My iggy sultan has had several seizures. His first seizure, about a year ago he screamed so badly i thought he must have broken his leg, it was terrifying hearing him scream like that. He had his 2nd seizure only a week ago. Second time around he didnt scream he just collapsed and started shaking and twitching. Iggies can have epilepsy in their lines. The fact Boomer pooed himself suggests it was a seizure to me. If it was a seizure he would have been very quiet and not quite himself for the rest of the day maybe even the following day. Sultan was also very unsteady on his feet immediately afterwards both times. I thought he was dying the first time, and i panicked. Now I know what it is I cope with it a lot better. Maybe contact Boomer's breeder and ask if there's any epilepsy in her lines?

Blood On The Floor But None Of The Dogs Are Injured?
indigirl replied to indigirl's topic in General Dog Discussion
ewww maybe.. thats gross but possible. Do mice bleed in bit fat globs tho lol .. and now ive freaked out everyone in my office asking if we have leeches LOL ETA Consensus is theres no leeches here BUT I was in Albury/Wagga last weekend, maybe the dogs bought one back with them?? ugh ugh So if theres blood on the floor does that mean Mr leech is dead or should ie xpect to find him bloodsucking somewhere else soon? -
Blood On The Floor But None Of The Dogs Are Injured?
indigirl replied to indigirl's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hope all is OK. I must admit, I was visualising "huge" as being like a puddle. Being that size, there is less chance of it being vomit, which is a good sign. Do you have any entire bitches? yeah i have 3 - that was the first thing i checked! None are due in and unless they dropped one glob of blood and shut up shop it isnt from the girls being in season lol At the risk of sounding gross the girls have always dripped blood, this wasnt a drip it was a thick glob. I live in Broken Hill and it rained all yesterday.. wonder if it was a leech? Not sure we even get them out here though, will ask around -

Thanks for your ideas. Will check each dog with a fine tooth comb. When i said huge, i may have overstated as i was shocked to find it. The glob was approx the size of my thumb nail but it was thick, as in 3D. It wasnt just a smear. I would say it was as thick as two 50cent coins. Very strange as no other blood anywhere. I also freaked as some of my dogs are iggies and that much blood would mean a decent size hole in a toy sized dog! -
Ooh pls tell us more about this bedding! ETA Trampoline beds should help with the arthritis, it will keep him off the cold ground.

Maybe some foxes have learned to be long-distance swimmers. Cant imagine how one would get over from the mainland otherwise. Cant see anyone willingly bringing one!

I have a multidog household, and have for years The current alpha dogs are two bitches, one desexed one entire. Even though the desexed bitch does all the posturing and carrying on, i suspect its the laid back entire bitch who is actually the 'real' boss. Its only when shes in season and marky that the two have a tiff. Each time the entire bitch wins, hence my guess that she is the real alpha dog. The dogs sort out thier own heirarchy, ive never interfered. However I will follow thioer heirarchy in that I feed the dogs in the order of their status - alpha bitch first etc. As dogs are pack animals they seem to need to have a clear leader.

Aggressive Behaviour Between My 2 Females Dogs
indigirl replied to JADED81's topic in General Dog Discussion
My guess is that the fight occured becuase your bulldog is maturing, bitch fights are the worst. They can and will maim/kill each other at times. Im guessing your staffyx viewed the bulldog as a threat to her alpha bitch status? Hopefully someone with experience in living in multibitch households of bull breeds can advise you on how to reduce the liklihood of aggression between your dogs. Good luck with it, I know first hand how devastating it can be watching two dogs you love fight. ETA an enclosure may be the answer that will givbe you peace of mind, you could alternate which dog is in the enclosure every day so you dont feel that one dog is being 'punished' -

Women Injured And Animals Killed In Overnight Fires (caboolture Qld)

Oh Jed, when i lost Ripley so tragically after I i had waited so long for him, my world just stopped. The grief was hard to put into words. It crushed me for a time. I spent months soul searching, avoiding the dog world as I worked my way through the grief. So I have an inkling of what you are going through, though your grief is compounded as you lost so many all at once - I only lost one. All I can say with certainity is that it WILL get easier. Not a day goes by when I dont think of you and all that you lost. You are far far braver than I am. My thoughts ab prayers are with you daily. Hang in there Jed xxx
