Obedience Or Behaviouralist? Which One
Bulldust replied to Bulldust's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Yes i will keep you posted in this girls progress and what we find out why she is doing this.. as for the ignoring commands bit, i can fully understand the adolescent bit  but seeing as all of this only started when the OH came home i think its all linked to him at the moment. -

Obedience Or Behaviouralist? Which One
Bulldust replied to Bulldust's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
She is still an inside dog, but im guessing she does not want to share, after the stressful time they went through she really bonded with the lady and wouldnt leave her side. now she has to share with the OH again I need the contact details of really good behaviourists she can contact, preferably close to her as she does work. -
Hi ! Ive just recieved and email from a lovely lady with a Bull Terrier i gave her a few months ago. This Bully girl is 11mths old now and is recently displaying upset behaviour towards other dogs This lady split from her husband a few months ago and she kept the Bully. They both supported each other and have been told the Bully took it quite hard when OH moved out of home. After awhile she settled down and they have been unseperable. Recently this lady's hubby came back and theyre giving it another try. The Bully girl is now apparently upset, and when they go out she will start barking and growling at any dog who comes near this lady. She will stop when told to stop, but she continues to whimper until the dog/s are gone. Apparently she will do this anywhere, anytime a dog comes near. Though i havent been told if she is actually trying to attack, from what i can gather she just becomes extremely upset. Also from what i have been told she only started this behaviour since hubby moved back in. And also started acting up with the lady, she has stopped listening to her when she gives a command, and is generally 'putting it over' the lady, but only since OH came back. Any ideas as to why this Bully has started this, and where there is some help available in this lady's area? You can PM me if you need to know anything else. I just want to get this girl sorted before it becomes a major problem. Thank you in advance.

I think when they said "typical male" they meant as in, typical male believing that old wives tale... or as in typical male thinking if someone plays with another males bit's theyll luv ya for life you know the sort of typical men that are ruled by their little head instead of the big one

We get our frames for $1kg at Lenards, we have to ring up a day in advance so they have enough for us as we usually buy about 50kg at one time, the frames are good, they still have alot of meat on them to they arent picked clean. Dogs LOVE them, but even though we tried mince from there and it was made in front of us the dogs hated it We just bought 10kg chicken mince for $10 at a chicken factory in Maryborough, it looks and smells better than Lenards but the dogs still arent keen, so we'll just stick to whole frames and only beef mince We have been chasing up a mincer to do fresh kangaroo/rabbit meat and bones and cow meat, and we've been told the only mincers able to do it are the professional ones for around $700+

Ask if you can get an Eagle Pack loyalty card in your store, we do and for every 10 bags we buy we get the 11th free.... based on type and size bag you mostly buy, which is great for us cos we go through nearly a bag a week

My OH believes something he was told as a young teen that if you half wank a dog, for lack of better words, then he will not leave your side because he wants you to finish the job He told me this old bushie did it in front of them while they were sitting around a campfire, and not long after the dog actually ran off and never came back

We buy a block of Philadelphia Cream Cheese (you know those dumb ad's on tv with the angels ) but we get the block, and we pinch a bit off it and roll the tablet in it until the cheese is a ball, my dogs LOOOOOVE it !

New litter ready to start solids, i have been eyeing off this Vets All Natural PUPPY Complete Mix, looks like bird food..... wondering whether this brand and product is a good and reputable product ?? I have started another pup i had on Eagle Pack and raw meats but she did not like the EP. Thought this might be an alternative to dry food, any comments will be great

We order through Pets on the Park they sell almost everything and their postage is lightening fast. Pay with credit card or direct debit. You could always get your vet or local Petstock/Petbarn or your stockfeeds to order it in for you Edited to say Protexin is under the Probiotics link

Bullies wont starve themselves, not in my experience. I have a harder approach i wont buy or make special meals for a fussy dog, they get what the others get, if they dont eat then too bad. I have had great success on Eagle Pack dog food, a pup i sold who used to vacuum her food down wouldnt eat at her new home so i suggested Eagle Pack dry food and she eats very well again now We bought in an older bitch whom the owners swore would starve herself (apparently once for 11 days) if you gave her anything BUT My Dog tinned food. There was no way i was buying 7 tins of that stuff a week so i fed her the normal raw minces and dry food, it took her awhile and she did lose weight but shes as fat as mud now and loves her tucker. They also said shes terrified of water but guess who lies in her wading pool when its hot You could try liver sprinkles i guess from the dog food section in the supermarket

Dogs need Protexin (which is an acidophilus sort of mixture havent used it for awhile) if they have sensitive or upset stomachs, or are on medication namely Clavulox etc, same in humans if we are on penicillan we are supposed to eat yogurt or have Yakult to keep our stomach happy as the medication strips all the good bacteria out of your digestive system I desperately needed Protexin (in any form) 2wks ago when my sick 2wk old pup was on Amoxyclav and none of my dumbar$e vets had it, i used the soluble powder last time i think ill buy the liquid before my next litters due so it can be easily added to their milk if needed

Ive been having a 'little' trouble with my 4wk old hand rared puppy and she actually humped my hand a couple of days ago, and shes 4 WEEKS OLD! Hers is a definate sign of dominance.

Thank you dfa and Sir WJ, really helpful info! I have moved her to a room where there is alot of foot traffic and noise, and she seems to be getting better already! I know the best/worst? is yet to come though when she finds her feet

C-section Possible as the breeder was not allowed in during the c-section so who knows. Very interesting albeit scary great to know Great to bring to my attention no she wouldnt be used to being crawled on and nudged, bumped etc so she wouldnt think this was normal. But still i have been touching her since day one she should be used to me? Will look into moving toys etc ANYONE

Hi Tapferhund, with me, and alot of other Bully breeders, calcium sandoz is given during natural whelping or a calcium injection after a c-section is the norm, for us anyway.

Thanks for all your ideas guys!! BelgianPup thats interesting that your friends pup did that, i may have thought my gal was doing the same except she drops in a snarl every so often too with her growling Christina perhaps it differs between breeds? I wouldnt have a clue Staff 'n' Toller its a great idea i just dont know of anyone at all whom id trust to have her for awhile who has a young litter though i wouldnt want them any older than 4wks either badboyz she doesnt spend a huge amount of time by herself, all night shes alone in her bed but since ive had her shes been picked up and cuddled and nursed especially when we're watching tv we have her out on our laps (trying to get her to sleep on us LOL) ive been the one raising her from a day old so shouldnt she be extremely bonded to me as im 'mummy' ?? Thats what i dont get! Im mummy, she should LOVE me :D spyda62 she learnt growling from about 2wks old and she knows how to bark already i dont think shes just doing it cos she can unfortunately :D Im just a little worried what shes gonna be like in the next few weeks and whether we'll have ruined her for life because we did something wrong
