  1. Part of the problem with living in a koala area is that you can't have much fencing, they have all sorts of rules about fencing preventing the koalas going through the 'koalas corridors' . I would hazard a guess this has contributed to the No dogs allowed rule. Makes me laugh to think of pol moving there cos they don't like dogs, amd presumably dogs barking. You guys ever heard how much noise a koala makes? LOL and they are nocturnal. Methinks some of those ppl are in for a nasty surprise.
  2. "Having Spider suckle on my boob means I finally feel complete and a better mother," Lost for words here. The woman needs therapy LOTS of therapy .. And drugs. Gawd.
  3. There are more and more Italian greyhounds appearing in pounds. They usually fall into 2 categories, the byb IG where the owners had no idea about the breed and found it too high maintenance, and the purebred from reg breeder IGs who were sold to homes that were unsuitable for them. Some reg breeders will sell a pup to anyone who has the cash unfortunately and these breeders do not properly screen the homes. We had one young byb IG surrendered to us recently because she was " too affectionate" the owner wanted the dog to sleep in a basket at his feet while he watched tv, but this dog wanted to snuggle next to him.
  4. Eclipse is the best name ever...just sayin' :D Oh wow! LOVE eclipse..
  5. No dogs n my bed, but up to 4 cats. Little ratbags curl,up tight against me so I can't move lol
  6. Can you crate the child while you are in the ring? :)
  7. Word of warning, two pups here got into a large potted plant. They dug out and ate the putting mix ad the fertilizer we'd put in the potting mix. Bth dogs nearly died, thousands of dollars later and weeks of stress both pups survived. Fertilizer has so any nasties in it I'd never even considered my potted plants as a death tarp for my dogs! So with a dog that likes to eat dirt please make sure there aren't any pot plants he can get into.
  8. I name all my pups witha litter theme. The reg name is chosen by me, the call name is chosen by the owner. Sometimes I offer the owners a choice of reg name, but it has to be in line with the theme for the litter. This way I will know instantly which litter the pup is form. My last litter had a storm/rain theme as they were born when my town was in flood. So the pups names were Flash Flood, Summer Rain, Rain Dancer and Cloud of Raindrops ( all obviously have my prefix on them before the reg names I've given them. I generally chose call names that are associated with their reg names for the dogs I keep/own. So the last pup I bought in was i named Artwork in motion (his breeder was hapy to let me choose his reg name) due to his coloring - he looked like someone had painted perfect circles on him when he was tiny. His pet name is Dali - after the artist Salvadore Dali. I'm currently considering a theme for the litter I'm hoping is cooking as I type this heh. Thinking I might have a moon theme as the bitch's call name is Luna.
  9. Wayrod is brilliant. He has flown I don't know how many Iggies for us, often going above and beyond what's expected to make it happen. Im not at all surprised he was able and willing to step in and help. He leaves the other animal transport companies dead in the water, his service is just so much better. I recommend him to everyone :)
  10. Love the pics Kirislin! I find livestock guardian breeds fascinating :)
  11. Good idea. Contact breed rescues about dogs/pups you see on gumtree you are concerned about. We have a number of ppl that watch all the gumtree and trading post ads for us and alert us if there is an iggy for sale or FTGH.
  12. Great :) I referred a potential adopter to them this week
  13. Screamed at? I got a bit of a shock but I didn't scream at you??
  14. Indigirl if you are going to Mildura show I will introduce you to someone that has a lot of experience with doing an assisted mating. I haven't needed to do one myself luckily. But this person has done it quite a lot. That would have been fantastic but unfortunately I have to go to Sydney that weekend
  15. Was trying t mate 2 of my IGS today and Capri kept missing the bullseye. So I leaned down to help guide him in and the little darling squirted me in the eye with his dog jizz!! OMG!!! Gross.. Disgustingl, and it stung! Who'd have thought he could squirt so far?? Would have been at least 2ft. Thank god my mouth wasn't open or it could have been even worse I guess.. Ugh.
  16. I have 6 IGs plus cats and larger breed dogs. My house is hectic, but the IGs are all happy and full of beans. At home they ooze confidence but away from home some are quite timid while others are outgoing. They are beautiful dogs but are not the right breed for everyone. Generally they adore their owners but are aloof with other ppl. Love the pics Kirislin.
  17. You have to remember too that a reason many show ppl downsize dogs as they get older is because you have to run them in the show ring. The larger the dog the faster you have to run. As you get older running fast gets harder. Pretty much everyone I know who has downsized breeds had done it because they found running the larger dog in the ring was just getting to be too much for them.
  18. Iggy rescue has had a female whippet surrendered to us. Unfortunately as this girl is not safe with cats we have no foster Carer for her. She is 2 yrs old, great with kids and loves playing ball. She is located in Sudney and requires good fencing and a doggy companion to spend her time with if her Carer works all day. Breeze is an active happy girl who is attractively marked and has all her vet work done. If anyone is able to offer a foster placement for this girl we would be eternally grateful.
  19. LOL it's a rental, they have an acreage too where they spend the weekends.
  20. I dontt have kids buti think taking on a bully pup when you are expecting your first bub is taking a gamble. If you have a lovely settled baby it would be ok, but if you have a unsettled baby it could be hell. It's a risk. There's always going to be other pups.
  21. Think they are thinking a smaller dog than a who Pet this time. Thanks for the breed suggestions :)
