  2. Thank you Ptolomy for the clarifying that :D, I now understand it why CCD's are excluded, I was getting a little confused as I was told yes we do go back & then no we are not needed. I did email the Sec of the dog sec of the Royal, her reply was just CCD dog are not needed for Best in Trial, no explanation to why. So thank you again for the Clarification :D
  3. This might sound silly & I might be having a a bit of a gripe here, I just found out that the CCD dog winner is Not required to return he next day for BEST in TRIAL at the Melb Royal I have looked at the Dog Shedule & it dose state ( I did a copy/paste) BEST IN TRIAL Judging of Best Exhibit in Obedience Trial will be held on Saturday 1 October 2011. All Obedience Class winners to return on that day for presentations and judging of Best in Trial. I think if CCD Dog winners is not required they should Stipulate it shouldnt they ????? :(
  4. I think there was about 6-8 again, there as well, dont quote me on it but it dose give you an idea :D Thanks! I'm getting a little nervous too! Don't know how I'll sleep the night before. I never sleep well when I know I've got to get up early. I just keep lying there waiting for the alarm to go off! Have a whiskey Oh yea you reminded me to pack the Nurofin, I end up with a headache by lunchtime :D

  6. I can relate to the sleep problem, I went through that when we did 4 days at the Royal back in 09 I must have been an idiot

  8. one of my mentors was at the Royal on Sat, she bought her cat to club training, so we could see how many were entered , if you are doing CCD i think there was about 6 bitches entered, but you just dont know till the day if all will be there :D
  9. Good luck for the weekend :D, yes it is true, whatever happens, happens and we know that we have put in the work, done the training and we do take the best dog home on the day! I just hope we are not on tooo early Orlando dose not do mornings to good, this is the order of judging UDX, UD, CCD, CD, CDX. I did find out there is only 3 dogs doing CCD including us, 1 other CCD dog entered we beat the other week at a trial. The other good thing 2 of my mentors will be there competing in other classes :D :D My O/H is making me a crate that will fit in my wagon, he has shaped the ends ( back seat & tailgate being on angles) to make use of all the floor space
  10. Yes SLLH nerves are funny, my OH says "dont worry you got nothing to loose, you got CCD Title now, just go & have fun at the Royal"
  11. will see what I can find out, I am at home today

  13. Why oh Why are the nerves/butterfies going crazy , we have Obedience trial at the Melb Royal on Friday & I am aready getting the gitters. I know I dont need a pass for CCD cause we just got the title so why am I so nreves about this trial where as the others I havent been.
  14. That would be great Ceilidh, I will be a there on Friday for the Obedience trials & maybe back on Sat depends on how we go :D I was at the Royal back in 09 & parked at Flemington without a hiccup, the Epsom Rd gates opened at 7am, we just parked on the side of the road with other Exhibiters :D
  15. oh my god my Whippet is tooooooo much of a , was with the co owner today, she asked me to do a little CD work with him, that was fine he did well, then we did a recall (mind you I had no intentions of doing the finishof recall yet) the little buggar came in, sat for a second then decided to do the finish without giving me a chance to do any other command ggggrrrrrrrrrrrr I have been given a tip of how fix his antisipation of doing the finish of reca ll, we tried it twice now it has worked already for now, but I will not do any more Recalls with him till after The Melb Royal
  16. got my Embrioded stuff back tonight quicker than I expected , now just have to add the gold fringes, then put them on the backdrop
  17. I have a silly question has anybody done Obedience trials at the Melb Royal, if so, if you win your class, do the presentations (dogs) at the end of that day Do you have to go back the next day when the bitches are on, with your dog for more presentations??? I ask this cause I have been told yes I have to & then by someone else no I dont
  18. X2 make that x3 oh have fun to the newbies
  19. Yea just got our backdrop & cushion done :D, now have to wait for our embrioded ribbons to be done, should have them back by Wed or thurs morning the latest :D our backdrop is Black, embroidery is done in gold, I think it will make a fawn dog stand out
  20. Dogs are allowed on trains, as long as they crated my daughter has done it, she also had to buy a ticket
  21. Thanks Tassie for the tips :D we have opted to do Change of Position while in Novice, we cannot get Orlando to fetch the dumbbell yet, at this stage we have got him to hold it for about 2sec's the time is slowly increasing On the subject of finish how do you teach the dog to "Flip"
  22. Are you training this with the recall or separately? I have always been told to train it as a separate exercise so that the dog doesn't anticipate it every time you do a recall, as you still need them to sit in front before being told to finish. I'm sure you're doing this I'm working on out of sight stays at the moment. Using going in for a takeaway coffee as the time limit :D. She's staying in position 90% of the time, which I'm happy with as we're doing it informally at the moment. She will always stay where she's told, but 10% of the time I find she drops on a sit stay. Hi Nik yes I am training separate to actual Recall at the moment, I will bring the recall in when I know Orlando has got the finish down pat. :D We do the occasional out of sight at home, Orlando is getting good at it even though this exercise is not done till Open class :D my hiccup will be retrieve dumbbell (flat & over jump ) I suppose I shouldnt be to concerned about that till after we get CD title.
  23. We practiced return to heel after a recall this morning, poor Orlando was not sure what was going at 1st, but after doing it a couple of times he slowly picked up what to do :D the method I used is with the lead around my back & step backwards with right foot, to guide him around, telling him "heel" at the same time using my right hand to signal heel :D I am happy he is it picking it up
  24. Whoa Hoa CD training tonight went great, have to teach Orlando to heel when we do the Recall, tidy up his about turns a bit more, cause he goes a little wide, other than that all is great :D How is everybody else going????
