Kirislin I've found that you can try bait, squeaky toys etc but in the end they are just being lil snots. I tell my pups to stand in a firm voice and the moment they are still I prise them, even if its just for a second or two. They all squirm like crazy at first but if you are firm they will eventually give in and stand still. Iggies are notorious for being precious about stuff like this. I'm never rough, but I'm firm. Get the breeder to show you how to do it if you can't get her to cooperate. Try if after she's had a big run and is tired. She will give in more quickly when she's not full of beans. With my pups I,practise stacking em every night. I also practise gaitimg them very day for a few mins. Eta a towel prolly won't work, try a rubber door mat on the table. The mat won't move when she squirms.

I advertise on my website after I've decided which pup/s I'm keeping. I thn advertise the others for sale - so when pups are 8 weeks old. However I get a constant flow if enquiries year round. I often advise ppl who ave enquired that I am expecting a litter. I will send these ppl weekly puppy pics of the litter but they are aware that no pups are considered available until 8 weeks of age. I don't have a waiting list as such because this implies first in best dressed. I select homes that I think best suit each pup, whether they enquired a year ago or a week ago. Until pups are on the ground and you know colours/ sexes I don't think there's much point advertising. I have always found I have far more ppl wanting pups than I have pups avail. So I don't feel any need to advertise until I know exactly what's going to be avail.

My. Trickey trailer has been great and has stood up well to the harsh climate and road conditions out this way. I've hit a roo with the trailer and it just bent the wheel arch thingy a bit didn't do any other damage. I was going about 90k at the time so it was a good hard hit it took. It all Depends on your budget really.

I would guess she isn't coping being an only dog. She's probably never lived with a doggie pack. I would be trying to let her socialist with other small dogs - particularly other IGs. Did she live In kennels at the breeders? She may not be used to the sights and sounds of a busy hone - tv, vacuum dishwasher etc. it may all very very foreign and scary to her. I have 6 iggies here, 3 of which were raised in kennels and came here as adults. It took them all some time to adjust. Luckily I have other IGs so the transition was easier for them. However one of them, after more than 2 yrs still rarely cones to me and doesn't like being picked up. I don't know that he will ever change. He broke his leg at 12 weeks of age and had to be crated for 6 weeks. Unfortunately this meant he missed out on critical socialization. He is now 4 yrs old and I don't think he will change. Your girl may never improve much from where she is now. Speak to the breeder and get an idea of how she lived before she came to live with you.

How Often Do You Run Your Dogs Off Leash?
indigirl replied to silentchild's topic in General Dog Discussion
As often as I can. I take my 4 non-Iggy breed dogs out to the creek bed so they can run free. Two days ago my boxer and bullmastiff cross had a wonderful time chasing emus for kilometers out there. It's just such great exercise for them. -
How Long Have You Had To Wait For A First Season?

I don't get the whole dog park attraction. Train your dog to have a good recall and walk it on an oval., a beach whatever. Why would anyone want to evn go to a dog park? I don't get it. If you have a breed where recall is impossible to teach then find a secluded fenced area or go to the dog park at night. To me dog parks are an accident waiting to happen and if another dog attacked one of mine on leaf iI'd kick the shit out of the attacking dog .. Just saying :)

I have has quite a few of these. They arefantastic but I've had 2 or 3 destroyed by very determined dogs. They are the toughest beds I've yet discovered tho. Cheapest place to buy them by a mile is eBay

Mine start going outside at 5 weeks of age into a puppy yard, and I have a toy sized breed. When they are outside is when I clean up the mess indoors. Everyone who has a litter inside is knee deep in puppy poo I think it's unavoidable. Your large litter size means lotsa poos. I find summer litters difficult due to the heat out here. It gets so hot that pups are stuck indoors quite a bit. Much prefer to have litters at other times of year.

Could Be Interesting Or Helpful?
indigirl replied to animal ark 22's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
I set up iggy rescue with another DOL'et about 3.5 yrs ago. The costs were huge at first as everything came out if our pockets. As we were unknown virtually all dogs cane from pounds so we had lots if kenneling fees for 2 weeks quarantine, so around $140 per dog Then vet costs - desex, heartworm test, vacc usually .- say $250 - $300 per dog, plus most needed a dental so add another $200 - $300. Of course some dogs didnt require a dental and done times dogs were already desexed. But above vista applied to majority of dogs. So well over $500 per dog. Then add worming, food, collar etc. Costs were insane. Nowadays vast majority if out dogs are surrendered directly to us, so no kenneling fees. Some even come desexed and vaccd! But we now have much higher transport vista as we fly dogs to foster care. I think we own. 4 or 5 PP40 crates now that we have purchased to fly dogs around in. Iggy rescue is mostly self sufficient with one digs adoption fee paying for the next dogs vetwork and so on. We still have done dogs that need a lot if extra care and cost loads more then normal. However it's generally self funding. However it's taken close to 4 yrs to get to this point and I shudder to think how much myself and Jane have invested financially. We are just a small rescue with a low volume iof dogs. We also have huge numbers if ppl wanting our dogs which is a real bonus.
