temperament testing before placing into new homes. Poor little pooch. RIP.

What happened to the dogs?

Poor little pups. At least that sort of thing won't happen again, as I'm sure they would have learnt from that.

Congratulations! She's beautiful!

Fontana Couple Convicted In Dog Mauling Of 3 Children
poochmad replied to Swiss Girl's topic in In The News
This act would have been horrific for the poor children. My heart goes out to them. Glad to see that the owners are being held accountable for allowing their dogs to roam free and for what the dogs did. Regardless of the breed, no dog/s should be allowed to get away with maulings/attacks. -
Aww, that is just so sad. Poor little doggies.

Great news and great advertising for microchips.

What Do You Think Of This Rspca Ad?
poochmad replied to SkySoaringMagpie's topic in General Dog Discussion
I like the ad for what it is, as a humorous way to find your 'mate'. Sure, I know you're not going to find a dog of that breed at the RSPCA, but it's not meant to be taken serioulsy. -
Yes, please post where you found the poison to allow other DOLers to be on the look out.
