RIP Cindy. I know how hard it is to lose a dog so suddenly. You will know when its the right time to get another dog, we all grieve differently. Cindy sounds like she was so well loved all her life though She will have good company at the bridge while she waits to see you again Thinking of you xxx

What about an iggy Rysup? small hairless cute eccentric lol

Hiya, you will find it much easier to acquire a main reg dog than a main reg bitch as a newbie.

I would refund the deposit, simply because it makes everything very certain. If you keep the deposit and in 2 weeks time she says shes changed her mind and wants the puppy again what then? If you refund the deposit you are in no way obligated to sell her a pup. ETA I dont like deposits personally. I dont want to feel obligated to sell anyone a puppy, a lot can change in 6-8 weeks. I prefer to have the purchase price paid in full just before the pup is ready to go.

Do Breeders Like To Hear From Their Sold Puppies?

Yes yes yes and yes -
Theres a breeder in Broken Hill who often has chocolate cocker spaniel pups for sale. Her prefix is Zoack and I believe she has a litter due soon.

Design A Logo For The Identa-pup Id Collars For Whelping Supplies
indigirl replied to SwaY's topic in General Dog Discussion
Just wanted to say I bought these collars for a friend who had a boxer litter recently, they are fantastic and soo practical! -
1. Pick puppy up 2. Take puppy to your car 3. Place puppy inside car 4. Drive away Puppies will do what puppies do. You could rub a towel over the mother and siblings and put that in puppy's bed so they can sleep with it, thats about all i do. If you have purchased your pup from a reg breeder the pup will hopefully be socialised enough that it wont freak out at being removed from its siblings etc.

Would love to see the job description for that one.. picking up dog poo to have it dna tested mmmm they would be flooded with applicants NOT

Great to hear that the berner ppl are onto these 2 dogs. I do breed specific rescue which does not mean i think other dogs are less worthy, it jsut means i have chosen to focus on my specific breed. I think its a rather narrow view to consider any breed specific rescue as belitting the worth of other dogs in need. I choose to do breed specific rescue because i know my breed, I am able to rehome this breed to the right sorts of homes, we have a great network of breed enthusiasts who will assist me, plus I really feel for my breed when they are in pounds etc as they simply do not cope due to thier temperament. I see breed specific rescue as a great rescource for all breeds rescues, as they can hand these dogs over to us without having to worry about them - leaving them more room and resources to rescue the remaining dogs.

Well that explains why im broke

RIP Cordelia. I remember reading about her on your website before i knew rescue existed.

No its a special breeding program with special permission by the powers that be, the resulting dogs cany be shown until they are 5 generations from the original outcross or something. Its a very deliberate and longg process, and its not undertaken lightly. The issue though is whether a boxer that has a corgi in its pedigree 5 generations ago is really still a purebred boxer. I do not breed boxers so I dont really have an opinion, but although i much prefer the look of a boxer with a docked tail, if I wanted a boxer I would want a boxer that only had purebred boxers behind it.
-
Didnt breeds like boxers etc get the bob tail gene by outcrossing with corgis? "Natural" bob tails just means the dogs were born that way and not docked. Doesnt mean its natural in the breed, it may have been deliberatly bred in.

Wow hard to believe its the same dog! Well done

Poor dog looks like a black seal. It must be so uncomfortable.

A friend (agaisnt my advice) bred her 5.5yr old maiden boxer bitch. While both dogs are purebred and papered this is an unreg litter as my friend is not a reg breeder. However whats done is done and now Im concered about the bitch. After a very long and difficult labour the bitch eventually had a c-section on Sunday, and they have 7 healthy pups. The concern is that the bitch is extremely thin. I am unable to be there in person as they live on the NSW central coast. The vet expressed concern about the bitch looking very underweight, and now the bitch wont eat anything they have tried to offer her. They have tried stimulating her appetitie with nutrigel, offering her puppy miljk with raw eggs, raw beef and chicken, dog food - she wont eat anything. Does anyone have any suggestions what they can feed her that may get her eating? According to the vet she doesnt have an infection she jsut has a low appetite. The obvious concern is that if they cant get the bitch to eat then the pups will prolly not be getting enough milk. This bitch has historically always been ahrd to keep weight on, she jsut doesnt have a large appetite and tends to look thin. Its been more than 48 hrs since the c-sectiona nd I would have expected the bitch to take food by now. She is feeding and tending to the pups fine and mum and bubs appear settled and content.

Im thinking its going to take thousands if not milluons of years to get to that point. I dont plan to be around then. Also I live In Broken Hill so even if the sea enroaches a bit im wayyyy safe out here lol.

I also have a 50kg wolfie cross and a kelpie cross, as well as my golden and 6 iggies. It works because I have the backyard fenced into 2 separate yards, big dogs on one side and the iggies on the other. They all get along but there is too much chance of accidental injury to ever leave the iggies unsupervised with the bigger dogs.

I obtained my 2nd breed after I lost a pup of my heart breed in a tragic accident(see the pup in my sig). I wasnt ready to face going back into Group 3 but I wanted to get back into the ring. I had always said that when i was too old to run a golden around the ring I would switch to italian greyhounds, so an iggy was a natural choice for me a 2nd breed as they had long fascinated me.

The wait for a show quality bitch may be a lot longer than you think - even if youhave a breeder willing to sell you one. Breeders will almsot always keep the best bitch in the litter themselves, hence why it is not as easy to obtain a main reg bitch as it is a main reg male. Also breeders will need to know who you are usually before they will sell a show quality bitch to you. My first show quality bitch was from a breeder my family had a long assocation with as we had a pet dog from her for many many years and had always kept in touch. I showed that bitch for 3 yrs and got myself known. When I decided I wanted to buy a bitch of a different breed it was surprisingly easy to source one, but had I not been out in the ring showing my first girl regularly this would not have been the case. Breeders want to know that you are comitted to the breed and to the purebred dog world before allowing you to have a main reg bitch. If you are serious about breeding then get your male into the ring, take him to obedience and get known by ppl in both areas. Saying dog shows are bitchy is a given lol. However if you are serious about your intentions why does a little bitching on the sidelines bother you so much? you dont have to get involved in that. I stay out of the ring politics and I get along with pretty much everybody. I find dog shows relaxing and entertaining and have made some great friends through it.
