Hey, I was at "that club" for over 2 years, then saw the light!!!!! Just jokes, Tim and Tanya I don't do training at WDTS anymore, I used to do obedience with Mawson (puppies, levels 1, 2 and 3) and Migaloo (level 1) and agility with Mawson, but then I went back to Brierly cause it suited Migaloo's DA better with exposure to dogs running off lead. I miss doing agility with Mawson tho. Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow at 10:30 at the FOTTY oval

Pandii said 10:30 suits, so unless I hear otherwise I will be there then I live nearby, so I will just walk up with Maws, might leave Migs at home I reckon Looking forward to meeting you Tim and Tanya and Munchin, and look forward to seeing everyone else.

Hi everyone... I'm not being antisocial again, but we have had the rellies down for the weekend cause of Giorgio's graduation on Friday so it has been a little chaotic to say the least! 11 loud Italians is a recipe for a cyclone and that's what we got! Tlc, your pics are AMAZING!!!! Thanks heaps for the ones you sent me... I have to say that one of my faves is actually the sepia one that you posted in the thread, beautiful! Giorgio was a bit chuffed to see himself online too! I agree with you that Boof is very photogenic and so is Sebbi, oh gosh I love the squishy front on one!!! Gorgeous!! Sorry we missed you Pandii on Thursday, and so sorry to hear that your boy was so sick. Also didn't get your message about bringing OH down to meet Sebbi yesterday, we were too flat out with rellies. Tenties, Mawson LOVED his chicken frames for his birthday dinner, thanks again you are too kind. RJ, sorry that tld didn't get a pic of you falling on your butt! Was worried you had hurt yourself but then you started laughing!! Munchin, that was awesome of you to give your kennel to Pandii, please can we have a pic sometimes??! Hope to catch you all again soon, should be able to get back online a bit more now that I am free of Italian rellies...... :nahnah:

He's only doing it cause it's Mawson birthday!! Sorry you can't make it RJ, I hope your headache goes away right NOW! Tenties, we might see you there... Tlc, will see you at 3, did you manage to find that bag for me to have a look at?? Hi Stud dog, what sort of doggies do you have?? See some of you this arvo and thanks for Mawson's birthday wishes!!

Hi everyone, Pandii, so sorry to hear about your kids, gosh what a shocker!! So, might just be tlc and me tomorrow? I'll keep my fingers crossed for your kids Pandii, also so that you can come, but also just for you and the kids to feel better!! I spoke with OH last night and he said that 3pm would suit him. Is that ok for you guys?? Figured it was long enough before the "Harris St group" arrives!! Hope to see as many of you there tomorrow at 3pm as possible. Pandii, if you do come, can you bring Seb??

Oh, almost forgot to post... it is Mawson's 5th birthday on Thursday, just wondering if anyone will be around for a play date at Harris Street that day?? Let me know if any of you are free....

Oh, so much to catch up on!!!! I am not being antisocial - I just don't have intenet at home, I only have it at uni and I don't go in very often or if I do, it's usually just to check email quickly. I did actually post a message on Friday arvo, but the page crashed before I clicked post so lost it........... So, Pandii sorry to hear about your boys broken thumb, I hope it heals soon. Teneties, I'm sorry to hear that you have flu, I hope you recover quickly... RJ, thanks for enquiring about the flyball thing, sounds like we could have a go, just hope that we don't have an issue with being past members...... Jerojath, it was great to meet you and your girls at the park, hpe we can do it again sometime. Tlc, great pics as usual, gosh you will cause damage when you get the big bopper out!!! Great pics of yours with all the big (and little) doggies! Will be in this arvo to get some paint from you!! Munchin, your pups are very cute! Hope we get to meet you sometime...

Oooh, I just caught up with the last 7 pages of this thread!! You can add the crazy whale lady to the meet on Friday!! I will bring both doggies in the car and Maws can mix with everyone and we'll see how Migs goes on the day. Thanks for changing to 11am, I will be cleaning koala poop until at least 10. And the OH is away so no probs with him saying I should be studying instead!! I'm sure we'll catch up with it all on Friday but I have been to both WDTS at Harris St and MDT at Brierly and I reckon they are both different enough to cater for most dog owners. Mawson did puppy school at WDTS and then moved to MDT cause WDTS was finishing for the year and Mawson was 5 months and I desperately wanted to continue his and my training as I had not had a pup for 20 years! I really liked Brierly's approach and did training for a while there (met Pandii and Ty then). Then I decided that I wanted to do agility with Mawson so we went back to WDTS and did agility and class 3 training there. Then we got Migs and I started class one with her there but she was a bit overwhelmed so I decided to stick to it with Mawson. Then Migs developed DA, and at the same time, I was having some issues with Mawson at agility (with the trainers, not with him) so we decided to go back to MDT when Migs could be exposed to off lead dogs. I mainly do training with Migs at MDT now and Maws gets a run before and after class, but I am desperate to start a flyball team here, if enough of us are interested, and we can run it through one of the clubs for insurance purposes, I'm all for organising it! Oh, on another note... have a think about whether your dog would like to be a therapy dog in a nursing home or hospital? Mawson does it with the Delta Society but we don't get to do it very often cause I have to go to Geelong. The coordinator has said that she will try to arrange a facility in Warrnambool if I can rustle up enough interest for people to have their dogs assessed. Its really not that hard, as long as your dog has an even temperament you will have no probs, they don't have to be angels... tlc knows that Maws isn't!!

Hi all, just trying to keep in the loop... I haven't been getting online as much as I would like! Not me in the car and I don't know who has the 6 or 7 dogs either. Not very useful am I and not contributing much at all really, but just wanted to feel like I was keeping in touch tlc, won't be at training this weekend cause we've gotta go to Melb for the day after the wedding in Lorne on Sat. See you the following week... Hopefully we can plan a nice big dol doggie play date sometime soon  I know Maws is hanging out for a play with Ty and would LOVE to meet Sebbi!!
-
Hi guys!!! tlc told me about this thread at training yesterday!! I haven't been on dol for a while and even when I have, I have been in the rescue thread, not social as nothing normally happens down this way!! That is so cool that there is so many of us in SW Victoria. I know Pandii and tlc, but may know some of the others cause W'bool is a small place!! Pandii, are you fostering the little black pei from Peibe?? I was looking at that thread a few days ago! Would love to meet up sometime, Mawson is cool with everyone (just watch for him pissing on your stuff, as of yesterday tlc's legs... sorry!), but my Migaloo is not very social. Can try her out with some chilled out dogs sometime, Pandii, she might be ok with Ty?? Def. not with Dante, I think and not sure about Sebbi. Anyways, will keep an eye out on this thread!!

It really is horrible when you have no time to stop, they are just so unpredictable sometimes . Good on you for stopping and checking the pouch . The only other thing I would recommend to you and everyone else on here that reads this post is to check the surrounding area for pouch young. Often at the point of impact the joey can easily get thrown clear of the pouch and end up metres away. This is even more important if the young are a little bit older they might get thrown and then try to hop away, so please if you are unfortunate enough to hit any marsupials when driving, please check the surrounding area for pouch young. And a last note, for everyone that is unfortunate enough to hit ANY wildlife, please stop and move the animal well off the road. Even if it already well and truly dead, other animals like wedgetail eagles and other birds of prey will likely come to eat the carcass and will end up as road kill as well, so please, even though it is a bit gruesome, please stop and drag the animal well clear of the traffic. THANK YOU! RIP KANGAROO

When dogs come into the pound, they all get vaccinated, wormed and flea treated on arrival and I assume some of them have recently been wormed. I have never seem an obvious effect from over-worming. I think they should be ok, maybe give the vet a quick call to double check and put your mind at ease?

I agree with the two replies above. I have to use sunscreen on migaloo if she goes out in the sun and when I tried a human one once, she really freaked out and pawed at her face and was really bothered by it. I guess it has a different ph or something. I use filtabac now.

I only just saw this Pandii.... I am so sorry for your loss :D Run free little Keeto I know it happened a while ago but if you want a shoulder...

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone knows what might be causing Mawson to start sneezing excessively over the past 24 hours?? I got a torch last night and had a really good look up his nose and I can't see anything that might be bothering him (grass seed??). I heard something about sneezing being the start of kennel cough... Mawson has had kennel cough 3 times but it has never started with a sneeze? Any ideas??

 :D I am so sorry to hear this news, he was such a stunning boy and I am so glad that I got to spend a short time with him and that he foster failed with you Warley  You have your wings now Houndee/Scout

I have been getting conflicting information about this for a while now and I am really concerned about my dogs getting annual vaccinations now. My dog that I had growing up never had any shots past his puppy ones and never had any problems but my rotti x that I have now has had ALL of his puppy shots and annual vaccinations and he is about to turn 4, and my boxer has had two annual vaccinations but we don't know whether she had puppy ones (she was adopted a year ago at a year of age). The reason mine have had their annual vaccinations is because they board regularly and attend dog school and these facilities require proof of vaccination. Is there any way around this?

I use one of those walkydog attachments with my rotti x (40kg) and even if he pulls to the side the bike stays really stable, I was surprised by how effective it is. My only problem is that when he puts on the brakes (after about 3 minutes of running  ) it doesn't matter how hard I try to pedal, 40kg pulling backwards does not make you go very fast!!!! I reckon a border than pulls forwards would be fun!!!! Both my rotti and my boxer wear harnesses when using the walkydog. I got my walkydog for $49 from the rspca world for pets website store, cheapest I could find on the web at the time

Does Anyone Know If Pink Skin Takes Longer To Heal?
mawson replied to mawson's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks FTPO and Pandii for your replies... I have also noticed a few other threads added about pink spots, etc. in the last 24 hours. I will go and have a read of them in a minute. Pandii, i am out at sea atm but will be back in few weeks (hopefully by the 1st March). Will drop in to see you, but sounds like Migs isn't the only one to heal slowly. I have always used the vet on the highway, but I was thinking to get a second opinion from lava st. I take all my wildlife rescues there as they were really good with the koalas after the fires and have basically always done wildlife stuff. I have got to know a few of them now so I thought i'd give it a try. I really like my current vet and value her opinion, but a second one when it comes to surgery doesn't hurt! I would prefer if it was slow healing wounds from playing with Mawson, but maybe thats just what I want to hear and not the sunspots. -

Thanks for your reply FTPO... no she doesn't scratch at all at the spots, in fact she does not seem bothered by them at all. The only thing is that she HATES having the sunscreen put on them, but then I think she hates the sunscreen regardless!! Yes, I think a second opinion would be good... I have been thinking to try the other clinic in town as I use them for my wildlife work, now would be a good time! If anyone else has had experience with skin not healing well, please let me know. -
Hi all, I have a white boxer that I rescued almost a year ago. She was about a year old then and we are unsure of her history. Since we adopted her, we have been very careful with her skin and keeping her out of the sun but she has had some fairly severe spots come up quite recently on her lips and muzzle. I took her to the vet a few weeks ago and she said that they are fairly nasty looking sun spots and they will have to be removed surgically (which she also told me would disfigure her face). There is one factor that doesn't quite convince me that they are sunspots. She wrestles regularly with my rotti x and occasionally rolls on the grass, both of which seem to open up her skin quite easily. Then when there is a cut or scratch on her skin, it is very obvious and seems to take FOREVER to heal. She recently got a small cut on her back leg and after taking a few days to form a scab, it then took about 3 weeks to heal over and is still quite obvious. She regularly gets scratches on her face which also seem to take a long time to heal and I am wondering if this is what the vet is thinking is sun spots? Has anyone else had a dog that had skin which seemed to take forever to heal? Of course, if they are actually sun spots on her face and they do need to be removed, then I will do it, but I am concerned about having to do it to her too regularly in her life, I mean, if they are removed now, of course she is only going to get more as time passes. How much should you put a dog through surgery on her face in her life? Any ideas or suggestions appreciated!
