  1. Hate to break it to you but the Whippets would be long gone, leaving her to face the music. They weren't poacher's dogs of choice for no reason. UUMMM sorry Aidan2, I will agree with you Poodlefan the Whippy's would be long gone, to leave the poor GSD's to explain or should I say grovel Whippet being built for speed know when to split the scene of the crime, so they dont get caught. The poachers had the right idea back in the old country.
  2. Here Here I agree Poodlefan, Whippys are brilliant at thieving Hmm, it seems my canine crime ring needs to recruit some Whippets! My GSD can open windows, and smash them if they don't open. She even used the big old key which we'd foolishly left in the back door once. I'm thinking she can do the breaking, the Whippets can do the entering. Then if the cops come, she can flee the scene and leave the little guys to plead innocence Definately Partners in Crime, A lot of pleading to be done not just to the cops but to mum & dad who are Security Guards :D
  3. Exactly what poodlefan said. I bet Afghan Hounds are down the bottom of the list! I'm yet to meet a dumb Afghan. Sneaky, cunning and highly intelligent is what they are! I'd rate Whippets in the top 10 for thievery. Here Here I agree Poodlefan, :D Whippys are brilliant at thieving, OH dont forget they are great at Bench Surfing :p Papillons are great at Problem solving :D We have these two breeds & they certainly keeps us on our toes
  4. We would be up for the group ride but I think its a bit far for us to travel sorry Terrenik but is anyone wants to do a group ride here in the S.E Melb!!
  5. I guess near the river, (moonie ponds just down the road)??? if so Bulla is closer to you than Ashleigh & Leigh my nan lives near Maribyrnong river
  6. Depends on where the person in question lives & how far that person wants to travel for the training
  7. :D took my boy out earlier he went really well over the diff teraine he didnt miss a beat, we covered about 4k's he kept up the pace, the faster I peddled the better he paced I am very happy with his progress even when we had 3 off leash Jackies go pass, a Bc cross that didnt like us peddling pass. Orlando didnt even take any notice of them just kept the pace.
  8. Hi Melissa Leigh Cogley does show training at Kcc Park on Thurs nights from about 7.30pm, she does the classes in the Pavilion, I have her ph. no if you want it, she is great in handling & explaining every thing to you :D sharon
  9. Thanks Freundund for the info I shall try & see how my boy goes, I am looking at some flat Whippet collars that are overseas as I am unable to try & find some here in Aus.
  10. I would go the leadless option and get creative about where you do your recalls, highly reinforce coming to you etc. Once i was glad Lewis did decide to go past me very slightly and then he did come infront, but he was going that fast my knees were in real danger (think Whippet at not far off top speed on a nice looong recall!), I braced for the impact but he did go just to one side. Since then has has learnt to start shifting his weight back a bit sooner so he can stop and I shorthened up his recalls a little until he learnt to control his speed! I know that feeling of your baby comming at you at 100k's a second, Orlando has done that, he put one judge into stitches of laughter, he flew passed me, realised, spun round on his back legs came back & sat beside me with the look of " I did well mum, didn't I " he has learnt to control his speed now on recall. No matter the distance we do on recall. Like everything we do PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE
  11. Hi Onsntillnflash, have you tried standing with your back against a solid object (fence, wall etc) I found the lunge lead didnt work with my boy, it was sujested to me about a wall of some kind, this worked for me, I had to it a couple of times & the message got through I make my own leads for the dogs & horses, I have a box full of webbing,
  12. Can you bring the Bunyip Cat with you to the Park in the Morning so I can have a squizzy please. I was entered but lost brakes in the car last night , so no car to get there today bummer
  13. Hi freundhund, My main prob is my boy has sliped his flat leather collar a few times when he was younger, so we use a martingale, I will have a go with your sujestion of 2 collars & see how Orlando goes. Being a whippet they have a smaller head than neck.
  14. 10yrs ago I had a neighbour threw a brick over the fence at my Rotties (mum & 2 pups), I saw the brick come flying over just missed hitting them. We paid a visit to the by laws, he was hurt very badly in the back pocket from by-laws & health dept due to where he had his truck parked. He continuasly complained about my dogs barking at night under his daughters bedroom window. Funny thing my babies sleeep inside at night and dont have access to that side of my house. It turnd out to be his own dog. They moved just after the Health Dept went through him & cleaned out his wallet with fines galore Oh revenge is sweet. None of any other neighbours had an issue with my babies.
  15. I have a silly question Terranik, "Can Wippets wear a Martingale Collar"?????? thank you in advance
  16. Oh give me wildlife anyday to ignarent ppl. I have started to get Orlando into a steady pace all's well till an off leash darling dog comes along with ***** owners who do not put their dogs back onleash. In our shire here we are not alowed to walk offleash dogs
  17. Your lucky, give me sand/gravel the odd corrigation and pot hole, where I live we dont really have bike tracks & the ones we do have we have to share with ppl & dogs (most off leash) , over at our local footy ground there is grass, gravel & bitchamin plus lights when footy training is on
  18. You got my vote that the Aus Ch dogs should have their own class , & let the up & comming Ch have a go to get their 100 points to become Ch. If this would happen I would enter my guys in more shows

  21. Whoa Hoa took the plunge , took Orlando (my whippet ) out with the bike, what a natural he has never been near a bike till today, he was very happy to pace beside the bike I also tried our Pappy (Malika) just like Orlando A natural, the pair of them just wanted to keep going & going. Me on the other hand will have to invest in a gel seat, got a bloody sore butt :D
