I Feel Like An Idiot Calling My Vet Every Week...:-(
poochmad replied to Niki8's topic in General Dog Discussion
DOL is a great place to get information from - everything from medical, feeding, training, etc, so you are welcome to come here first before calling your vet, if that is a concern. If it is something serious or something of a concern, the advice will be to contact your vet. Remember, not only are members dog owners, we have a few vet nurses, behaviorists, trainers, show judges, breeders and a vet as well (pops in every now and again). There is a plethora of information on here - check out the 'Puppy Problems' and the 'Health/Nutrition/Training' folders as your first port of call. And post some photos please. :) -
We use this type of back seat buddyBackseat Buddy and have had it for 5 years and it's still going strong. Friends of ours have Great Danes and another has a Goldie and they all swear by it. We got the black so it looks better for longer. They look nice too.

You are very nice to look after your friend's dogs, especially so many. It's always difficult I think to bring dogs into a doggy home in case there are disputes. We've just finished looking after an oldie for 6 weeks, this one was hard to give back.

What a lovely, caring person you are. Flossie was so lucky that you saw her and gave her some love before she passed.

That's amazing footage, Sheridan. Thank god they got out before that happened.

Sounds terrible. Anyone in this area, stay safe!

Emergency Warning - Wambelong Fire, Coonabarabran (Warrumbungle LGA) 13/01/13 22:40 Posted: 13/01/2013 MEDIA OUTLETS ARE REQUESTED TO USE THE STANDARD EMERGENCY WARNING SIGNAL WITH THIS UPDATE An emergency warning is in place for a large fire which is burning uncontrolled in the Warrumbungle National Park to the West of Coonabarabran. Current Situation This is a large, fast moving and dangerous bush fire. The fire is burning in a north and north westerly direction away from Timor Road and the Siding Spring Observatory. There is an immediate threat to life and property. Advice If you are north of Bugaldine, head towards Baradine if the path is clear. If you are south of Yearinan, head towards Coonabarabran. If the path is not clear, or if you are not sure, seek shelter as the fire impacts to protect yourself from the radiant heat. If you live in these areas but are not at home, do not attempt to return home. An evacuation centre has established at the Tattersalls Hotel, 23 Wellington Street, Baradine (this is instead of the Emergency Services Building). A relocation centre has been established for people from the Timor Road and Siding Spring area at the Coonabaraban Bowling Club at 79 Edwards Street Coonabarabran.

Major Fire Updates Emergency Warning - Wambelong Fire, Warrumbungle (Coonamble LGA) 13/01/13 16:50 Posted: 13/01/2013 An emergency warning is in place for a large fire which is burning uncontrolled in the Warrumbungle National Park to the West of Coonabarabran. Current Situation The bush fire is currently burning north of Timor Road towards Siding Spring Observatory. About a dozen isolated properties at Mt Woorut, including Siding Spring Observatory, are under threat. Police are evacuating the area. Firefighters and waterbombing aircraft are on scene. An Emergency Alert telephone warning message has been sent to people in the area. The message has been sent through mobile phone towers, meaning people outside the immediate warning area may have received this message. If you have received this message but are not in the Siding Spring area, continue to monitor the situation. Advice If you are in the area around the Siding Spring Observatory, leave immediately if the path is clear along Timor Road in an easterly direction towards Coonabaraban. A southerly change is forecast to affect the area in the next hour. This may push smoke and embers towards Bugaldie. People in the Bugaldie area should continue to monitor the situtation.

I just looked on the Hasbro website (the people who make the games) and unfortunately the only way to vote is by using Facebook... -
It's all so sad. I like the idea of naming the protocol/policy after Buddy as that will serve as a reminder for your terrible and senseless loss. I don't think it's just professional dog groomers that needs to be aware, everyone needs to know, anyone who uses a table to groom their dogs. When we were showing our male and he'd be tethered to the door (don't have a grooming arm), my husband would never leave his side and if he did, he'd call me to hold him. That is just common sense. ETA: and we never used a chocker chain.

I thought it was a very cute cut on the dog and can kinda see how they thought it was a lion, although, it was very bouncy for a lion, more like a Tigger really...
-
I have heard that too. Our male groans when he lies down, it's adorable.

Behaviourists In Wagga- Canberra Area
poochmad replied to mixeduppup's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have a dog who's terrified of people and I wish these people were around when I needed help. The woman we used from Canberra was useless. Good luck - I hope that someone can help you; living with a fearful dog can be quite stressful. Luckily for me, mine is not a fear biter, but they do have special needs. All I can say, is make sure that whomever you get doesn't try for a 'quick fix' as that can do huge damage to your dog psychologically. Over the course of two years we have modified our behaviour based on research here and reading books (Living with a Fearful Dog - which you can have if you wish) and Jindi (the female) is greatly approved, going from bolting upstairs and staying away from visitors, to now coming downstairs quite quickly and being in the same room with people; quite an achievement. I'd be more than happy to chat with you what we've done...and the results if you wish. -

Yeah, I will be voting to keep the Scottie - it's the best out of the lot. Updated. I voted for the Scottie (of course) and to add the cat. I think it's pretty cute how they are 'deciding'...
