He will be on the Channel 10 news tonight that starts at 5pm, and possibly Channel 9 news at 6pm. I think he is doing a fantastic job.

Yep, think they are struggling with the standard. That law was passed, but the standard has never materialized. They were probably in no rush because of the amnesty, but now with the talk of stopping the amnesty, it may all of a sudden come to light. Who knows.

Simple. Round up anything with a big head, smooth coat and weighing over 18kg that isn't ANKC registered and kill the lot. Anything red or brindle will be first in line. And don't think it can't happen. This is already in force in Victoria. It was amended last September to add crosses of Restricted Breeds. The article that stated they would bring in a ban on crosses, (way back in the thread, sorry I am late catching up on the thread) also incorrectly stated the amount of fines if your dog killed or seriously injured a person. This was all changed last year and I think the pollie that mentioned it hasn't caught up on things. As far as I know, they haven't hit anyone with having a restricted breed cross as yet, and the reason is, they mention in the Act that they will be judged by a standard. The standard they are speaking of has not been written as yet.

I would ask Jetpets why the big difference in price, they may match the price of even better it. Also, the price overall would depend where they are being picked up from and delivered to at the other end.

Animal Welfare Groups Say Australian Dogs Are Being 'sold Into Mis
sumosmum replied to SwaY's topic in In The News
I wonder if those figures on export permits are correct. Might give customs and aqis a call myself and ask. Years ago, a whole shipment was often listed on one permit, as in, the one permit serial number would cover a large shipment of say 30-40 pups, all going on the one airway bill. It may be done differently now, not too sure. -

Animal Welfare Groups Say Australian Dogs Are Being 'sold Into Mis
sumosmum replied to SwaY's topic in In The News
The bulk shipments of puppy farmed pups has gone on since the early 90s. Mostly they started the huge shipments to Hong Kong. Some days, just out of Melbourne airport, over 100 in a single day. The other main airports airports, Sydney and Brisbane were the same if not more. Pups often died on the flight. Many pups were younger than 8 weeks of age at the time, and vaccination certs were falsified. The RSPCA, Quarantine and Customs of course were well aware of it, but there was nothing done about it. The RSPCA couldn't do anything at the time, and Quarantine weren't very interested. The airlines couldn't or wouldn't do anything about it, as it was business. Very sad, and very upsetting for staff who tried to do something about it, but it all fell on deaf ears. There was and still is a lot of money involved in all of this, and I think that is the driving force behind the whole revolting business. The TV stations and the newspapers were also well aware of it, and a few articles and segments have been aired over the years, but then the whole thing just gets swept under the carpet again. With any pups that die, and there were quite a few that I knew about years ago, nobody owned them as pets, they were just merchandise, and the shippers and transport agents couldn't care less. Puppy farmers, and the large dog transport company...........it's all just business! -

George Schofield - Dog Chiro
sumosmum replied to Pretty Miss Emma's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yes that is correct. He didn't usually work on Tuesdays. I suppose you could always give him a call and check. I didn't know about him having a knee operation. I hope he recovers well. -
This is a link to a chart, showing dog and cat dosage rates for antihistamines. You need to work it out by weight. But, I wouldn't be medicating another persons dog without vet advice. Also, some medication is not to be cut or broken. With a Chix I would think that it would be a very small dose, so you would need to check with the vet or chemist if the tablets are able to be cut. I use the Easiyo as well. The Greek one. Yes, I think it is cheaper. Around $4 or a bit less for a litre. -

Update from our household after 1 week. I have 5 dogs. The 3 that I inherited from my Mum, and my 2. A SBT, and 4 little terrier cross rescue dogs all up. All of them are enjoying the BH. The SBT has never really like dry food and would never eat it without something mixed in, but he actually likes to eat the BH any way he can get it. Straight or mixed. All of the others are also enjoying the dry food. All looking good, and very happy. One of the little dogs, the oldest one,was missing my Mum a lot I think (she was with my Mum when she died), and I noticed she dropped a bit of weight. She now seems to have put a bit of weight back on which I am pleased about. So, I am very pleased with this food for our family.

That's interesting, as she has been digging a lot cause of the puppy Did your spots come up very quickly Yep, they did come up quickly. I was really worried because I had previously lost a cat with a white nose to skin cancer and it looked similar to when it started on the cat. The vet actually picked at one of the dogs spots and I suppose could tell from the sore underneath that it didn't really look like skin cancer. That was when he said to try the cats ear drops on them. He said to remove the scab/crusty outer layer where I could and apply the drops. The dog also had a white nose, hence my worry of skin cancer. A friend at work shortly after had a similar problem with her beagle and I suggested the drops, and it worked for her too. Might be worth a try. Perhaps you could ask the vet if it would do any harm. I wouldn't like to suggest anything that would harm your dog or go against your vets instructions. They may even have better drugs for these sort of fungal thngs now (if that is what it is), that was years ago with my dog.
-
One of my dogs many years ago had something that looked the same on her nose. I was worried at the time that it may have been skin cancer. The vet thought it was something he called "diggers nose"(and some other technical term which I can't remember) and told me to apply anti fungal ear drops that I already had for my cats ears. The same ear drops that are used for ear mites. Anyway, it worked. The vet said it was from a fungus that is in the earth......diggers nose.

I just bought one of these on Friday. $11.00 from Mitre 10. :D It was hard to find know if the other plastic containers were food grade. At least this one stated that on the actual container. I get a bit sus of plastic and the chemicals.
