  2. Last Christmas OH gave our dogs some ham as a treat. One dog was totally fine but the other one spent boxing day at the emergency vet - he had a very bad reaction: vomiting, diarrhoea, his face swelled up and he broke out in a nasty rash. They will not be getting ham this year, that is for sure!!!
  3. Hi there, My 5 month old foster pup, Ellie has started eating rocks. She'll sniff around, pick one she like, crunch it up and swallow it. Does one one have any idea about this - surely it can't be good to eat rocks Thanks in advance
  4. Hi there, I had a foster dog that kept chewing all the dog beds and after trying everything - it was suggested to try a product called "McNasty" I found that it was very effective and stop all chewing. Good luck
  5. One of my boxers ate some ham on Boxing day, last year. He had a very bad reaction and had to go to the vet. He was a very sick boy!! This year he will NOT be aloud anywhere near the ham or the kitchen!!! Wow their are alot of dogs with allergies.

  7. Hi again, I think the bang of the door and the feel was what my dog main worry. In regards to security, I don't think my dogs would let anyone in there dog anyway. Our dog door is only medium sized so I thought no one would get in it but last week boyfriend locked himself out of the house. Guy from across the road came over and had no problem fitting in the dog door at all, though his problem was then getting the whole way out with 2 boxers on the other side of the door That is something you may need to keep in mind. When my guys are asleep and not likely to use it sometime i just shut the door.
  8. Hi pinnacle dts, I have the girl on my left side and the boy on the right. Both in close to me. The only time she does this is when out walking, I have no problems with her at all inside the house or walking alone. She does get excited walking alone but not to the same extent. This has only started within a couple of months. Hi Onslowsmum, I do get them to sit but I will take your advice and practice this some more. The times I have tired it where went other people were walking with dogs and the owner took it that I wanted to meet and greet. Which ended up totally insane!!! Thankyou
  9. Hi there, Just after some advice. I have 2 dogs, both walk nice on the lead for me, when it is one at a time. But because it is hot in the afternoon I have been trying to walk them together in the morning before walk. My problem is that if anything exciting is near us (people, dogs, bikes, anything really) The female jumps into the male and kind of gets him in a head lock and starts wrestling him roughly and will sometimes growl. It is really hard to get them apart and I get jumped all over being in the middle of them. I have tried different collars, using really short leads, swaping which side of me they are on and verbal correction. I even approached a trainer about this and it was suggested i just not walk them together to solve the problem. So I guess I'm hoping someone can offer another suggestion please????
  10. Hi there, Had the same problem with one of my girls. We left the flap out until she was happy going in and out. Then put the flap back about one week later. What is the flap made of? The flap ours had was hard plastic (which i think was half the problem) We got some thick soft plastic which we cut to fit into the hole. Also cut it into strips. This worked really well with our girl. No problems after about a week or so. Good luck
  11. No problems I was watching the dog whisper and he recommend a small dog be walked that much, so then I was thinking maybe I wasn't giving my dogs enough excerise Thanks
  12. The girl is 2 1/2 years and the boy is 18months.
  13. Hi everyone, I am just wondering how much exercise people would recommend for boxers/or medium sized dogs? My 2 are walked twice a day, in the morning for about 50 minuts to an hour and then at night for around 45 minutes. How long do other people walk their dogs for??? Thanks
  14. Hi deelee2, This use to worry me too. My two dog play really rough sometimes as well, but one will usally let the other know if they are being to much, and I guess that this is very natural play for dogs anyway. If mine are being really silly I will put them into a sit, till they calm down abit and then their play will usally calm down abit. Not sure if this is any help but I wouldn't stress to much
  15. Hi Both my pups did this to start with.(4 months and 11 months) Sometimes I would get up 2 or 3 times a night. Over the space of about 4 weeks the space between each toilet trip got further and further apart. Now they go to bed at about 10 pm and don't go out till I get up at 6:30am. I think its just one of those things that takes time to work out, Goodluck
  16. Thankyou to everyone who replied I will be looking into all of the suggestions and hopfully find one that will help my dog. With Resue remedy and vitimin B12 (if using this) what amount would you give??
  17. Hi, I'm interested in finding out more about natural therapies and vitimins etc. Not sure where to look, could someone point me in the right direction? please ;) Also if anyone has any suggestions for highly strung dogs I would to hear them. I read that lavender can have a calming effect. Does anyone use this and if so how??
  18. Hi, I have the same problem with my 7 week old boxer puppy, His breath STINKS!!! It isn't all the time, sometimes he makes a sucking noise with his tongue and then you smell "the smell". The breeder we got him from said that it is just puppy breath and will go away. I would like to try the yogurt but have been told that you shouldn't give young puppies diary. Will this upset his tummy??
