Anyone Use A Horse Float As A Dog Trailer?
murve replied to Merrirose's topic in General Dog Discussion
I saw a Alpacha float converted for dogs, I have some pics of it I will see if I can upload them from my ph, the front was set as a wardrobe, where the couple hung their suites etc. the back was devided in half, one side had the trolley (set up ) all they has to do was roll it in/out, the other side had eveything else I liked the set up, the float came from Kentucky Floats -

like Ososwift I have trialed with a martingale collar on my Whippet & have not been pulled up by a judge , I have also used a correction chain & nothing was said to me about swaping to a flat collar. My boy only wears his flat collar at home, when I work him he wears his martingale collar When I have taken part in Foo at Kcc park, the judges only asked the people who had halti's to remove them & use another type of collar.

Took our Pappy out this morning I think she did well , we covered 2km's at a speed of 8.5 -9 k's she is pulling side ways a bit, we have to do some work there, other than that she pulled up well oh so did I We are now entered in the Hungarian Vizsla trial, 3 weeks to go & counting

Hi Emery, just read through the Rules/Regulations of Et from ANKC, there is nothing about what sort of bike you ride as long as you have a helmet, it looks more at the dog procedure of doe's & dont's well if your riding horses at 41 weeks you could romp this in good luck
-
Cool Trina we should get together & do some laps . I have the same with our guys, go near the bikes & thats it they go phyco running from the bikes to where thier leads hang near the front door Pm if you want to meet up for a couple of laps

Whose prego you or the dog?????? if you are depends how far you are, gees I was splitting wood, riding horses till about 3 weeks before I had my daughter but thats what happends when you lived in the bush. It would probably help doing exercise, makes the birth easier, sorry guys a little off the subject For the dogs sake it helps tooooo we worked our girls till the day they dropped with no probs at all

Hi TrinaJ I have started cycling 6-8 k's, I was advised last night by ph to do 6-8k's about 3-4 times a week & have a vet check done now to see how his physical is. Then again within 2 weeks before the trial so the vet can fill out the vet check form we have to take with us on the day Thanks Murve Your welcome TrinaJ :) may I ask where are your training atm, we are doing our training at the local footy ground, it's 1k from my place. I found the footy ground good it has the 3 diff teraine we cover in the trial. :D going round in circles but I have it being safe while training, give me more of a chance to concerntraite on our speed & the dogs gait.

went out at day break this morning & done 6 km's with Orlando, he did really well kept up the pace at 11.5 km's, Orlando pulled up great me a little bit sore but working on it ;) Looking at taking Malika (our Pappy ) out later to check on her pace, now I have my stupid speedo working I can work on her better & build her up. I must be putting a small breed dog through, but what the hell we are both getting exercise
-
Thank you for clearing that one up Wouldn't that be good - turning up on the wrong day! Which have you entered? M We are looking at doing Hungarian Vizsla club at Kcc park, can you tell me is there any forms the vet has to fill out??, do I get that from the Secratary We are looking forward to the Challenge

Massed Dog Obedience... Off-road Style
murve replied to TerraNik's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
:D What can I say, credit is due to all the participaints to having the guts to do this :p great to see something of this magnatude to pull off where dogs are off lead Great job done ;) our Pappy would refuse to take part ;) our whippet will work in the rain where as most wont if I am out in the rain he is there with me -
I know my boy is not a Bc, Orlando is a whippet which are about the same size, he has a 36" crate but always gets himself into the Papps crate which is a 24" I do have some pic's I should dig up, it is quite funny the posie's he is in the small crate . A Whippet breeder I know puts 2 whippy's in a 36" with still room for them.

What lovely babies Skip this is Teddy one of our boys

I don't know how many you are smokers out there, but I am have been trying to give up for years now, after trying everything on the market I have found the solurtion for me After starting all this training with Orlando for the Endurance ride, I have cut back hell of a lot. This morning I decided to bike ride to our accountants (on the other side of town ) to do the @#@#$ Bas, got the bike out, got out the front door & low & behold Orlando got out by jumping the Baby gate & was waiting to go with me. Oh boy did he crack the poops with me leaving him behind Our training is going good being a sighthound he discovered bunny rabbits the other night, (well you could imanagine it the prey instincts kicked in) he tried to chase them forgetting I was on the other end of the lead with the bike ;)

:D tell me about we use to have about 5/6 Rotties, its fun when they are trying to be lap puppies, yes going from large breed to small/med breed & changing the way the training is done is fun I can say our paps have big dog syndrome, very outgoing & will move out the way very quickly. I did stress at first with our babies ( but that was in the first couple of months) now I dont worry
-
being a security guard we use to work with dogs all the time, doing patrols, (we dont use dogs anymoreon patrols), now I am mostly in the office & our guys get to come along & lounge around where they like & play, they are spoilt rotten. :D
-
Have you thought about a Whippet, they are gentle, love going for walks or even trot beside a bike, can live with cats, very short coat, mine spend at least 19hours a day asleep. Very much coutch potatoes, but will move like lightning when its time for a walk :D

Hi Skip may I ask what breeds are your 2 darlings??? We have 3 pappy pups (one is for sale) that run with their mum & a 3yr old Whippet, my partner has got a 8yr old Rottie, 4yr Cavie x & a 9yr old JRT, they all get along great the Rottie is the Alpha dog, if the pups get to noisy he just goes up & gives a bark at them & walks away. Pups do soon learn when the older dogs in the family have had enough, the ages we have vary from 7months through to 9yrs, 8 dogs in all :D yep I know to many
