  1. Thanks guys ;) Vommitting was not induced as it would have been too long since they had eaten it. I have no idea why an injection wasn't given first up, but as I said it wasn't one of my preferred vets at the clinic. I will actually be ringing to check a few things when they open this morning as the dosage will run out 60 hours prior to me being able to get them to the vet for the blood test due to them not being open on a Sunday night for non-emergency. Vet last night said that would be ok, but speaking to a vet friend this morning she said definitely not and to get an extra dose so that it is only just over the 48 hours when they have their bloods done. It was one of the more modern rat baits so by the sounds of it they will need to be on vit K for longer than 2 weeks anyway. I don't know how much they had, Dad seems to think there were 5-8 baits in the bag and they would likely have all had a share. The pest control guy had come and they put some into a plastic bag for Dad to take down to the aquaculture ponds to hide around there. I am a bit peeved as we have had conversations before and I have always said I don't want baits put out as it isn't great for the dogs to eat baited mice/rats but that obviously went in one ear and out the other They even put out baits in the stable where we have just gotten a new kitten to be our replacement mouser (our old cat died about 6 months ago)! Pest control guy will not be allowed to come to my house again when I am not here - not that I knew he was coming on Thursday anyway! They managed to turn the water off to two of my horses as well and since the horses weren't hanging around the water trough they have been without water for over 24 hours on a hot an humid day. I don't check that trough daily as it is a bit out of the way to get too although I think I will have to start now And of course I didn't look closely at the horses last night since I was concerned about the dogs! I also can't give my Dad too big a serve atm though as I need him to hold a foal for another few days so I can inject her - the result getting injured in a thunder storm on Thursday night! If one more thing goes wrong I think I will just crawl into bed and stay there ;)
  2. I had a phone call from my Dad this afternoon saying he had left some rat bait on my table and asking if I could bring it down to his house. Immediately fearing the worst given I have a chronic table surfer (when I am not around!) I checked and yep the dogs had gotten it They could have eaten it at any time in the last 24 hours. So off to the vet. All three dogs currently look fine although I am sure at least two and most likely all three had some of the bait. So they have all been put onto vitamin K tablets but now after doing some research I am not sure the vet has given them a high enough dose. The three dogs range from 14.5kg to 18.5kg and all are on one 50mg tablet once a day for the next two weeks and will then have a blood test done. They did not get any injectible vit K. So is the dosage they are on high enough for their body weight? I have tried to look at previous threads, but no one mentions dosage!
  3. Luckily I don't like dark chocolate so there is never any in my house My three had a great day today though... got home from work and Kinta and Varda were out the front of the house to greet me No Banjo to be seen but a bit further drive around (I have to go all the way around my house to get to the garage :D ) and I see a wide open gate to their fenced area and a black kelpie The obviously had fun - there was a destroyed box of cat food and they were covered with twigs and mud so obviously took themself off for a swim! They are lucky dogs though since we are in sheep country - although I think the only way they would go off our property would be to chase roos into our neighbours wooded area so luckily no stock there for them to harass. Rang my father and turns out he had opened the gate for the pest control guy (dogs were locked in the house at that stage) then remembered he had to open the door to let the dogs out again but forgot that the gate needed to be shut too Oh well. And poor little Mysha cat is feeling a bit sorry for herself - sterilisation, vaccination and microchipping all on her first visit to the vet Although she is actually acting a bit hypo now rather than dopey
  4. CC, I hope Daisy continues to improve I have a serial chocolate eater at home I think I have put it somewhere safe until I find the remains of the packet! Luckily she has never had any ill effects from eating chocolate Is the stuff Daisy got dark chocolate? I have never heard of 85% chocolate
  5. Apparently some insurers consider anything they paid out on in the previous year an "existing condition" and will no longer cover it after you renew So if your dog does something on say day 360 of the policy that requires follow up treatment you better hope that you can get it cleared up in those remaining 5 days! I have too many animals to bother with insurance though as I would be paying more than I would claim
  6. Congratulations ;) She is lovely
  7. Puppy of the Year was what was on on Friday night ;) Dogs qualify by winning baby, minor or puppy in group. They are then judged in two sections - under 12 months at the close of entries (Junior) and over 12 months at COE (Senior). Judging is at group level first and each dog is gone over by 4 judges and awarded points. The dog with the highest points is then awarded Group x Junior/Senior Puppy of the Year. The winners of each group then compete against the other group winners for Junior/Senior Puppy of the Year again with 3-4 judges judging each dog and then the Junior and Senior overall winner compete for WA Puppy of the Year :D I did Junior POY with Banjo just to get a Kelpie in the ring and he shocked me by winning Group 5! In points I think only the Senior group 5 winner (who is now a Grand Ch) beat him :p Feet injuries bleed a lot - I have had a dog cut the pad and you would have thought he had cut his leg off! Luckily they also heal quickly usually.
  8. Step 1 - dogs compete in their appropriate class Step 2 - all dog winners (over 6 months) compete against each other for Dog CC; same with Bitches - then DCC and BCC compete for BOB Step 3 - winners of each class compete against the oppposite sex winner to get Class of Breed (except in the class where BOB/ruBOB come from) Step 4 - BOB winners compete for BIG Step 5 - Class of Breed winners compete for Class in Group (except in the class where BIG/ruBIG are from) Step 6 - BIG winners compete for BIS Step 7 - Class in Group winners compete for Class in show (except in the class where BIS/ruBIS are from) Clear as mud?
  9. Yay go Strauss! Congratulations on the win. And well done for choosing to get it at a show they give ribbons out at too Oh and you do know he is now eligible for Puppy of the Year next year too ;) Forgot to say, hugs and healing vibes to Soggy :p
  10. Brilliant clip Tiggy Although not only does the poor baby have to go to drastic measures to get a comfortable bed but he has to try and resort to extreme measures to feed himself too :D You better be careful or he might report you to the RSPCA He is getting big too!
  11. He has had Bowen recently and was not sore anywhere. Although I guess that doesn't mean he isn't out of alignment.
  12. OzJen, she is in the stable Diva even got kicked out of her stable so we could set her up in the one with more cover She is in the big dog crate and will be for a little while until she is more used to us and knows where to hang around for food Our old mouser was 14 when she had to be PTS due to cancer Our cats get fed twice a day so that they don't disturb birds, but she was obviously still catching mice too as we are constantly seeing mice now and never did before! ETA: Our other cat is 17yo but she lives out the front of my house - which is a fair distance from the stables so she doesn't hunt down there regularly.
  13. Thanks He is my head shaker Although he doesn't do it very often but it is enough that it makes me think something is off.
  14. Meet my newest family member <G> She is 10 weeks old and is meant to be our next Mouser. Her Mum is also a Mouser on a horse property (and has now been sterilised!) No name yet - did consider Fois (F off I'm Scared) but she actually isn't too bad now She is also a very spoilt Mouser, we spent over $200 on stuff for her from BP&G She will stay in the big dog pen in the stable for at least a week and will hopefully be able to be sterilised on Friday
  15. He's ears were looked at while under a GA (as well as nails and anal glands poor boy) so they could get a thorough look. The vet said there didn't seem to be an issue. They didn't flush though or take a sample as far as I am aware. Definitely no other signs of skin issues. It is prime allergy weather here in Perth atm though so that is a possiblilty. And allergies would also fit with him being a bit "off" when there isn't something exciting on offer. It wasn't my usual vet since it was mainly for the xrays. I have an RDO again this Friday so if he doesn't miraculously get better I will get my vet to look closer inspection. And now I know to ask for a flush, check for ear mite and a sample inspection Thanks guys :D
  16. Varda was brilliant Best attention and enthusiasm I have ever gotten from her in a ring :D So she will be entered in the Classic and will hopefully finally make her obedience debut ;) Although she will probably be in a "can't be bothered" mood at the Classic ;) I would have liked to have seen Mason's round. From what I heard it was good though so you should definitely enter if you get your numbers back in time :D Each of my dogs didn't do much either ;) Jenna did a jumping and agility round, Abbey did an agility and tunnellers round and we had a go at Rally-O even though we had no idea what we were doing (and apparently would have passed ), Varda did her CCD round, Kinta had some fun over the jumping course - and actually isn't sore this morning , and Banjo felt very left out that he couldn't do anything Also got photos of all three of mine, although I think I need my head read about why I thought getting a photo of all three together was a good idea Thanks to people helping me with that :thumbsup:LOL. Congratulations Wasn't me though as I have no idea how to nominate anyone
  17. My kelpie has been a bit flat for the last couple of weeks (except when talking to "his" girls at agility training ) He has also been shaking his head at times so I thought he had a grass seed but decided that since he wasn't distressed I would wait until he was getting his xrays done to get the vet to look in his ears as that was already booked for yesterday. Well, long story short, he had nothing in his ears! So what else can cause head shaking? It isn't all the time, probably just a couple of times every couple of hours. I actully didn't see him shake his head at all last night but he woke me up this morning shaking it again
  18. Lots of healing vibes going Lara's way!
  19. So who is going to be at Canine tonight? I will actually have all three of my dogs there... I want to do a CCD round with Varda, want to keep an eye on Banjo after his vet visit today and don't want to leave Kinta home alone LOL. Kinta might have a go at 400 jumping depending on she feels Oh and then having a few play rounds with Abbey and Jenna as well ' I think I will sleep well tonight :D
  20. Thanks Ptolomy. That form is from 2008, I have found a 2005 one too Was hoping someone would have a 2010 form or even 2011
  21. I dropped my boy off to the vet for hip/elbow xrays this morning and vet asked me if I had the form. The last time I took a dog (a year ago, same clinic) the vet had them himself but this time he has run out. I have been trying to ring Wyburn for the last hour with no luck to see if they can email me a copy. So I figured my last port of call is DOL If someone has the latest copy (I know the fee went up 1 Jan) can you please email it to me. I will be eternally grateful Edited to remove email
  22. I meant that even at WC he won't be competing against Banjo as he will be too young :p He will only be in baby puppy still ;) Yay to 2 months long service leave! 4 more years for me ROFL. Silly Jenna! It would be a bit early for her to have pups if she was knocked up anyway wouldn't it?
  23. In another few months anyway He is a baby still ETA: It will be nice not being the first dog in the ring though You have to come on Saturday! If you can't swap shifts just ring up sick
  24. Armando's on The Crescent (opposite Jimmy Deans diner) Mum actually goes there for the works (cut, colour etc) and they do a good job even though they aren't flash and trendy when you walk in. It is best to book if you are having anything major done but for just a cut/wash you can just walk in off the street  The most I have had to wait is 10 mins on the weekend. They do get a lot of school kids though so it might be fun this weekend with school starting soon :D
