  1. K9: you only have 9 minutes per day for your dog? If you mean drive training is only 9 minutes, you can do more sessions, thats the minimum.. & this is only for three weeks... K9: not committed enough? & & K9: Seems you need some more theory on this method... ;)
  2. K9: Ok, the whisper is at this point, 1 - 2 days workshop with another training business, that will mean they will sell the tickets & anyone can go, in the Melbourne city area sort of.. Also possibly a 3 day retriever seminar, also private consults, also the Ballarat workshop & one very special day that has yet to be confirmed, the events on this day will be the best yet... Looks like I will be living there huh? ;)
  3. K9: OK I will add some answrs here but your not going to correct your problem... The problem is that you need to remove some of the pups other places of satisfaction... K9: then you trained too long, she has to finish the session dyiung for another go at the ball.... Small training sessions... & if you tell me this was a small training session then it needs to be timed when the dog isnt so tired... K9: ok so you do nothing but this until she hits the end of the tie out all the time... Dogs dont learn in one rep... K9: ok, helicopter blades dont travel in straight lines, they go round in circles, it cant be dont in a straight line... K9: I wonder if the dog could choose cuddling on the lounge with a child or chasing the ball, which would it choose? Neutralisation is the key to a high end dog... K9: 3 weeks, of 3 times per day, 3 minutes per time 7 days per week is a guide, the other part of the rule is that you do nothing else. No dog parks, other toys, kids, no obience, playing with other dogs, walks, off leash romps etc... If you are still doing all of these things, the chances of developing the dogs drive are slim to none. This method is a professional dog training method that yields very high results very fast, but if you do only some of the steps you will get only some of the results.. You must do it exactly as described if you want those results....
  4. K9: Explaining how to train a dog to "achieve drive satisfaction" is quite a task so that people may understand the steps, even in an environment such as a workshop or seminar, over the internet would be impossible... The thread mentioned has some good info though...
  5. K9: the ball at the begining is supposed to look like a fleeing prey item, dog sits keep spinning yes...
  6. K9: the dog gets quicker at the chase & catches the ball, the reward is for greater effort...
  7. K9: ok you need to be aware that your in DRIVE DEVELOPMENT, no sits, drops or anything else...
  8. K9: Tie her to something like a piece of wood, maybe 1 kog or half a kg, then go from there. Or try this, use your imagination
  9. K9: flat out here today, dogs every where, but Myszka, if you have your dog running around all the time, playing all the time, then this can be why your pup is un focussed, she is playing all day & when you want to play she isnt driven enough... She shouldnt be hanging off you if your not dedicated to play, crate her... For the dog not going into drive with the leash on, if the dog will go into drive with just a collar, use that with a piece of rope attached 20 cm long, then when that poses no distraction use 40 cm & work up to leash length... Shorten the free time the pup has if you want to make a strong worker out of them...
  10. K9: Thanks for the great response, so you all know, if we do the three hour info nite type thing, I would only be working with maybe one or two dogs as a demo... So only one or two dogs will come along.. If we do a whole day there may be opportunity to work quite a few more, but every one can bring their dog...
  11. K9: no dont do this, the ok command is the free command, ie do what you want... Your dogs should in theory go for the ball not the bird... It will only confuse them... Ok when you release the ball is good..
  12. K9: hey there, INfo nite is a 3 hour type thing that I mainly do locally or in addition to a workshop if Im interstate. Most likely the SA one will be a 2 day workshop...
  13. K9: one word, crate... K9: one word, same word, crate...
  14. K9: Depends on your end goal, but it will stop anyway, provided the food isnt too close.... k9: well she is supposed to eat without watching you, the excercise is over when the dog starts to eat? She can show you any ob move she wants the only one that will bring the "yes" from you & then the "ok" will be the one you want... K9: could be, but make sure dinner brekky & every meal is done in the TOT K9: yes, when she isnt in drive...
  15. K9: Thanks to the people that have responded to the PMS emails etc... I too look forward to meeting you all... You can all see how many great friends I have made interstate & the way we can all talk the same lingo on training. So many people are getting great results with their dogs in my training methods, this is one of the greatest things for me to see... I hope to make it to Perth to meet you all & help you understand your dogs better, I feel that once people learn to see things "K9 style", it makes training their dogs so much easier from then on in... Fingers crossed... but it looks better every day...
  16. K9: Things sure do get lost in translation via the net... The game you play is desensitization... You must win this until the dog is desensitized... That may be one session or 100... depending on the damage if any... K9: GiGi & Lablover if the dog was in drive peak through the whole event then yes, no damage, but this wouldnt be the case... You both know just how fast dogs learn in drive (initialisation) so it dont take much...
  17. K9: drop the toy into his mouth, dont throw it away for him.. He wanst to keep control so he grabs the leash.. it will go away...
  18. K9: The dogs in training will be a separate section, at the end all the photos whether training or not will be submitted to a poll, the winnder will win the voucher..
  19. K9: Thats great news Gillian, it must be a sight seeing that big fella bouncing after the ball...
  20. K9: Im K8 only once or twice a year, the rest IM 100% K9... lol.. There is someone currently discussion a Ballarat workshop in November, I also have distance learning packages for training in drive... Workshops will be much better though
  21. K9: Ok I am PMing everyone on the list again right now, the date will be August 19th & 20th... Just for interest, what I hope to cover is: Training in drive for begginners. Training the reliable recall. Solving Behaviour problems. Loose leash walking The Competitors edge & more...
  22. K9: yes if the person who sends the pic is IN the pic, & yes me training yours...
  23. K9: dogs that are not in training can be submitted, but it should be your dog.... lol
