  2. THanks BP.., Yeah i do want one!! I think i need one actually. I have read this with heaps of interest and am amazed adn thrilled that you have got such a response from both your dogs. I am in awe and want tsome of what you have!! K9: see this thread, be there in May...http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=121401 Steve, i have already sent pm, but had not gone back to check if dates were set.
  3. THat is awesome!! CAn i ask a question? When you do recall, you call teh dog and them give them the stim to encourage them to you? If they dont come they get the negative of the stim? If that is not it, how does using the collar work? Could i use an e collar to stop a dog from playing to rough? to get her to recall? to get her to be quiet and so much in over drive? Steve, when are you coming to Melbourne? And when you do are you bringing the collars with you?
  4. Dogsforall i am sorry to hear about your girl. Fingers crossed you have more time with her
  5. Anne that is WONDERFUL news!!
  6. Sorry BP, i was thinking that maybe it is going inwards as well as outwards and that was why she was shaking her head. I am so sorry you had a bad morning. You must have been distraught all day. I think about you and Keisha, Anne and Sophie and Zed and Zed_n_Q every day and hope you get another day together. Hugs from me and mine and i hope you have some more time left with eachouther
  7. BP with the head shaking could it be that the tumor has grown and is taking up more space? And causing pain? Poor Keisha. Please give her a hug from me BP How are Sophie and Zed doing today? Hugs for them also
  8. My vet had no idea what titre testing was. At all. I explained it and told them it needed to go to perth , no idea.

    Puppy Collars

THats what we do here too. Collars are undone not leads. They see the collar and lead come out and KNOW it is walk/car/playtime
  10. I think if it is working for you then keep it up. GSDs and rotti are prone to HD so you need to be more careful. And giant breeds too

    Puppy Collars

Sorry but that is a crock. My dog could get his collar off if he needed too. BUT when a dog is caughton something and goes into panic mode, well anything can happen. I lost Barkerin june lastyear, Springergirl lost Max just before christmas - both strangled through their collars. LMWS nearly lost one of her a few years ago but managed to revive him. Many on DOL have had close calls. Not with it in my opinion if your dog is chipped and lost then it wil come home. If someone is dodgy and takes your dog in, it wont matter if it has a collar on or not, they will take it in and keep it anyway ETA Just 2 ofus that have lost dogs in the last 6 months http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...1&hl=barker http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=119798 ETA2 this also http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...=105495&hl=

    Puppy Collars

As a person who lost a dog to strangulation through a collar, alli can say is,unless you are there DO NOT put a collar on her. Get her used to one but she can walk on a harness too. Whatever works for you.
  13. hmmmmm. she is border collie isnt she? what does the breeder say?
  14. You have to remember that you are changing what she expects. What about moreoff lead playing? Maybe even 30 minutes but split up into 2 lots.
  15. Phillipa aka Sagitarius (sp) is the owner. She is wonderful IR i can get it and get it to pakenham if it makes it easier but they also have a delivery service
  16. Have to say i agree with keeping them seperate unless supervised as well as getting her desexed by 6months.
  17. See i agree that less is best when talking aboutonlead FORCED exercise. I have a gsd,he gets walked but slowly and he dictates the pace and it is only a few times a week he gets lots of off leadplay that he sets the pace for. Dogs that are prone to HD, you need to be cautious with. However, each to their own, you can only take what your breeder adn others reccomend and make your own decision
  18. Do u mean home prepared cooked rice and chicken? or something else? I just followed vets advice on the cortisone. I didn't think it was something dogs could be on long term. But it's worth running it by the vet, I spose Maybe try DVP natural organic or Eagle pack holistic. You can get fish based foods which tend to be less allergenic.
  19. DO YOU KNOW WHERE you can buy this stuff in vic? i cant seem to find it. 4 Paws n More in Keilor stock it
  20. My pup was having chicken frames at 8weeks. cut the chooks in to 6-8 pieces and he shoudl be right just watch him

    Peeing

At the breeder was he on concrete all teh time or did he have a concrete area for bed and a grass/dirt area for toileting/playing? Cause sometimes that can make them do that., He is fine without anything anyway - maybe give it a couple of weeks and retry the bedding he may just be too young

    Peeing

HEy Catsmother, Is he weeing as soon as you put him in the crate? Or is it in the middle of thenight? If it is in the middle of the night, set your alarm for every 3 hours and take him out to wee. That might stop it.
  23. Julesp check out dick van pattens. It is all organic and great for all ages. It is about the same price as the EP maybe a tad cheaper. It is really really good.
  24. Fantastic Pebbles!!!!!!
  25. I have 2 females (jrta nd a hamilton stovare) and a male gsd. The two girls were desexed BEFORE their first season. Mitchia t 6 months and Hunta the hamilton at 11months - they usually have their first season between 12-14 months Daire as he is a show boy will not be being desexed. Personally if you are not showing i would get a bitch done before their first season. It is up to you but MOST vets say by 6 months. My vet still says it to me even though he knows daire is a show boy Unless you can keep your girl pup150% safe and away from ebntire males then desex her before her first season
