So how was the ACWA AGM? Given the weather and the pretty colours over Canning Vale way on the BOM radar I stayed at home and worked a horse instead (wasn't raining at home) Emery, spend some time trying to work out what motivates your girl It will be worth it. Luckily all of mine now are fairly food motivated LOL.

Buzz is a real cutey I missed out on Whippy cuddles Congratulations for your win So what is the weather doing people? Looking at BOM the rain is moving weirdly it is nearly circling

What Breed Has The Strongest Prey Drive?
mirawee replied to corvus's topic in General Dog Discussion
Definitely not a Lappy I agree with one of the terrier breeds... it is really interesting watching how long a JR can be obsessed with trying to get a mouse! -
That isn't always possible. And is so much more expensive to book them direct! One of our puppy buyers booked direct through AAE and was given a quote better than Dogtainers or Jetpets so they went direct ... I dropped the pup off and was charged nearly double (you don't pay beforehand) as they had miscalculated the size crate the puppy would require for the trip even though they were given the correct weight for the puppy! Needless to say none of us were impressed and I would never go direct through AAE for unaccompanied flights again.

Was amusing as there were 4 dogs that Qed (combined height trial) Kyzer and Jenna had both gone clear so we are standing there and AP was sure that Jenna had beaten Kyzer and we were sure Kyzer had beaten Jenna. Well Jenna won by less than half a second So very close between the two, neither of who did their best possible effort ETA: Up to Masters any breed of dog can win as it is a challenge to go clear LOL... at Masters level I don't expect any of my dogs will be in the placings unless everyone else bombs!
-
You did need to win your height for an agility rosette. Jenna got second and didn't get anything. Made up for it this week by getting a rosette and trophy though. Slowest first place she has ever won ;) And next time there is a fundraising trial for obedience tell us and I am sure between us DOLers we could cover 4 rosettes ;)

Woohoo Very well done!

JetPets for me too The only time I had a dog travel with Dogtainers the pup missed the connecting flight so had to stay overnight (in the Dogtainer kennels). Then I was abused for organising flights too close together when I rang to find out what was going on! Um, I didn't book the flights - they did! That was a trip to Perth too... ETA: Dogtainers has also been more expensive everytime I have gotten a quote from them.

ST, agility is always on the bottom oval except for the States
-
You can run it but most people figure biking is a lot easier I am one of those who plans on doing it next year OzJen did it last year though if you want to send her a PM :D

My kelpie isn't infatuated with the water hose but he loves attacking the air blast from the dryer! Makes it interesting when I am trying to dry him off LOL

Older dogs are definitely heartbreaking at times. A few years ago one of our old Shelties was doing very poorly, struggling to move, so we took her to the vet where she remained overnight for testing. We picked her up the next day with the vet telling us it was time to let her go, but we wanted her to have one last night at home rather than her last night being at the vet. The next day she was a different dog! So needless to say she didn't go back to the vet. However at that stage we made the decision that the next time she stopped eating and was in pain we would say goodbye - no more tests no more poking and prodding just a gentle helping hand to go to sleep. She lasted another 6 months... So we don't give up on our animals if they are willing to fight, but we do not keep them with us if they are ready to go. And my remaining dogs don't let me grieve for long - Varda and Banjo think that if I am crying in bed they need to come and lick up my tears
-
(((hugs))) vCBR. Unfortunately it is something we all have to face at some time. I live by the creed with my animals "better a day to early than a day too late" and most let you know when they are ready to go. I am always grateful that we can give our 4 legged family a dignified and peaceful end rather than having to watch them suffer like our 2 legged family

Sun was up when I was feeding the ponies (6.30-7am) and there was still ice... in fact Miss Raven decided that it is the "in thing" to have ice adorning her forelock ST, yes Group 5 is definitely on the Sunday. I will be there Sunday for Group 5 judging, Monday for agility, Wednesday to show my own horse and Friday to show a friends horse .
-
vCBR, I hope Lily is better soon This freezing weather probably isn't helping - did you have ice at your place this morning? WX, bugger about no puppies Maybe it is a rare breed thing in WA All three Lappy breeders didn't have success the first mating but two of us did the second so hopefully you will be the same (the other one only tried last season for the first time) ST, if I am around I am happy to be a pretend judge for you

Well done to Zoe's River I am glad the Staffy is back with his owner And I WANT A PUPPY! All the puppies everywhere are killing me atm
-
I have recently gone through this with two of my dogs and it is never easy. Although for us I know that the boy we have chosen to rehome will be so much better off with his new family as he will get a lot more time and attention than he did here. And I can safely say not having the stress of keeping an eye out for fights, or keeping dogs seperate, is also a massive relief. Another option is to have the person come and meet him and discuss things with them. Tell them up front you are not yet decided. We also insisted on a trial before a final deciison was made.

Ferranti :p

Oh and I have heard about a litter of Lab puppies now too Want me to tease you with photos of them in a few weeks?
-
This thread is not helping :p Too many cute puppy photos people! I met three Stopped at J's on the way home and met her new Sheltie baby and played a game of tug with her LOL
-
I am very puppy clucky atm Particularly as so many people I know have new puppies! A few of us from the WA thread have decided we need to start a Puppy Clucky support group
-
Agility was good as we got lots of Stauss cuddles I really don't think Ptolomy could have gotten better if she tried - spunky boy with oh so brilliant a personality In terms of the trial both Abbey and Jenna decided that they had never been taught how to weave (think we might need to start training straight entries again!) but both went clear in Jumping Unfortunately Abbey's clear in Masters doesn't count at this stage as the Scribe didn't put a time in making her Q and NQ Hopefully that will change once the judge can be contacted What made it even sadder was 4 dogs who either DQed or NQed got called out as qualifiers! ETA: The service at BP&G in Midland is great - pity their prices are so high! I get dry food so much cheaper at a Stockfeeder even after the DogsWest discount!
-
RS, I will make sure to save you some Hopefully Oogy is found soon, it is always scary when entire Staffies go missing
-
Bottom oval We only use the top oval for State Champs
-
RS, start time is 9am and I have one run first up as does vCBR, all the rest of our runs are in the second section so after 10am probably LOL. So sleep in and come down whenever, but I would guess we will be finished well before lunch!
