  1. Taken yesterday, the iggy pack plus my boxer pup Karma my golden with Fluke the boxer Nyx and Venus, mother and daughter Karma with Archie the cat Karma and Chilli the kelpie x
  2. OMG thats SERIOUS amount of dogs lol yeah but the IGs move around as one, as a pack. Plus they are only little so doesnt seem like theres THAT many of them. The 6 iggies together are less work than my golden retriever lol. Thanks for your kind words about Ripley.
  3. I have 6 italian greyhounds, a golden retriever, a wolfie X, a kelpie X and a 4 month old boxer.
  4. I have been fearful of GSD's my whole life after being surrounded by a pack of them and nipped at 4years of age. Luckily that fear didnt translate to a fear of all dogs, jsut of GSDs. I was also bitten by a friend's relatives GSD a few years ago. I had specifically asked that the dog be outside as I explained Iw as fearful of the breed. One of the ppl living there let the dog inside, I swear it smelled my fear as it instantly jumped up on em and gave me a warning bite. Loads of bruising but no skin broken. I have seen some stunning GSD's at shows and while I can appreciate how beautiful they are I sill wont pat one. I am also wary of cattle dogs and bullterriers, and will always ask an owner of they are friendly before I will appraoch anywhere near the dog. Again due to negative experiences with both breeds, though i have to say Ive also met some wonderful bullies
  5. Was open pyo thank god. She is recovering slowly, will eat meat if i handfeed her but otherwise not interested in food. She is wagging her tail when I talk to her again now, plus coming to me looking for affection. She even went and laid in the mud today She is on AB's and ive no doubt she is very very sore. I think shes finally stopped leaking muck too. Thanks for all your support.
  6. Back from vet, surgery went well. Very stoned dog next to me
  7. Been to vets it is pyo. Spey and IV antibiotics in 90 mins when vet shuts for the day.
  8. No i called the vet he said bring her in tomorrow morning. I wil jsut monitor her thru the night. I lost my kitten a few days ago so I think the vet may think im overly concerned about my other animals now, as I was very distressed over my kitten.
  9. No normal temp, but have read not all bitches with pyo present with fevers
  10. My almost 6 year old golden bitch came into season approx 4 weeks ago. Everything seemed fine and she seemed to go thru a normal heat cycle. However approx a week ago she started bleeding heavier, bright red blood, dripping from her. She has had split seasons in the past so I assumed that was what had happened. Tonight she refused food. Shes hunched up like her belly hurts. She has no fever but bright red discharge. Gums nice pink colour. Belly feels very firm, too firm. Phoned the vet he said start her on antibiotics and bring her in tomorrow morning. I am FREAKING she may have pyo. Does her presentation fit with pyo?
  11. Ahh yes one of my work colleagues told me she was going to 'breed purebred maltese terriers'. I told her there was no such breed and did she mean maltese? Yep she has had the breed before and knew a good breeder where she could get one. Fast forward a few months, the 'purebred maltese' only cost her $200 and its the 'special miniature sort'. I explained there are no miniatures and suggested maybe her dog was crossed with something smaller. No no its a purebred maltese she says. The dog now lives in the garage 24/7 as 'it wont toilet train itself', and shes hoping to breed with it as soon as it comes on heat. I am wasting my breath trying to talk sense to her so i dont even try. Poor bloody dog Oh this is the same person whose 'stupid cat kept having kittens' and she was complaining the local rspca dont like her as she is always surrendering litters of kittens.
  12. A young golden retriever with only 30mins of exercise a day may get very destructive. They are an active breed who need exercise and stimulation. Curlies are quieter than goldens but also need a decent amount of exercise. Depends if the OP wants a pup or is open to a young adult dog. An adult of either breed may be a good match. ETA Its italian greyhounds that are fragile and suffer leg breaks, the toy sized ones.
  13. Thanks so much for that! Konrad is an italain greyhound not a regular grey so i imagine that mixture would go further than a few days lol.
  14. He apparently had his most recent bout of pancreatitis back in March? Kirty we are extemely grateful for the funds believe me! As you know first hand IGs often need expensive vetwork prior to being rehomed. Pesky lil buggers they are Konrad is with a new foster carer who doesnt seem keen on providing a special cooked diet like rice and boiled chicken etc for him. We have nowhere else for him to go at present so he will remain with her for the short term. Iggy rescue has been very busy the past month or so and we are very short on carers. I am thinking more longer term about an appropriate diet that would work for him, even using the Hills Science kibble still but adding to it. Konrad will likely end up here with me at some point in time, once i reduce the number of fosters I have. My iggy pack is young and he would fit in well here. Roo meat is cheap and plentiful out this way so was thinking it may be a good option. twodoggies some excellent food ideas there thanks!
  15. Iggy rescue has jsut had an IG who is very emaciated come into care. We need to get some condition on this boy asap but to complicate matters he also has pancreatitis so must have a diet of less than 7% fat. His foster carer has been given Hills Science Gastro plus Hills Science low fat canned. This is ok short term but rescue funds cannot stretch to keep him on this diet indefnately. Anyone have any other suggestions on appropriate foods for this boy? His owner had been feeding him tinned Chum!! Gawd. Would roo meat be low enough in fat does anyone know? Konrad
  16. These ppl make leather number holders in many different colours http://www.lupavaro.com/sito_english/collars/dog_show.php They are in Europe I think but you could contact them and enquire about shipping to Aus.
  17. I know what you mean. My big old boy Spud (rotti x) seemed to age overnight. He made it to 13 and was PTS because i didnt wnat to subject the old guy to further surgery on his leg, he had a tumor that had already been removed once and grew back. I had him PTS when I saw the tumor starting to rupture. His only option was to have his leg amputated and I felt that at his age and with the 'good' leg having had cruciate surgery in the past, it just wasnt feasible.
  18. Me tooo .. i just happened to get them earlier than planned due to life circumstances. But they were always going to be my old lady dogs lol
  19. I just arrived home this week after driving to Sydney and collecting Fluke my boxer pup. Spent 2 weeks in Sydney with him. He is my first ever boxer, and he is a lovely settled pup. Hes now 11 weeks old.

  21. Italian greyhounds sell from between $900 - $1200, and im told some breeders charge up to $1500 for blue pups! My last litter was sold for $900 each, inc several 'rare blue' pups lol. My next litter I will prolly sell for $1000 inc desexing. Golden retrievers generally cost between $1000 - $1200.
