  1. So sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you.
  2. Our dogs go to bed when I go to bed. There is a set routine: outside for a wee, then wait at the bottom of the stairs before being released, where both dogs race upstairs and straight into their beds - Jindi into her crate and Henschke into his bed. Treat given, then sleep. Sometime in the night Henschke will ask to come up on the bed and he will then sleep with us. It's interesting how quickly dogs get into a routine. We are looking after my sister's dog, a minature poodle and when she stayed with us last time, I got her into the routine of jumping into her bed at night for a treat. This time, she did the exact same thing, ran upstairs and then waited until I put her bed down, where she then jumped in and I gave her a treat and off to sleep she went.
  3. Our dogs are named after food - Jindi for cheese and Henschke for wine (wine and cheese as the two go so well together). Previous dogs also had cheese names, Stilton for a Kerry Blue and Tilba for a Lab. At work there is a forum and a little Daschund is called Snickers. It's so adorable and suits the name perfectly.
  4. Personally, I think the conversation (so far) has been pretty reasonable with no one having a go at anyone for their opinions. In the past, I have seen many a cat fight over the topic, LOL, so it's nice when you can get your point across without being cut down or yelled at.
  5. Poor darling, what a horrible way to die. These stories, there are no words... :D
  6. I'd leave her with your parents. Allows you to relax and allows them some bonding time.
  7. I don't mind it. I think you can call your dog anything you like, except for swear words, that's not funny. Our names are after cheese (Jindi) and wine (Henschke).
  8. I own a breed that was traditionally docked (Field Spaniel). We love their tails and love their thumping. As a look thing only, some of the breeds I prefer without a tail, the Dobes, Rotties, Boxers, Schnauzers, etc.
  9. What a scare that would have been for you. Thank goodness she seems to be getting better.
  10. It's the tone of voice. If the owner came back in and asked 'what did you do?' in a happy voice, the dog would react by wagging it's tail. It would have been useful if the video showed that, rather than making people think that dogs know when they've done something wrong.
  11. I thought the cost of our breed (Field Spaniel) would be more expensive, especially when we got Henschke as their weren't that many around. The price doesn't seem to have gone up, regardless of the colour.
  12. I like the facial expression on the lab, looks cross between endearing and pensive (my dog looks at me like that all the time). The second picture of the Shar Pei I think is much better, in quality. Seems like you took more time doing that one, whereas the lab looks like it was done in a hurry?
  13. I still can't believe that council's would do nothing about this sort of thing. I complained about a dog years ago and the very same day the ranger did something about it. With all the horrendeous stories in the news, I shake my head in disbelief that people ignore these things.
  14. Wow, really? We have dogs around here that bark half the night!
  15. Wow, I'm surprised that the council won't do anything, especially with the media these days. However, if they aren't taking it seriously, I'd be contacting a newspaper or something similar.
  16. What a wonderful story! I hope they find a home soon.
  17. aahhh poor dog . Hope they find the barstewards. +1
  18. After seeing that footage on this one, I had to go and cuddle the puppies and then go into the puppy thread to try to block the image. Unfortunately, I can still see it. I just don't understand. (Note to self, don't look at footage any more.)
  19. Oh my goodness Critta, what a terrible and devastating shock. So very sorry; my thoughts are with you.
  20. So terribly sorry for your loss. My condolences to you and your family.
  21. That was a cack! Made me laugh out loud. Thanks for sharing.
