You lot have been talking too much Count me in Your parents' pup is cute too Hmm, were you at the shows on the last 2 weekends? Banjo woke me up at 1am this morning and I am fairly sure he has KC too I won't take him to the vet until Friday though if he isn't better or will make an appointment if it gets worse. Wonder how long before my other 2 get it... then all 4 of us can be coughing together. Banjo last had a KC jab 2 years ago. But the only other time we had KC go through our dogs even the recently vaccinated dogs got it with only my old sheltie who had bronchial problems anyway and hadn't been vaccinated in 6+ years not getting it! I won't be at training tonight again. I am still sick And Banjo will no longer be doing the trial at the end of the month anyway. Just need to find some time to do some work with Abbey and Jenna.

Happy birthday Trixie RS, I think my puppy issues stem from the fact that I should have been getting a puppy towards the end of the year and that is no longer happening. However next year will probably see us with both a Kelpie and a Lappy puppy!
-
Lovely photos CC. Zora is so very cute. I am not sure I like this thread any more though Too many people are getting puppies and I'm not I want a puppy now!
-
Not good that you were broken into Ptolomy. But click-treat and big hugs to four legged family
-
Yay for the results Ptolomy And new car sounds cool CC... do we get to see pictures? :D
-
Could be ring shy RS. And it certainly wasn't all of them and even the unenthusiastic still heeled "well". I think I need to find out how many passed now

HTM I figured I could just do left and right side healing at various speeds with dog both facing forward and backward and spins Note: I am not planning on doing more than Starters at this stage They (attempt to) do agility too so aren't stuck on the LHS. Oh, and note: this idea started taking place on Saturday night after watching a comp (had to leave before the Freestyle)... the most I have done atm is see what shorter songs there are... Am thinking of Teddy Bear by Elvis for my Lappy But that is around 1:45 so would need to be shortened. I don't think the next comp is until the end of August... So I might take you up on your offer once I decide whether I really want to do it or not Hmm, just saw your edit... I wonder which dogs (if any) passed on Saturday then!
-
Ness, I will look up the rules for both and then decide. My dogs don't do many tricks though and both love me too much to work away from me And they can heel fairly well (certainly with more enthusiasm than I saw from the dogs on the weekend ) Finding 1m music is even harder than 1:30! Will have to see what music editting programmes I can get ;) The Starters dog on the weekend did 1:33 I think. RubyStar - maybe it will motivate Ruby in her heelwork ;) ETA: Oh and sparkly costumes are easy to find ;) Just go to an opshop
-
See, I figure that the heelwork side is actually not a bad thing for their obedience in that you can talk to them to encourage their enthusiasm. Oh and then toss in a few spins/rh heeling etc and bobs your uncle. I watched a bit after the show on Saturday and the two lowest classes weren't exactly very hard. Although the hard thing is trying to find 1:30 music!

Not sure LR... I started thinking about it the day before I got sick. Am still sick atm so don't know if it is my sick brain talking or whether it is a good way to get letters after their name

Varda is good with puppies If they annoy her too much though she snaps at them, but not in an aggressive way So who has entered the Royal? Or is planning too? I need to figure out my entries... conformation is definite but need to decide if I am doing agility with my own dogs and what classes to enter with the Aussies. Obedience is out as it clashes with my horses. But am currently sick and wondering whether to try Heelwork to Music with Varda and Banjo

So you have sent a short coated dog outside in the middle of winter to sleep... and then proceded to throw water on it? Poor thing was probably freezing let alone worried that it had been seperated from it's pack. You certainly don't sound like a dog lover
-
I wonder why ST - it has even inbedded in my post! It is on public so there shouldn't be a problem... will go check again.
-
Hugs to you and Indy CC! ST, the pups looks lovely I am sure WX won't mind me posting this here This is her guys first attempt at Brace at the show on teh weekend

I have 2 "petrol champions" and I am proud of both of them :D Although in both cases they got all their points at Metro shows! It isn't my fault that they were the only ones of their breed competing at the time. One is now a ruBIG winner and the other is a ruBIG and BIG winner - at a show he had to beat several BIS winning dogs! But both got their titles with 6 point challenges... And the only way we can get to a specialty for either is to fly there :p
-
She is lovely RV... although I am now going to ignore all photos of her for my own sanity
-
Have you decided where you are staying LR? That is the next thing I need to do
-
I can deal with that ST... or at least only raining at night when I am tucked up in bed on those days Am wondering if training will be on tonight? The rain was meant to stop around 2pm but it isn't showing any signs of lightening up!
-
Nope, not horrible at all :D It is lovely, lovely weather Hopefully it does go all week as forcast this time!

Tumbleweed, the person I asked works for the Department of Main Roads and has a lot to do with policy making/those in charge of policy making. She often says she will ask various politicians what the go is if our train is delayed for seemingly no good reason So she is alsways a good person for me to ask anything to do with traffic rules
-
Welcome back Amypie :D
-
OK the answer I got... "There is nothing in current or proposed road traffic legislation about dogs needing to be restrained in cars/vehicles. As far as I'm aware, there is no other legislation in WA that specifically requires dogs to be restrained in or on the back of moving vehicles. The Animal Welfare Act 2002 (s. 19(3)(a))states a person in charge of an animal is defined as being cruel to an animal "if the animal is transported in a way that causes, or is likely to cause, it unnecessary harm?. This suggests to me that, if the act of transporting a dog on the back of a ute, for example, was causing it, or likely to cause it, unnecessary harm, the person in charge of the animal could be charged with an offence of cruelty under the Animal Welfare Act." ETA there is one law relating to dogs on the driver's lap... Regulation 263 of the Road Traffic Code 2000 (3) A driver shall not drive a motor vehicle if a person or an animal is in the driver's lap. 1 Demerit point and an infringement Fine of $100

I didn't think it was illegal either...although have heard it before. Have sent an email to a friend of mine who works in for the government in transport policy so will see what she says/can find out for me
-
Thanks for the birthday wishes... for some reason DOL didn't want to work for me on Friday and I was busy yesterday and today Well done on everyone's successes!

Well the World Record holder will be doing the Masterclass on the Saturday. So there is hope there ROFL. We got Supatickets - it is cheaper than getting tickets for more than one day and gets you access to everything. Actually being in NSW there will probably be a lot of the top horse/rider combinations The campdraft comp has lots of top riders too and the jumping was good last year
