Do You Think It Is Cruel /neglectful
indigirl replied to Baileys mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
I believe most dogs need more than the same suburban backyard day in and day out. However if i take my 2 male IGs for a walk they give me long suffering looks and lag at the end of the lead until we turn and head back home lol. I think this is partly due to there being no fenced dog parks here and being sight hounds they cant be let off lead, so a walk to them seems pretty pointless. These guys are truly happiest just running around the backyard. The bigger dogs need to get out regularly or they drive me nuts with unspent energy! I don't know how anyone can stand to live with larger dogs who are never taken out of their yard. -
I use a Dremel, cordless rechargable one so that when I get to a show and havent done their nails I can do them whilst waiting for our turn in the ring. My dogs tolerate it because they dont have a choice, none of them enjoy it though.

Best Super Premium Food For Toy Sized Dogs?

I would've thought if the shop had RC cat they'd have RC dog, or maybe could order it in? I use RC above anything else, but mostly raw feed. Not for small dogs, but puppies and very active young adults. One of the best IMO. I jsut went and checked (its the vet) but they only have the special RC diets, same with the cat food but as I use the S/O Cat food they stock it. Im sure he could order the RC in for me. -
Best Super Premium Food For Toy Sized Dogs?

Hiyas, I am wanting ppls opinion on the best super premium food for my Iggies. Due to where I live the only foods I can access locally are Advance, Hills Science, Euk and I think Iams, I know there is RC cat food not sure about RC dog food. My larger dogs do fantastic on Bonnie working dog and raw bones, but my igglets I struggle to keep the weight on. So im thinking a super premium where they dont have to eat as much may be the go. Are any of these worth the $$? or am i better off paying the extra for the postage and buying Nutro, Artemis etc? I ams till happy to give the IGs raw bones for thier teeth several times a week, but a complete food would be great. -
Ok I will be in it

Kirislin I feed all my dogs separately, they are all crated for mealtimes except Wally the elderly sheltie, but as the others are all crated he is separate from them. I dont let anyone out until they have all finished and i remove the feed bowls first. It means there's never any fights over food. Having large dogs plus toy sized dogs makes me extra cautious that there is never a fight at mealtimes.

The pup moved one of its front feet, and for some reason that seemed to trigger the Judge into manhandling it.

She looked like she was trying to turn the pup inside out? Unbelievable. The poor puppy

Best Breed For Your Average First Time Dog Owner
indigirl replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
Goldens are great dogs but arent easy as puppies. They can be very destructive and willful. They can dig like you woudlnt believe and if bored can cause massive destruction to their surroundings. -
I have these and they are fabulous - but my golden can dig thru and shred the covers.
-
They live in the dirt as far as I know. We get bush ticks here after it rains as they come to the surface.

Ive always allowed my tennants to have pets - even after one tenannts cats managed to infest the yard with fleas grrr lol.

Just Came Back From The Vet And Terribly Sad
indigirl replied to Moselle's topic in General Dog Discussion
Saying goodbye to your heart dog is so very hard. Even more so as it was so unexpected. Try to remember the last thing Sophie knew was her mums arms around her and your voice in her ear. She left knowing she was loved. Another beautiful golden is now waiting at the bridge with my Ripley. We WILL see them again RIP Sophie :D Thinking of you Moselle xxx -
I have italian greyhounds and when I walk take them out in public I get swamped with ppl. Its the most bizzaire thing. Most ppl think they are 'baby whippets' but more ppl are starting to identify them correctly. Everyone (especially children) wants to touch them which can get quite overwhelming for the dogs. I get asked a heap of questions about the breed. I thought it was just because ppl in Broken Hill (where I live) dont get out much LOL but recently the same thing happened when I had them at the Entrance on the central coast. My friends all initially had an 'eww what strange dogs they are too skinny' type of reaction, but those same friends now love my iggies and one is soon to have an iggy of her own. I think the breed grows on ppl once they get used to how they look. I left one of my iggies with a friend when i went on holidays and when i returned she offered to keep him lol. My golden is often identified by ppl as a 'long haired lab' I just tell them they are close, as both breeds are gundogs but she is a golden retriever.
