Free Emergency Stickers - Pet Needs Rescue In The House
indigirl replied to Linda K's topic in General Dog Discussion
Wow, I must be in the minority, and please don't me, but I would like someone to risk their life to save my pets. God forbid it actually happened, and maybe I'm just selfish, but my dogs are almost as important to me as my family. So would I. Firemen know when they can take calculated risks and when it is just too unsafe to attempt a rescue. -
Bet the son wishes he had been nicer to his old mum now LOL Good on her for leavign the money to her pets!

Women Injured And Animals Killed In Overnight Fires (caboolture Qld)

Jed you looked and sounded great in that interview. You came across as someone who was at peace with the decision you made to rescue your dogs. Pretty bloody impressive if you ask me! I was shattered when i lost one dog in tragic circumstances, to lose five at once .. I cant even get my head around it. All I can say with certainty is that in time it wont hurt as sharply as it does now. Eventually it will subside to an ache that is bearable, that wont take your breath away. Then gradually to a soft ache and a moment of sadness when you think about them. I pray you have a good night tonight and wake refreshed in the morning. -
I have 4 cats roaming around my house with my dogs.My 2 LaPerm cats get along great with the dogs, and will play with them, cuddle up and sleep with them, and try to steal their dinner. The 2 bengals are wary of the dogs but there have been no dramas. LaPerms makes a fantastic pets

Does Your Dog/pup Have A Specific Object
indigirl replied to Dust Angel's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yeah, my lawn grrr -
You need a stat dec signed by a JP stating the dogs barking is a nuicance etc and all other methods of redicign the dogs barking have already bent tried and failed. Then you can get your dog debarked. I live on the SA/NSW border and thats how ppl here get thier dogs debarked. a letter froma JP and they hop over the border and get the Op done by a SA vet.

What Are Some Good Dog Breeding Sources?
indigirl replied to Sasha (Alexander)'s topic in Breeders Community
Thank you for the haste reply. You make a good point about first showing the dog, to get to know breeders and what's expected. So is your dog 4 years old and having it's first litter now? Also i read somewhere on this forum that some people do hip tests , and eye sight before breeding. Is that a requirement for all breeds? Yup she was AI's last year but no pups. Every breed needs different tests done. Golden retrievers need hips/elbows, heart and eyes. Plus i got thyroid done as well. Depends on what diseases are known in your breed that you need to test for. Generally speaking the more popular the dog breed the greater the number of health issues. -
OMG 20 puppies! I dont think i could cope lol beautiful pups!

What Are Some Good Dog Breeding Sources?
indigirl replied to Sasha (Alexander)'s topic in Breeders Community
I think most of us start with jsut the one dog. I only got into showing approx 4 yrs ago so I still have a LOT to learn. Basically I bought the best bitch I could find in my chosen breed. I went back to the breeder that my family had purchased a pet golden from yrs before, and had always stayed in contact with - the dog lived to 15 so it was a long association. I contacted the breeder by email and told her of my desire to get into showing and maybe eventually breeding. This breeder had been breeding for 35yrs+ so i knew she knew a LOT about the breed plus she is an all breeds judge. I then had to wait until a suitable bitch was available. I waited for around a year from memory. Once you have a bitch you dont need to own a male to breed, you can pay a stud fee and use another breeder's dog. Once you start showing you get to know other breeders. It doesnt take long for others to know who you are and whose dog you are showing. I would suggest you buy a dog and get into showing, learn all you can and once you have spent a few years in the ring and have gotten to know a few ppl in your breed, maybe then consider breeding. Ive spent 4 yrs learning the ropes and am hoping to have my first litter this year. I still feel very 'green' and will be relying on other breeders with wayy more experience than I have, to help me with the entire affair! The hardest dog for you to buy will be your first main reg dog. After that once ppl know you it will be easier to acquire another dog. In terms of learning ir ead everything I could find but I mostly listened and asked questions of experienced breeders. They are your best resource. -

sweet dreams Jed -
Just wanted to say I sympathise, I also have horrible intolerant dog hating neighbours. I think the Ranger must have gotten sick of thier complaints as he hasnt been around to see me in over a year now. My neighbours complained my dogs barked 'all night', yet my dogs sleep inside every night. They complained if they barked at all. They told the Ranger they didnt want to hear even one 'woof' in 24hrs. They used to bang on the fence to stir the dogs up and then yell at them when they barked. Things got nasty between myself and them for a while, they threatened to 'get rid of' my dogs and things got ugly. Police were called ete etc. I tried to get an AVO but couldnt as they had only threatened my 'property' not me ...soo i told the police if they harmed my dogs i would burn their house down, after all that was just 'property'. That was when Police finally took me seriously, and they ended up having a chat with the evil neighbours and things settled down somewhat. They still hate my dogs, and its like a silent war now. They sometimes throw rocks over the fence at my dogs. But ive stated VERY loudly that the next rock i find in my yard i will be throwing back at their house, and i havent had a rock in about 2 weeks. Im paranoid every time my dogs make a sound, but i refuse to let these parasites drive me out of my home. I am a responsible dog owner and my dogs do not bark excessively. The biggest frustration for me was the lack of assistance from the police. It wasnt until I started making counter threats that they finally took action. Good luck with your horrid neighbours

hey Jed, you're famous Good to see you looking so well. You are an inspiration to us all. I know I like to think I would go into a burning building to save my dogs, its an easy thing to say but the reality is almost impossible to do. I don't think I would have the guts to go back in 4 times though. Wishing you a speedy recovery to full health. -

YAY! Welcome back JED! may you go from strength to strength -
No. Mine go to the vet if when they are sick, not when they are well. They have 3rd yearly vaccs, except puppies who have 2 or 3 puppy vacs plus another vacc 12 months later.
