Reaction Of Chinese People To My Dog
doit4thedogz replied to GSDowner's topic in General Dog Discussion
I know what you mean. It upsets me because women are scared of spiders. Like when they see one they scream or walk wide onto a tarmac, then back onto the footpath. It must be offensive to spider fanciers. -

Why is it that Americans fear muslims. Muslims must feel fustrated that they are expected to go out of their way to avoid them(Americans). -
Thinking About This Whole Pit Bull Thing

Not for everyone, that's true. Just as a Border Collie, Lab, Rotti, Chi or Pom, etc have their place. My point is: they are more likely to be child/family friendly than most breeds, it's just the way they are. That's the truth Child friendly, yes. For your average family,no. Mixing up working dogs and family dogs is a common cause of problems. -

they can be child friendly. like many other breeds can. But would not recommend to someone who doesnt understand the dogs because they arent for everyone and thats the truth. -

American papers.. What sort?? They could be duel registered in America as American Staffordshire Terriers and American Pit Bull Terriers. Then they are quite legal in Australia to import, to own and to breed. If they are registered with the AKC as an AmStaff then they would have an ANKC recognised pedigree. Therefore legal. We see a dual registered entire AmStaff/APBT and his pups quite regularly. I think she means ABDA papers. -
supply and demand. Hard to breed. Few pups. Most don't live long. Not many around. etc. So supply is low. Therefore breeders can charge more. As for peddling, this would not even be a good breed. Who would bother to peddel this breed? Like others have said. No problems with $3000 for a quality dog. But british bulldogs are far off. But if you have the cash, why not.

Thats the problem. Infection. The dog has a history of fighting/ violence in it's home country. The breed has long been assosiated with dog fighting, drugs, violence, gangs etc in the USA. This has a spillover effect onto the rest of the world. In the USA breed is filled with controversy, dodgy registeries, fake papers, dog fighting, bad breeding practices , puppy farming etc. This is happening in Australia. Overpopulation, BYBs pumping out litters etc. -

Yes, silly people, why didn't they reach into the ambulance and just grab it. Cause ambos know all about dog fighting. Like some people on this forum. -
hostility to strangers is what allows some dogs to work ie to carry out thir purpose. without that innate ability to confront and contend, they cannot do the jobs that are expected of them. Likewise dogs that don't have this capacity, cannot do the jobs that "big dogs with extreme protective behaviour" are expected to do. Breeders aren't being bad eggs. They are in fact being good breeders, by keeping their breed(s) sound and steady, though yes with a temperamental capacity very different to many other breeds of dogs, such as your everyday labardor  The trouble starts when breeders start pumping out litters and selling them to anyone, teenages, families, etc. Some working dogs are best kept by people who understand them and work them, not as family pets, nanny dogs, accessories. The popularity of certain breeds have lead to over breeding. Greedy breeders who own a couple of dogs and breed every season. Overbreedung brings down their price and every bogan can own one. Before you know it, there's a high energy, high prey drive, athletic , unstable, dog in every bogans backyard and the cycle goes on.

My older dog and the pup eat and drink out of the bowl without a fuss. My older dog just plays too rough, most of the time my is trying to get away. Thanks for everone for adive and sgaring stories. I guess it's supervised play for now.
-
Thanks for that Showdog. I just thought that she may have sorted him out akready after 5 days of roughing him up.
-
Alot of the time he's not even interested, or wanting to fight. She does all the rough rumble. He's just walking around and minding his own business. If she hurts him he will yelp, or bark. I think this is more of a jealously issue. I do spend time alone wtih her. She won't leave him alone and really roughs him up.

Hi everyone. I bought a 12 week old male Staffy puppy 5 days ago. The problem is, he is a dominant little boy and my older female is also a dominant dog. I've tried to let them play around, sniff each other and work each other out. But it has now been 5 days and they still can't play and stay together withou problems. My female plays too rough with him, knocking him over, holding him down and now they have started mouthing each other. I'm afraid she will seriously hurt him. He's a small pup and she is almost 23 kgs. I thought they would sort out their issues after a while, but no this continues to go one. They're driving me crazy as I can't let them play unless I have my eyes on them. Help PLease!! Anyone!!
