I don't think I would be hard to miss having a Whippet & a Pappy close by :D I wouldn't like to sit in the slushy mud so in a way I don't blame my boy Hopefully we will do better
-
We would have got our 1st pass yesterday alvo if the little horror had done the 3 sits Oh well, my partner asked me this morning when is our next trial, I told him that Hastings(Vic) is on the 26th June, he told me to get the entry in :D This weekend is the first time he has ever been to Obedience/Agility trials & loved it, my partner use to show dogs & after a while started to hate it, so he got out. Now who is eagar to work the dogs

hi Ptolomy thanks for the vote of confidence :D Footwork was great both the judges commented it was the best they have seen for a long time Both judges also commented if they were a dog they wouldn't want to sit or drop in wet slushy ground either My boy is a Whippet, both judges we had yesterday also did give us praise for attending & persavering & not pulling out , not like a number of competiters did We are proud of our achievement :D Sorry no video my apologies Murve! that was very rude of me not to congratulate you on your work and your dog in the trials...too worried about me not going seems you are doing really well congrats mate please accept my apology.. aaah dont worry about it :D :D apology accepted :D :D I am also training up a 9 month old Papillon, I have found him to be my trigger to get Orlando to work  im sure you will train him very well:) your dogs are in good hands Thank you Saxonsmum practice 5min -10min a day is good , even when I see my boys in a sit, stand etc I still tell them "yes good boy " praise & a treat

Thats good for a 20 week old, with sit stay, get him to sit, tell him to stay, them just stand right in front of his nose, stay there for a couple of sec's & then return to his right side, keep this up, as time goes by start taking a step or 2 backwards away from the dog both of you will start building conferdence & he will soon get the picture give him a treat & lots of praise when you practice at home :D :D

dont be a chicken if you dont call you wont know :D suggestion if you train in the wet slush wear a pair of gumboots or even horse riding boots that come up to about the knees & have light weight wet/wind pants & jacket are handy :D you can pickem up cheap on Ebay that is where I got mine this is what I wear for training, I also wear my riding boots for trials. Mine came home yesterday covered in slush mud plus my pants up to my knees

Hi Beverly :D to answer your question if training would be held, would depend on the club, some clubs do train in the misty rain, others wont train at all if the grounds are a bit slushy if has rained. probably best to contact your club and ask it would also be upto the individual if they want to or not. I have trained in the rain, yesterday the grounds we were at, it was like a quagmile in places but we ploughed through it, even though the sun was trying to shine :D I have also trialed at the Melb Royal & it bucketed down with rain. It wont hurt to do some training in rain to get your dog use to it, I have seen some dog that are petrified of rain

That is a shame for the Sale club. Hardly seems worth the effort to put the trial on. Would not blame them for cancelling. Hopefully they will get a few more. M Oh they haven't canceled yet, I do hope they get some more, we would like to put Malika in but I don't think she would be ready plus she is inseason

Jess I hope you got home alright through the hectic traffic, it was great to meet you & you guys today :D Hi Trina caught up with Jag's owners today Our trial this morning was bit of a bomb which I half expected due to nearly sinking up to the ankles in wet slush, Heel work ==10 points (refuse to sit & drop), STE ==18 points lifted front right leg & held it there, Recall ==0 points, refuse to sit, Sit Stay == broke & came to me after 2 other dogs broke, Drop Stay 15 points, total 43points This afternoon was a lot better Heel work ==14 points (refuse 3 sits ), STE ==19 points lifted front right leg & held it there, Recall ==14 points, refuse automatic sit had to be told, Sit Stay == 15 points even after 2 other dogs broke & came over & harassed him,he didn't move , Drop Stay 15 points, total 77points :D :D :D I am very happy the this afternoon scores, the judge told me if he done the 3 sits in Heel work we would have got our 1st qualify scores :D :D

-
yes I will :D do you know if they are going to be at Morwell tomorrow???
-
you probably saw Dyzney there - her OH was trailiang Jag (male rottweiler) for CCD - they got a pass in the first trial yesterday was it Vonderzenn Grand Jaguar or Stolzsein Ets Fame and Fortune HT ??? any way only 1 Rottie competed in the alvo, I think it was Vonderzenn Grand Jaguar, he must have bomded it badley as he wasnt even in for the Stays. I did watch him a bit he looked like he was not doing so well
-
Ooooh yea onwards & upwards we will be doing , that judge got blacklisted in my book real quick & my friends that were there yesterday blacklisted him too, mind you one of my friends has never competed under him, she was watching & was competing in a higher level

What Do You Like About Obedience
murve replied to aussielover's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I like the personal challenge of doing better than last week :D effect Working challenge of getting into the dogs brain, me having a Whippet is more challenging than training a smarter/quicker learning bred dog. -
I will be putting that judge behind me & march on to the next trials tomorrow :D it hurts the pride a little, a couple of friends of mine over heard the comment another judge made on the sidelines the heel work was near perfect but lost 1 sit & 1 drop, but its made me more determind :D
-
well I suppose you get that, the judge I had was a very harsh one, out of 8 dogs only 3 passed with us in 4th, the other 3 passed by the skin of their teeth, even they admitted their heel work was worse than us & they cant work out how they got more & we got less. the judge also said I was talking to my dog & I know I wasnt only for the commands
-
hi guys well we did Bairnsdale O/T this afternoon, Orlando work really great lost one sit & one drop in the heel work ==12piont , STE ==20pionts , Recall ==0 needed a second call ( has never done this before) sit stay & drop stay 15pionts each total=== 62pionts me not happy JAN, niether are a number of the trialers even one Judge who couldn't believe the score, In other words got Ripped off in the heel work every body thought I done a near perfect run
-
Told it's not too bad by a work colleague today - forecast still looks ok, I heard there was some flooding down in the far East but doesn't like it's affected Bairnsdale - more Cann River area. I don't head off til tomorrow morning - hopefully will miss the mad long weekend traffic through the city Good luck for tomorrow - hopefully your boy leaves his "boy brain" at home ;) If you've got time Monday, come say hello - I run two black dogs, one is Lab x the other is a BC x kelpie with very pricked ears. :D Hi Jess we will be at Morwell all day on Monday I will keep an eye for you :D Me, I will have a dark blue vest on with an embrioded Whippet on the back, I will also have a Pappy under foot as well as Orlando :D
-
we have 2 trials on Monday under 2 diff judges fingers cross we do better
