Fingers crossed for Sophie, Tiggy! Got my first CleanRun delivery today As well as two other parcels :D Has anyone had a CR delivery that hasn't been through quarantine? I only ordered a book and a fancy harness so wouldn't have thought there was anything in there to get the dogs' attention

Brookie obviously decided to share the wins Well done to them both Good luck vCBR for tomorrow

Sas, my aunt's dog has major immunity issues that started not long after a yearly heartworm injection. My older kelpie has major muscle issues that also started soon after the yearly injection. Now in both cases there is no proof that the injection caused any problems and there is a good chance it had nothing to do with their problems but due to the timing I am not willing to risk any of my dogs further. If any of them do have a reaction they also have to put up with the chemicals in their system for a minimum of 12 months as apposed to monthly/daily treatments which are in their system for such a lot less time.

I have not had a problem at either Perth or Brisbane Royals in terms of security - the only 2 Royals I have competed at. Saying that we have a group of people so the dogs are never left unattended (in fact it is in the show entry info that they are not allowed to be!). When we are all out for judging of our main breed my "odd dog out" (Kelpie) is taken over to sit with other friends. Actually his first year he ended up at the Pedigree tent being looked after by them while our other breed was judged after they offered to take him I don't want to know how many treats he got while in there :D One of the main reasons we do the Royal is to promote our breeds to the public. Our dogs all love the attention and in fact our oldest Lappy would be quite happy if he sat on the table all day getting pats and didn't have to go into the show ring. He was most disappointed in Brisbane that it was harder to get pats from any kids walking by. At Perth Royal though we get a minimum of 2 tickets even if we only have 1 dog entered.

Sue is a lovely lady She helped us quite a bit when we first entered the ring with our Shelties and was welcoming when we came back to showing after a nearly 10 year break! -
Yay Brookie Go the West Aussie Superdogs vCBR have a great time in Adelaide :D Hello
-
Absolutely do not use the yearly injections! As to risk... Perth is actually a fairly low risk area for heartworm. But there still is a risk. Saying that I no longer give my dogs preventatives for it and since I have taken Kinta off monthly tablets and yearly vaccinations she is sounder than she has been for a long time!

Midland BP&G have had a hydrobath for ages I like having my own though with built in dryer So we can all come to your place to use yours after they get to have a swim in your dam? I have a friend bringing her two up for a full wash and blow dry the weekend before the Royal They will also get to have a play in our fully fenced 1 acre paddock (fence is mesh 1.45m high) before their wash as she doesn't let them offlead when out and about as their recalls aren't that good ;)

Happy birthday Dougal Banjo loves plastic bottles too... I take the lid and ring of 600ml bottles then he gets to play with them to his hearts content ETA: GR, I have an e-version of Ian Dunbar's "After getting your puppy". If you PM me your email I will send it to you :p

Is the weather really that bad? We have blue skys in Nedlands and the radar doesn't look that bad? Am leaving work now anyway so if training isn't on will work my pony instead  ETA: Tiggy! Naughty dogs obviously wanted a sleep in
-
The number is the length down the back Ie Banjo needs a 22 coat (he usually takes a 55cm) If you go to the drop down list to choose it makes a bit more sense
-
It's raining? We had blue sky when I went to work this morning Off to go and look at Clean Run

I have been taught to step off with the right foot when you are leaving the dog and step off with the left foot when you are heeling

I love cattle work This will be interesting though as it is a team penning competition. So you have a team of 3 horses/riders and have 2 minutes to cut out three cows wearing the same colour collar (which you are told by the judge when you start) from a mob of about 30 cattle and get them to the other side of the arena and into a little pen This is the start of our new season - and the second for the club :p Our team for this year is called "Bling it on" and we are going a tad overboard with mega bling diamonte browbands, diamonte edging on our saddlecloths, white boots on our ponies etc. I did draw the line at glitter on the ponies though! Oh and one of our team members is a guy Sounds like awesome fun! I have never done any work on horses around cattle, when is your comp, sounds very interesting, I would be keen to watch This comp is on Saturday afternoon at Bakers Hill. Next one is in Bullsbrook 16th October again afternoon, then swaps between Byford and Bullsbrook each month until June when it is back at Bakers Hill for the last event of the season - goes to evening during summer then back to afternoon as it cools off
-
See that one looks more like what I would expect Head looks finer and the dog looks leggier, not so heavy through the barrel

I knew you hadn't entered so thought you would enjoy a sleep in You can watch Abbey and see what a feral beasty she is at those grounds!

I wondered if the heaviness could be due to coat (and not being as fit as your two ) Wonder if the coat makes that much difference on the head. I would love to see photos of show coated Xolos please
-
LabRat, you should come and visit us agility people at Gosnells (Lumen Christi College) on Sat morning ;) Actually, I might be the only agility person from the WA thread there! Hmm, the rest of you lot are deserting me aren't you? Oh well, I have the fun of running away as soon as finished (hopefully by 11am) so I can get up to Bakers Hill to play with cattle on my pony
-
WX, the coated Xolo looks completely different! I need to go find a stacked photo now as the head shape looks different (even discounting the ears) and it looks a lot heavier in build!
-
I hope you both have a great time Good luck to you both - not that you really need the luck with your super boys ;)
