  1. K9: just to clarify for those who dont speak K9... SAAD is Sit at a distance DAAD is Drop at a distance DOTR is Drop on the run. K9: sounds good CB... Hey why dont you post the yo tube link of your two aggressive Jacks.... lol..
  2. K9: when it comes to bringing a dog, some who have attended more tha one have felt that sometimes they prefer to learn without the dog there, less distracting, others like to have the dog there, not many places you can actually take your dog these days & we also may work that dog.. We may not work every dog there, there are many variables such as how many dogs, how many questions etc etc, but we will try & give a good coverage.. You could bring your dog & if i is crate trained bring the crate. Not sure what you mean by basket case, but the crate can help an anxious dog through the day...
  3. K9: Yeah the whole event is jam packed! Judi & I have agreed to bust our butts to make this one something to remember! K9: you can bring any dog you can handle, we may work with all or only some of the dogs, time dependant. Dogs wont leave the workshop "fixed" as such, behaviour modification takes time. K9: As I said, any dog you like, I would love to see wildy high drive hyper dogs when talking about training in drive, they make the best demos... I am interested in coming mainly because i own a pet care care business as well as a trainer and am involved in dog sports.
  4. K9: we have emailed our mailing lists the first ticket offer, if you thought you were on our lists & have not recieved the email, please contact us ASAP on [email protected]
  5. K9: no need to make it a small brag!, you did extremely well! Congratulations you have done very well...
  6. RF: we are in the process of setting up a payment system for those who havent got all the $$ up front...
  7. K9: MarkS, there are rules on this board as there should be, when I first arrived I must admit that I too had been warned when I stepped outside the rules, there are rules & they need to be abided by. To answer your second question, Troy runs this board, I dont envy him that task, it isnt easy to be unbiased with so many members on so many topics, so lets not give him a hard time.. If you dont like the way that he runs this board & you wish to leave, thats your choice. Troy obviously hasnt banned you so to critisize his ruling on his forum demonstrates just how fair he is... You said you would not return yet here you are, mate your acting out of anger as it seems you have misstook what I had said to you as critisism, when it was simply my opinion, which as you said, is my right... Written word doesnt communicate emotion well, which is just one of the reasons that threads can become heated. Some good advice on this board is, give people the benefit of the doubt.. No harm was meant by what I said, if you think it was condesending you can take it from me that it wasnt meant that way. You said that you knew I was going to lose it, well I didnt lose it, but perhaps as soon as you read anything that wasnt in support of you, you took it as an attack? I dont know... Did I call you on what was said? Sure did, I still think the advice you gave could have gone many ways, & that is something that doesnt sit well with me. These people who need help with their dogs really can be distressed & latch onto any help that comes along, unfortunately for them they may fail & it can cost them big time, thats my major concern with what was written. If those reasons are condesending or too critical, then I am guilty of that.. Lets keep the thread on track & keep our personal crap out of it eh?
  8. K9: Just a heads up, we will be sending our group emails with ticket availability at approx 4pm Tueday (this week) all going well..
  9. K9: The first thing we need to establish is why the dog is whnning, is it because the dog thinks it will get let in if it whines? Is the dog suffereing possibly a mild case of separation anxiety? Some of these things can require completely different training procedures...
  10. K9: generally spending a few hours in a lesson, getting hold of my e collar manual will see most get these type of results, a disclaimer though... BP & Meriment have worked very hard, they are making my programs shine...
  11. K9: lol I wonder what sort of behaviourist would come out & supervise whilst the client carries out someone else's method? ******** edited cos I took off my 'doesnt play well with others T shirt... K9: or plummet into Learned Helplessness or elevate the fear response from avoidannce to fear aggression.. K9: well not yet anyway, but I have seen many a dog find aggresion fast when someone tried flooding, then were dealing with fear aggression... These real possibilities are why we dont give step by step advice over the internet...
  12. K9: According to the OP this is a fear issue, fear is often due to a low threshold to avoidance, AKA weak nerves. The goal of the OP is My goal is to be able to have my 2 year old nephew RUN past her, and have her not even flinch or even wag her tail! A dog with weak nerves may never be able to fulfil that goal... ie this dogs temperament may not be suitable for the OPs goal... K9: sorry I didnt realise you has seen this dog... with you being is South Aust & the dog here in NSW K9: I didnt say this dog cannot be helped, but it seems you have diagnosed this dog & solved the case & it appears the OP doesnt own the dog as yet? This person is looking for a dog that will, in their words "My goal is to be able to have my 2 year old nephew RUN past her, and have her not even flinch :D or even wag her tail!" There is nothing wrong with saying this dog may not be able to do this, & recommending she seek advice from someone who can see the dog...
  13. K9: see this thread, be there in May...http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=121401
  14. K9: Attention!!!!! Details are almost final, those on our email lists will get ticket options for this event hopefully by the end of this week! If you want to come, your best chance is to be on this list!!!!
  15. K9: All good Rom, still willing to make the trip, be last half of 08 now have other commitments that tie me up till after August.
  16. K9: Your dogs temperament may not suit those goals, there may be genetic reasons or learned events that have caused the dog to act this way. Your best move wold be to have your dog evaluated by a Behaviourist & have them lay out your options...
  17. K9: Just re private consults, most likely will be doing 8 in the couple of days before the Friday seminar.. Details soon..
  18. K9: Rom from this forum was thinking of setting up another workshop in Qld, havent heard from her in a while, perhaps give her a PM...
  19. K9: look you DO have to walk on a loose leash with the dog but when the dog already has successful episodes of pulling, the only way to sort this is add an aversive...
  20. K9: I wouldnt go try to cure pack & behaviour problems with surgery, but thats just me... I dont really like rehoming dogs with problems either, seems to be just passing the problem on... Where are you located? You need to see a behaviourist in your area & get this sorted fast.
  21. K9: I dont make all the bookings, but I know for a fact there is not one place before April, not one on any day... If you are serious the best thing would be to send us an email [email protected] & find out when we can see you, book that place & hang on... Once we get started with you, honestly, the results come hard & fast...
  22. K9: We have completed extensive testing on these collars & found them quote good (Jet Care cold spray). Quite good meaning around 70 - 80 % effective where static pulse no bark collars were excellent at around 95 - 99%. These results were from our own tests not manufacturers or other places. Jet Care is the best option for those not wanting to use electronics for what ever reason. They dont cause the issues citronella can cause... I personally would be using the electronics though, no refills, high success rate...
  23. K9: thats the whole idea I told you to trust me... It helped that Ziggy already had some of my training concepts installed, getting her to 100% reliable wasnt a big jump...
  24. K9: They provide great results on Beagles.... K9: yes, but anti bark collars are automatic, no interaction required so they work even if your not home, remote trainers only work when you are there to press the button.. So say you had a dog that barked to get your attention, then they are perfect.. K9: We have had some great results with the Air Spray collars (Jet Care) on Beags...
