  1. Sorry Teebs, so glad it was you who found him so he had tlc and a warm bed for his final days here. RIP Tip
  2. I bought a 2nd hand twin tub and wash all the dogs bedding in that
  3. Hi, i havent entered the Adelaide Royal online before and im a tad confused. Its $20 to enter a dog - do you get admission to the showground included for that or do you also have to purchase an admission separately? I havent been for the last couple of years and i cant remember how it worked before. Also do you pre-purchase parkling tickets or jsut roll up and pay on the way in to the carpark?
  4. This is something im currently working on, trying to organise the rediculous amount of dog stuff i own. All their walking collars/leads are on cool little ikea hooks (in shape of dogs tail and bum) in the house, its all the other collars, leads, and stuff that is the issue. I have a toy basket for inside and another one outside full of toys. Also a set of wire drawer thingies plus another set of drawers for spare bedding. A set of plastic drawers on wheels for all the iggy jumpers for winter, plus another set of plastic drawers for spare leads, collars, the cool coats, spare grooming stuff and other doggie junk. Also have the grooming stuff i use in a grooming bag. I have a small wooden chest/box thing for all animal medication and medical supplies. Any crates, x-pens, c-crates etc im not using are stored in the garage. Show stuff like gazebo, chairs etc is either under my bed or in the dog trailer. All whelping boxes and equipment are stored in the garage. Spare kennels and crate mats are also stored in the garage. All dog food is stored in large containers in the house or in the big freezer. My problem is what do you do with all the excess stuff? Dont really want to throw it away. I have multiple check chains of every size imaginable, spare leads, spare collars, dog harnesses for the car in every size available plus several Hushers and various other stuff.. what do i do with this stuff I dont use?? Does everyone else jsut throw this stuff out? If i had the money I would build another room onto the house and put ALL my dog stuff in there.
  5. Sounds like the dog is in mortal pain or fear.. charming sound lol. Iggies are very quirky and the scream is just one of their quirks.
  6. How awful for you and your family RIP Odie & Jazz I had a terrible fight break out about 3 or 4 months ago between 2 of my dogs that had been best friends for more than 5 yrs. Had I not been there one of my dogs would have died that day. It was a nightmare. Sometimes dogs just do this for reasons us humans cannot understand. There may have been warning signs that were so subtle you didnt notice them.
  7. This my new italian greyhound pup Dali, who arrived on the plane yesterday. He is 12 weeks old and very outgoing and confident for an iggy. He has fit in really well with my existing iggies, and has been very easy to have around. He has the iggy scream down pat, and has screamed a few times when he hasnt got his own way. The breeder warned me he was a screamer tho. I have another iggy who screams too so Im used to it.
  8. When my iggy pup was slightly starting to knuckle over I switch to Advance small breed adult food as it has a low protein content, fixed the problem very fast Pups now 5 months old with lovely straight legs.
  9. I have to say i dont think my golden is super intelligent. Shes not a complete moron but she is no rocket scientist
  10. Now you just need the puppies to go with them! Puppies arrived on friday! I'm just deciding whether to use the full length of the collar or cut them down to a smaller size to fit better on their tiny necks without wrapping around 2 or 3 times. I'm currently doing shorter ones for small breeds and kittens. They will fit necks 5-20cm and be 5mm wide. Ooh how much are they? they arent listed on your website?
  11. So good they are back together again Pox on the owner who surrenderd 2 elderly dogs tho
  12. My golden bitch was mated 4.5 weeks ago and I took her in for an ultrasound today. Vet saw several things that 'could be' sacs but wouldnt say for sure. Hes told me to come back in 2 weeks for another ultrasound. I asked him whats his gut feeling, and he says he thinks shes not pregnant. Ugh. Have many ppl had ultrasounds not show any pups at 4.5 weeks but he bitch has gone on to have a litter? My bitch is having a phantom if she is not in whelp, she has def changed bodywise and temperament wise.
  13. I have a Nyx - who is the goddess of the night.
  14. I should also add I run my dogs in 2 packs, in separate yards. A toy dog pack and the larger dog pack. This somehow makes it feel more manageable, and like there are less dogs than there actually are. Often one pack is indoors with me while the other pack is outside etc. I exercise the large dogs seperately to the toy dogs too. I think this is one reason why I am able to mange so many dogs.
  15. I currently have 8 dogs, 5 of a toy breed and 3 larger dogs. I think my personal limit is 4 large dogs and 6 or 7 toy dogs atm, as all of my dogs are young and energetic. My oldest dog is currently 6yrs old. In yrs to come when some of the dogs are old and quiet I could probably manage a few extra. For me the limit is about how many dogs i can provide enough exercise for, and give enough individual attention to. I know i dont have the time needed for too many large dogs, but the toy breed are easy to manage, almost zero grooming and dont take up a lot of space. As all my dogs live in the house and not in kennels space is an issue I have to consider. 5 of the dogs are breeding/show dogs and the other 3 are pets. My friends think im a crazy dog woman but they accept it as thats just who I am. Oh I also have cats. 4 indoor cats plus another kitten in the not too distant future. Plus a turtle that lives indoors in a turtle tank Happy mayhem is how I would describe the house most days. I live in a rural town on a normal sized block. I deal with feeding time by using crates. Crates keep me sane! Every dog is crated during feeding, and none are let out until all the food bowls have been collected. Bones are also given while crated. Means I do a lot of washing of dog bedding, but also means no fights over food.
  16. No Wally loved the pups until they were about 8 weeks old and they got too boisterous for him lol. Prior to that he took every opportunity he could to spend time with them LOL Once you have loved an iggy there's no going back....
  17. They are prone to broken legs from about 4-12months of age. This is because they think they are mountain goats and they LOVE to climb, they also think they can fly and will happily launch themselves into the air from the highest point they can climb to. Hence their tendency to break their legs. Once they mature they are more robust and can easily jump 3 or 4 ft down without injury. So its something to be aware of when acquiring a IG pup, you need to ensure the area they are in is climb proof. Care also has to be taken that they are not sat on or trodden on by bigger dogs or children. They tend to burrow under cushions, pillows etc so you can imagine how they could be hurt. Apart from that they are robust little dogs who are exremely nimble and quick and who love a good romp in a fenced area. Like most sighthounds they cannot be trusted off lead in an unfenced area. They are very catlike in that they like to climb to the highest point they can, and they like to sunbake. They also tend to be aloof with strangers much like cats are. They are very eccentric unique quirky little dogs, they are unlike any other dog I have owned. Iggies really are a breed apart Wally with the pups aged 6 weeks
  18. They are definately not the breed for everyone. But those of us that are enthusiasts of the breed are very devoted to them My iggies have several blankets in the backyard they drag around into the sun everyday. As the sun moves so do the blankets, they are very much creatures of comfort lol.
