  1. K9: hmm, no grabbing the ball from my hand, no uncontrolled prey attacks? Let me tell you this dog has very high prey drive,,,, Maybe I will have to try a leaf....
  2. K9: Your trolling is becoming rediculous.... Seems you want to follow around threads that have anything to do with my training & troll them... Im sure you wont like it if I do it to you... If you had any idea this teaches a dog to control its prey drive, the dogs your reading about are in the drive development stages, not the focus stages... A dog with uncontrolled prey drive is more likely to target something that it isnt supposed to.. As for the list going from bad to worse, I agree, your trolling should have been stopped long ago... There is no law keeping you here by the way.... K9: neither do I, they are designed to discredit this training method people have learned from me... K9: you engage yourself, no one forces you to post... Why havent you cpme fourth in ths Schutzhund posts? Maybe because they are related to me? Your breaking the forum rules... K9: & of course you know that if this dog was trained in prey drive he wouldnt do this... so your for the method right?
  3. K9: the constant drive satisafcation breeds contentment... This is very common..
  4. K9: ;) shorten up the string or sock.... Hold the ball still, when the dog lunges at it, move it quickly to the right of the direction the dog is lunging, the dog cant change direction in the air.... Hey your getting it easy, try it with a dog thats had a lot of bitework....
  5. K9: Lets edit that to say "these are the methods I find most success full". As many, like myself do not use halters nor food for pulling dogs... This article may help see some downsides of the halters www.k9force.net/halter.html
  6. K9: Myzska please edit your spelling! its country.....! ;)
  7. K9: will you grow up... Go search the word Halti & see how many times it comes up here, do you see me running around saying people are trying to promote haltis for the the company who makes them? Noticed you failed to answer my questions, once again....
  8. K9: not sure what you want to know... ? I use the balls as a prey item? Cant really describe the method over the internet...
  9. K9: lol, workshops are for people to learn what to do with their dogs...
  10. K9: Ok, I am trying to get numbers for this event now, so I can set it up. I have a list of people who gave their name to Chicko, (thanks) but it would be much easier to send me an email if you want to attend a workshop with me in Perth. Send it to [email protected] Thanks
  11. K9: I personally dont think Rex will have a problem at all... His behaviour at my recent workshops has been exemplory, having that said, if Myszka feels he may be stressed, it isnt good for him... If Myszka would like to make a training session out of your smaller group I can see that being a good thing...
  12. K9: I often search my own name to see if anyone is asking me questions & saw this thread. I am not a believer that you cannot get 100% reliability from a dog, I know it can be done as I have done it numerous times & have seen others do it. I do feel that any dog that gets the leash dropped should have a reliable recall, maybe 100% is a bit much for a pet owner to achieve though... These though are my opinions & what people do with their own dog is of course up to them. Myszka I wouldnt take Rex to one of these meets, I feel that in the last 12 months (since my intervention  ) Rex has improved dramatically, others have mentioned this to me also... But taking into this environment could reverse this great work you have done... & I cant see for what gain. I have told you like I have told many, that if your going to train, you have to control the other players, I dont think you can control the other players at a social off leash park, this thread shows you that you wont. I know you would enjoy meeting everyone, but as these things should be always subject to a risk assessment, the lower risk dogs are mature dogs with no dog problems, the higher risk categories are younger dogs & dogs with pre existing dog issues... I personally would only take a dog in the lower risk categorie & never one in the higher risk categories... Thats just my opinion though....
  13. K9: I feel there is better control of the prey item when its a ball over a bumper... I still sell as many bumpers as balls but I personally prefer the ball..
  14. K9: No these are different, those white balls only come in one size, & are a bit hard for some dogs.... But thanks for your input...
  15. K9: Stillw aiting for them to arrivce from the states, should be any day now... You like the new ball?
  16. K9: weather doesnt bother me at all, but I still aint training in the flesh.... lol..
  17. K9: I hope you mean FLASH, because its a litle cold to get the gear off outside at the moment :p
  18. K9: Its very easy, when the dog jumps into the air, take a step back, the dog will get sick & tired of jumping real fast... I have done it a few times lol... K9: Ok, when the dog stops jumpingt & sits, we start to slow down the release of the ball, the release also must be passive, just drop the ball to the dog... Next delay the time before dropping the ball, priase slowly "yes" & move the ball closer to the dogs nose... When the dog jumps you pull away the ball, this teaches the dog just to sit, not try & win the ball via speed.... See pic below... When this is the case, you teach the drop, using the ball as a lure... Then throw the ball into the feet of the dog... Then teach 1 dynamic command (after the 2 static). Such as heel or recall... After you have success in all three, treach the stand or what ever you like, as you would with food the dog wont grab at the ball... Promise lol...
  19. K9: yes I would Erny, this is the case with any type of training tool, however as the prong is so effective at restoring control to the handler, it sometimes happens so fast the dog isnt willing to just give up that easy & sometimes they offer alternate behaviours to regain control of the handler, one being leash biting anither being lying down trying to get the handler to go the direction the dog wants... There can be others obviosuly but these two are common.... Those who would suggest that the dog doesnt like the chosen piece of equipment would be right, I suppose just like I dont like speed cameras....
  20. K9: the dogs perception of the excercise, if the dog thinks that the article is a prey item, or that it will get a prey item as a reward its prey drive.... If its to please you its pack drive...
  21. K9: I am replying to you as I, like others it seems took your response unlike you say you meant it... I know the initial query wasnt directed at you but, you go onto say that you suggested that perhaps the dog was letting the handler know that it was uncomfortable.... I cant see where in your first post in this thread (which is the one in which opinions were formed) you said anything at all like that... You asked what appeared to be a rhetorical question with a hint of sarcasm in the form of the wink.... K9: of course I would, but the OP didnt explain how she was using the equaipment so I cant see how you came up with the impresson sjhe was miss using it? K9: then may I ask why you answered it? Are you an expert with the prong collar? K9: I really wouldnt have thought you were past it from your post... But when you say concerted effort, this I assume means you feel like the posters who asked you to clarify have all gotten together to question you? I can tell you I was left out of that one... .If I can offer you some advice, to help ease the defensive attacks you feel are present? Maybe it is wise not to make negative leading comments on pieces of equipment that people (including myself) are well aware that you dont like... Whilst Im sure that your innocent of having a shot at the users of this type of training tool in this case, people wont believe you....
  22. K9: it could be taught in either, but I feel the best drive for this is prey drive...
  23. K9: Thats funny, with your comment asking if the OP had thought that dog was trying to tell her something, then adding a wink, I am really struggling to believe you were wondering anything, seemed more like a suggestion... Dogs do this because they are looking for a new way to gain control of the handler, rather than the old ways of jumping on hanlders, pulling on leash, lunging etc etc which they can no longer do.... but Im sure you knew this right?
  24. K9: He would be one of the best Labs I have ever seen both here & overseas... K9: well that tells us that it is working.... lol, he will ditch the vocalising when he see's it doesnt get him anywhere... K9: lucky you dont have many then lol...
