  1. I have Italian greyhounds who are notoriously extremely difficult to housetrain. I litter train all mine, when they are pups they are confined when inside ( unless I'm playing with them etc) to a crate with just enough space to sleep at one end if the crate and there's a pee pad at the other end. They learn fast if they pee where they sleep it's a long damp night. Once they are consistently going on the peepad I give them a larger crate, with a bit of space between the bed and pre pad. Once that's mastered they get an X pen with bed and pee pad up the other end. Doesn't take long before they can be in a room and will go straight to pee pad which by now is in a large plastic tub with a doorway. Mine will all go on newspaper too, as I alternate between pee pads and newspaper.
  2. Dog showing is expensive. You will find that you Suddenly need a trolley.. Crates.. Grooming equipment ... The list goes on. I bought a dog trailer when I only had one show dog. Then fuel and accommodation are the killers. Entry fees are ok with just one dog. Then there's the gazebo, I hought initially I would need much space for just myself and one dog .. Right lol. Like any hobby it costs a lot of money. Most of us would use almost all our annual eave attending dog shows and so on. Good luck but dont expect the costs to stay within your budget :)
  3. SLF i have everything crossed for you and your girl. Hoping and praying you have live healthy babies!
  4. Monteba my 2nd litter was 4m and 1f. :)
  5. Congrats Chloegirl. I own a boxer myself, wonderful breed!
  6. It's hard when your heart wants another dog but your head knows it's not the right time. I'd personally love a saluki but I know I would struggle to provide enough exercise for one. Kudos to you for thinking it through :)
  7. that's what you say, what you do is up to you. What do you mean that's what I say.? It's a fact. This is a breed that is a high risk for leg fractures. I refuse to put my pups at an even greater risk of leg breaks. To me that's unethical and immoral. I want my pups healthy and safe. I am very very careful where I place my pups especially the girls, but I always worry. I recommend all my puppy buyers desex by 12 months of age.
  8. It's for a deerhound but will pass the info on, thanks :)
  9. Thanks for all the ideas :) really helpful
  10. Wazzat unfortunately desexing iggies as pups is not a good idea. Without the hormones their growth plates take longer to close resulting in longer thinner legd more prone to leg breaks. It's a bummer as sending out entire girls makes me anxious every time!
  11. The tyre kickers are really starting to annoy me. I get a steady flow of email enquiries for pups but lately it seems that they are getting worse. With quite a few ppl I'm exchanging 3 or 3 emails and I'm not giving 2 sentence responses, I'm answering properly and at length. Then they ask how much are my puppies, I tell them and them that's the end if the correspondence but I've wasted god knows how much time replying to these ppl. How do others get around this? Do you have puppy prices in huge big letters across your website?
  12. So sorry to hear this fingers crossed she is ok
  13. Can anyone recommend a good sighthound vet in above area ?
  14. Bush fires are just so horrific
  15. I know since ccrates changed hands things aren't as good as they used to be. Has anyone ordered anything from them recently? I really want a small ccrate pen, I have 2 other ccrate ps which are fabulous and keen for another.
  16. Nyx free whelped 5 healthy pups today. It was a long labour but she was a champion and got thru it. Freaking out at a total of 10 puppies lol .. I thought I would have 7 max between them.
  17. Litter of iggies whelped overnight. 3f 2m. All pups strong and healthy. Fingers crossed it goes smoothly for 2nd litter.
  18. I won't place a baby pup into a home as an only dog where everyone works full time either. My pups my choice. I believe it's an unsuitable environment for a baby iggy pup. Oh course if they have something in place like a relative who will mind the pup while they are at work, then I'm open to discussing it.
  19. Boxers are fantastic with kids but they have a deep bark that makes ppl wary. They are companion guard dogs who make fabulous family pets.
