  1. There is a Saint Bernard who competes in agility in WA :D And we have had several Great Danes although I don't think any currently.
  2. Abbey or Jenna? I am assuming we are going Abbey may be best as long as Millie doesn't come over and visit, Jenna is a bit too attracted to other dogs running near her sometimes :D
  3. Well I am home from my conference and still need to catch up on all the gossip. It will be fun though as I now cannot talk! As in even whispering is hard This made it very interesting trying to say goodbye to everyone - they all kept laughing at me :D To top it off I have an agility trial on Saturday night and a horse show on Sunday but I don't need to be able to yell "here" to my horse Maybe you need to be on standby for Saturday ;) Think you could remember a Masters level course? ;) OzJen, you up for Novice agility with Jenna? :D
  4. Long way from us and heading in the wrong direction. I just have to drive past it to get home. I don't think there is a Clipperworld in Perth but there are plenty of other clipper places or places to send blades for sharpening. We bought our grooming table from the dog shop at the Dogswest grounds. They have lots of different heights and sizes although I can't find them listed on their website. http://members.iinet.net.au/~wasps/
  5. This would be a choc tri BC. Not a recognised colour in Australia (is recognised in the rest of the world), but certainly not rare since it WILL be produced when 2 recognised colours are bred together. Unrecognised colours are becoming less & less rare in BC's as so many strive to breed them. Could be a red tri Aussie too. It also looks a lot like my boy, who's a BC x Kelpie :D That was actually my first thought too Head looks more kelpieish than either BC or Aussie.
  6. The other thing that just occurred to me is that this fire is in an area that undergoes regular controlled burns and in fact would have been done in the last 2 years! (Was originally sure it was within the last year but now I am doubting myself ) So the fuel load should not be that high yet it is still difficult to control Although maybe that is why it seems to be moving reasonably slowly.
  7. :D Since it started in the middle of a National Park where there is no access to powerlines or anything else to produce sparks and you are not allowed to light fires for camping purposes it is a pretty good assumption that it is a deliberately lit fire
  8. It is near Red Hill (Pechey Road and Taaffe Road are the ones who have been told to evacuate)... so the National Park area there. Firies were getting set up when we drove past our way to work this morning :D https://internet.fesa.wa.gov.au/alerts/Page...spx?ItemId=1096 vCBR, bugger about reacting to anitbiotics Hope you feel better soon.
  9. Wow, in WA we have to do the lap of honour Takes less time than the stewards having the go off and figure out what extra ribbon the BIG then ruBIG winner needs to get too... Plus everyone then gets a chance to appreciate the winning dogs :D
  10. I ended up retrieving the ball a fair bit until we figured out what distance my friend's dog would go in to get it He wasn't the most confident swimmer so had a point when he would turn around and head to shallower water And my girl who is the water baby isn't a retriever! She would swim out to the ball but not bring it back Have just heard that the dog I am talking about was given his wings yesterday at the age of 17yo RIP Jake He was the dog who got me hooked on agility as Tracey would let me do the Open classes (when Open was what Excellent is now except Masters dogs could compete) with him and she competed him in Masters. We won quite a few rosettes together although mainly for 2nd with just a couple of 1sts :D
  11. After looking in the rare colours thread I might have a change of breed ;) I am in love with the red long haired GSD on there Pity it can't be a show dog :D Tiggy, I love all the Bear photos As for the toys, I hope someone down river manages to get it out It is littering and most lively ends up in the ocean to the detriment of our marine animals (a pet peeve of mine ) Once accidently might be unavoidable but repeated lost toys is a bit wrong When a friend and I used to go play with our dogs in the Swan River I made sure I was wearing clothes that I could jump in and retrieve the toys when the dogs decided they couldn't ETA: I hope no DOLers are near the big fire in Swan View/Jane Brook This is way too early in the year to start getting worried by fires! 130ha of John Forrest National Park has burnt and it is now heading towards houses. Poor wildlife in the Park
  12. I seriously love this dog It is my kind of GSD in build and I love long coats :D And the colour is the icing on the cake for me! I would love a GSD like that A friend of mine has a miniature parti coloured poodle who she does agility with
  13. Foal is doing better this morning and will be going home ;) But he is still not out of the woods yet :D Actually he has the vets a bit confused as his progression (or lack there of) doesn't follow what they have diagnosed his problem as.
  14. My talking babble ball just started talking... then I realised that none of the dogs were anywhere near it! :D Freaked out now
  15. Pea is lovely Will be interesting to hear what first one of your possesions he destroys is. Welcome ;) You won't find many dogs in Perth city as most people live out in the suburbs. And those who do live in Perth live in apartment buildings and would be lucky if they are allowed dogs I am also reasonably sure that dogs aren't allowed in Kings Park because it is a "National Park" which in Australia = no dogs allowed. Hmm, we did need a house sitter towards the end of November, but found someone this weekend! Hopefully you find something ;) I need lots of healing vibes to go to a foal that I bred but is owned by a friend of mine (and she owns the mare and leased the stallion - I just was leasing the mare at time of service...). He was born last night and basically has the equine equivalent to Rhesus factor in humans and so his Mum's colostrum is essentially poisonous to him And because his Mum was very collicy after he was born and wouldn't let him drink he had 400ml of her colostrum tubed directly into his stomach as at that stage it wasn't known :D So poor little man is under strict observation as while he is fairly strong atm he could crash fast
  16. Bugger Emery :p I have heard giving a bitch fenugreek (a herb) helps encourage milk production! I think there are a few on the breeders forum who recommend it so it would be a good place to ask.
  17. My car had extra seats in the back... they have been removed to give me more space for dog and horse stuff :p Oops, meant summer Have changed it up top ;)
  18. The problem with summer is not the daytime temps so much (mid 30s are usual with spikes up to low 40s and very occasional days in the low 30s ) rather it is the fact that it doesn't cool down much overnight (low 20s for night time temps) and you have days on end of heat Emery, it used to be true that WA didn't get the humidity, but over recent years that seems to have changed Apparently though we are going to have a mild wet summer ;) Of course we were also meant to have a wet winter... and a wet spring.... ;)
  19. Do you really think you need to ask? They are cute little slugs at this age aren't they I am glad to hear the remaining pups are doing well ;)
  20. Emery, so sorry to hear about your girl losing more pups Tiggy, not long now! 2pm is nothing When I picked up Banjo he was due in around 7.30pm... but due to an airline stuff up he missed his connecting flight in Sydney and I had to wait until 10am the next day! (Dogtainers weren't willing to put him on the 6am flight the next morning ;) and apparently it was all my fault even though they were the ones who booked the flights with only an hour between)
  21. Probably, after I posted I wondered if Pea was the grumpy one or the sleepy one
  22. He looks so grumpy in this one He is a very handsome man though Congratulations WX May he be as good a child as his parent was
  23. (((hugs))) to Tiggy and RSG RIP Shimi :D to Tiggy too... I hope the day gets a lot better for you! Congratulations Emery May the remaining pups all grow big and healthy! Oh and :D to Brookie for yesterday as well
  24. That is why I asked as I knew you didn't show your two As I said earlier, we have a month to figure things out Awesome. Thanks I might come along and watch too I am not detouring to pick you up as well
  25. That is actually my only argument about horses being used for human food with the debate that is currently raging. I have no problems with other people eating horse meat as long as the horse is humanely slaughtered and I am not expected to eat it. However I am worried about what impact it would have on how we are able to treat our animals medically. What course are you doing? That is why I asked as I knew you didn't show your two As I said earlier, we have a month to figure things out :D
