Go Buzz Seems like it was a successful weekend for us DOLers Tiggy, those photos make me jealous - wish I was outside enjoying the sun ;)
-
Intermediate Show Hunter Galloway of the Year Bit of a mouthful There were several different classes on today - I didn't notice a bay purebred arab though. Oh and rug is a nice wool show rug
-
Yay, go Lincoln And go Millie Moo too since I know her news And my brag is that Diva won her first rug today Not that she really deserved it as she went from Angel Diva outside the ring to PMT Diva inside
-
SR has been around for a while, although I don't know exactly how long since it isn't something that actually affects me HOY was today and tomorrow. I didn't go today as Diva didn't work well yesterday (went and watched and ended up helping prep and warm up a friend's horse though ) However since she was fairly good when I rode today I will do Intermediate HOY tomorrow... particularly since there are only 4 horses in her section :D

Forgot to say - AI definitely does stand for Artificial Insemination Interesting on an Associate dog! Sporting Register is for dogs registered in a working registry. Not sure if it is only WDA dogs or others as well. Because Associate Register dogs now need to be sterilised, registered working dogs obviously couldn't go into the AR if they were going to be bred! Plus it means that they get a prefix on their name not just a single word name :D

vCBR, so sorry to hear about Lilly Big to you. Bedazzled, how many times has Brookie been top Obedience dog now? He is a legend definitely * Tiggy, I live in Upper Woop Woop (pretty sure I am further out than Bedazzled LOL) and I got mine the same day the metro people did! RubyStar, maybe they know somethinig you don't
-
Ooh, where did you get the book from? And if Diva is anything like she was today when I ride her tomorrow I will definitely get to sleep in on Saturday! One of the worst rides I have ever had on her
-
There are always less shows after the Royal... although there should be at least 4 in Nov/Dec and possibly a couple in Oct so you should be able to get to 6
-
i wondered that Bedazzled's Brookie? he was on the cover a couple of months ago Who does it say it is inside?
-
Um, have you been on trains recently? I mean you have people sleeping, kids being feral, teenagers playing music way too loud... reading a dog mag is nothing And hey, at my work I have a toy alpaca on my desk! And another guy has about 10 jars of different lollies ;) So we are a pretty accepting bunch
-
Why would it have gotten interesting looks on the train? I have read mine on the train/bus, plus other dog mags, plus horse mags, plus books... When you have 2 hours on public transport every work day you find things to read
-
Oh no! I am so very sorry to hear that the puppies didn't make it Puppy preschool is one of those hard things. You want to socialise your pup well but at the same time negative experiences at that age have such a big effect on the rest of their lives.
-
You have prizes :p In WA we get a rosette or sash if we get first in agility in a split height trial (unless it is one of the numerous fundraising trials where we don't get anything unless someone donates it). Combined height trials you get a rosette to third and often a trophy for first. Obedience trials are usually rosettes to third and a trophy for first. A nice rosette and $5 would do me Means I can go choose something for my dog since the rosette means nothing to them

Don't even want to think of that since we lost her Mum last year And she will hold her own, just not win which makes me wonder if it is worth all the time and effort. And well, this show just doesn't mean that much to me. I should really stop entering her in Show horse stuff and get more serious jumping her. LOL I am more excited that I am thinking of doing a beginner campdrafting clinic with her the last Sat of the Royal than competing at the Royal!
-
Yes, show is for Diva. But she isn't really at a level yet that she will be competitive, particularly with the lack of recent work. AP, will cost me about the same in entries to prep her and drive down each day (well nearly) - then there is all the time involved too! Horse showing isn't cheap LOL (I could have paid another $100 if I wanted to do all the classes she was eligible for!) Actually, I wouldn't be suprised if my mare decides to foal early Sat morning which would stuff it all up for me too! Although I want her to foal ASAP as she isn't happy

Anyone got any quick tips on how to get motivated? Have a big horse show coming up this weekend and horse has barely been ridden She was ridden Monday, lunged yesterday then I couldn't get up the energy to do anything today. In fact I really can't be bothered going to the show at all but since it is one of the biggest shows on the calendar it was pre-entry so I am currently tossing up whether to forfeit the $100 plus I have paid :p And I am not that much more motivated about getting her to the Royal...

Has your puppy been born yet? When choosing a puppy preschool the first question to ask is how they socialise puppies during a session. If they let all dogs off lead at the same time then avoid them like the plague (PUPI classes do that ) A lot of dogs have ended up fear agressive due to puppy preschools doing that - and not allowing owners to intervene when the pups get stroppy with each other ("they need to sort it out for themselve" ) Good puppy preschools will let dogs of like sizes off together in the first week, then as the weeks go will let other the dogs interact in controlled situations with all the puppies, allowing for individual issues ie if there is a very timid dog it wouldn't be let off lead with a full on puppy who would frighten it. Puppy preschool is not just for the puppies to play together. Dogs also need to learn that even if there is another dog around that doesn't mean they have to play with it.

Or do the job properly if you really want to go home early
-
Lucky you... although it sounds like you have had a fun day
-
Cause you know, you haven't been on here all day I did think of putting up some real work just for the photos but I was on my lunch break (which has now finished...oops) LR, there is a shop run but the women's auxillary at Charlies. I go grap a drink there for lunch and had been looking at her for a while, but when I saw the 20% off sign today I couldn't resist any longer vCBR, Alpaca lives at work as I think he would be way too tempting for my puppies if he was at home! He is real alpaca hide so oh so soft (he also works for his keep at times and has been used by young kids being tested as something to cuddle). My new Kelpie will probably come home at least so I can show my Mum my new dog... I told her on the phone and she thought I had bought a breathing kelpie to begin with
-
Oh, and since I am bored at work (well am currently having lunch LOL) I decided to take some photos now... The alpaca lives on my desk (middle photo shows where he lives usually). My new kelpie decided that she was a real sheepdog
-
If I ever get to training again I will have a play with her ETA: But what is your excuse for not running her yourself? OzJen and J have the excuse that they are broken ROFL
-
NOOOO! Cider is mine for agility I tell you! Oh and I was naughty at lunch today. I saw this cute little red and tan kelpie in the window and it was 20% off so I just had to buy her! Will post photos when I get home tonight
-
How awesome would that have been, I can imagine why... they found out who put the ballot slips wanting NFC banned. Still waiting on my PM or text Amypie :D Aww, so you are telling me I missed cake and a punch up Geez if I had known it would be that exciting I would have made the effort to come Send the PM to me as well as vCBR... I don't want to have to wait until tonight to find out ;)
-
I would take Strauss for you Ptolomy but he is a boy :D How about you send me Cider instead? Oh and as to the meeting I was wondering about costs mainly ;) But any other gossip would be fine too
