New Dog From Breeder.. Something Not Right......
murve replied to mel121's topic in General Dog Discussion
oh bugger you beat me Marion 1 :D I was going to suggest the same thing, go about your daily routine, don't try & make a fuss of her, but knowledge her presence, if you read The dog Whisperer, Jan Fennell says the same thing. I am about to do her Amichien Bonding course, even though we do work on the similar lines as she does, I just want to be qualified  Like you Marion1 we have had the same thing with taking in rescue dogs, rehabilitate them & have placed them in loving homes :D -
How Old Do Handlers Have To Be?
murve replied to Solo pup's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I know there is a young lass who runs with a Staffy, she is about 10 here in Vic but yes could be an idea to do a check with SACA & ask for somebody who deals with the dog sports :) -

The club has already received my letter . I do not know who will be taking my place, I do wish them well & do hope the ET still goes ahead.

Medication To Treat Dog Aggression?
murve replied to littlesev's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Hankdog have you looked into the side affects of PROZAC Side Effects However, Prozac is not the answer for all dogs. Some dogs' symptoms worsen on medication as they become more anxious or aggressive. Other side effects include lethargy, panting, hyperactivity, shaking, restlessness, excessive vocalization, temporary lack of appetite and gastrointestinal upset. In rare cases, it may cause seizures. If keeping your dog on Prozac for an extended period of time, have liver enzymes checked annually, as with most long-term medications. Prozac can have negative effects if used in conjunction with other drugs, such as diazepam, phenylbutazone, digoxin or busiprone. Something I Noticed When I Was In The Usa
murve replied to HugUrPup's topic in General Dog Discussion
I thought Europe was more dog friendly than both the US and the UK. Most restaurants we went to in Spain and France outside the major cities had resident dogs come and visit us while we were eating, but dogs are not supposed to be in food preparation areas in the UK. Impeccably well behaved dogs. It is more than where they are allowed to go, though. The attitude is very different. I saw lots of exceptionally well groomed dogs in Barcelona that were at their ideal weight and most were entire. Nordic countries might be very dog friendly, but it's kind of socially unacceptable to have a dog if you work full time. What's more, animal ownership is highly legislated at least in Sweden AFAIK. People here complain about the nanny states, well, you might not like Sweden... For example: http://www.thelocal....6/#.UPvEvKFet9k I don't think you are allowed to crate dogs, and I have heard that you can be fined if you don't walk your dog. We have been to Sweden (spent 5 weeks there) & have a few friends there that have dogs, my god they are better behaved that our kids today, but yes the laws there are a bit tougher. Our friends compete with their dogs in different sports, ( the ones we met were not show dogs) :D -

Sweden is the same, very very doggy friendly even in cafe's & restaurants :D , in fact most of Europe is doggy friendly, they even have water bowls ready for your furkifds when you arrive & sit down :D -
+ 1 Roova   We are reg with our state body & our council approved a 5 dog permit on a small house block, all because of being a member of the state body & participating in the disciplines offered. We have 2 dogs with ET's & those same two have RN tittles & a CCD tittle, our younger guys haven't started yet to compete, we also show occasionally :)

Pauline Scott's Gr Ch Basilika O Rei Pele :) He also won Open in Show! big congrates to Pauline & her darling boy
-
do you know who the Pap was that got BIG
-
I know, concerns me too. I don't think they realise what they are in for with her as she gets older and bigger. She'll be losing her puppy licence with other dogs too which worries me because she doesn't back down to warning signs from other dogs and can be very in your face. mmmmm warning bells ringing here now you mention the sibe they have now is a "IN YOUR FACE" type, if they were to get another dog I would suggest another Sibe, the reason I say another Sibe is they know their own & how far they can push the boundaries. They would also look at the opposite sex tooo mixing two dominate type breeds can spell TROUBLE

Hi E&H the breaks between legs are::: 8km's then 1st break-- 15min, 6km's then 2nd break 20min, 6km's then 3rd is the finish line
-
yes Sibes are very independent dogs, In ref to your friend wanting to do Protection/Security work they better take a couple of steps back & take a MAJOR LOOK into the Legislation & Public Liability Insurance of working with dogs, due to the fact you also need to have a special License. I know this as I was a Security Guard & worked with Rotties till the Legislation was changed in the early 90's. The Public Liability Insurance shot through the Roof & it was not worth it any more.

we have one bitch that stands 4 days in & the other 10 days in yes a bit of a pain, but thats life for you :) I would keep a very close eye on your bitch if you think she might get out. we crate our bitches when in season, when we go out to make sure they don't get the idea of going for a walk on their own.
