Poo-Fong... that is Miss Fluffy Knickers Apparently that is what Lauren's husband wanted to call her ;) I don't blame you and Jerry for not hanging around. Was very chilly for us let alone thin skinned whippies! Are you showing next weekend? I haven't seen Jerry in ages! Re score: Maybe ask on the Canine Fundraisers FB page? Thanks everyone for your offers of help :) We had a couple of friends with larger gooseneck trailers to help with the ponies if required, and the dogs would have fit in our cars :D I was glad we were home if needed but even more glad we weren't needed to evacuate!

I have heard nothing more about the Brigadoon fire. Am home and while the winds are very bad we can hardly see any smoke so hopefully they have the fire under control now. FESA still haven't updated...
-
FESA has updated to Watch and Act in an area about 5km from us. Neighbours say wind is blowing slightly away but we are still 45 min from home
-
MG, you are probably getting smoke from the Bindoon and Chittering fires. Plus there is apparently a fire in Brigadoon today too. No updates for the Wooroloo fire on FESA or on the horse forum where you tend to get more up to date information LOL
-
Nope no-one is home... thinking of leaving work now though... ETA: Am leaving work... would prefer to overreact.
-
OK, I am now stressing big time as there is a fire within 10km of our place and the winds are blowing towards us It is times like these I hate working so far from home!
-
Lulu and Straus both looked great :) I missed Straus not picking up his feet when asked though

Well this last weekend was certainly memorable! I found it very very hard to get out of bed this morning though Friday night was hot and still and we got home just after 1.30am thanks to Anikka's Minor in Group win. Saturday night was lovely weatherwise and we were happy when Anikka missed out on Minor IG so we could go home early... except that Arlo then won State Bred in Group Yay... except we were in the ring at 12.30am and again was home after 1.30am (dream run home... still don't quite know how I did it in 45 mins without speeding! The traffic lights were very nice to me though :D ) Then Sunday night we had Puppy of the Year and the wind was absolutely freezing! Miss Anikka was the youngest entrant for Group 5 by about a month... and she not only took out Group 5 Junior Puppy of the Year but got a better overall score than the senior winner Although I did learn that skirt suit + wind + hypo puppy = game of tug on skirt while running around the ring The little princess herself...

Pixie_meg, Donny is lovely :) KatieP, Tempe is so cute! Allerzeit, Nova is certainly a big puppy! Well Miss Anikka had a great start to her Minor career. At 6 months and a couple of days at her first show in Minor she took out a 10 point BOB and followed it up with Minor in Group. The next night she was ruBOB (again out of 5 dogs) :) Then last night as the youngest entrant from Group 5 she won WA Group 5 Junior Puppy of the Year and scored higher than the Senior Puppy winner Although I have now learnt that Anikka + skirt suit + windy weather is not a good mix as apparently a blowing skirt = tug toy Looking all sweet and innocent...

Happy birthday Bondi

Last night was ok until you started running around LOL It was overcast yesterday too so don't know if that will help today :p Canine is usually cooler too in my experience although occasionally it is hotter...

Most of us have cars bought with crate space in mind...
-
Exciting about the car MG :) Seems that a few people I know are getting new cars at the moment! Emery, hopefully your husband gets a longer reprieve from work :) I don't envy any WAers who are going to agility tonight! Yesterday at the show was terrible... 32 degrees at 10pm and not a hint of a breeze The dogs all coped ok but as soon as you ran around as a handler you took ages to cool down again and showing is a lot less intense than agility! On a good note though Miss Anikka took out Minor in Group at her first show in Minor. She also beat all the old dogs to take out Best of Breed! I did tell her owner that I couldn't show her any more since she beat "my" dog (Arlo, who we bred) but she is so much fun that didn't last long Although tonight I might handle Arlo for BOB and let someone else take Anikka if they both get through ;)

Dyzney, interesting you mentioned sunnies. If it is a day show would judges really get offended if you wear sunnies? Health recommendations state you should wear sunglasses when outdoors. I know that the pterygium I have in my eye plays up if it gets too much sum (and was probably caused by sun in the first place) and it is very painful when it has flared up! So I prefer to wear sunnies when I can :)
-
I wear colours that don't clash with the dogs. Since most of my dogs are black that means I wear anything but black and dark navy blue. We also have a couple of red dogs and when I show them I have to avoid red based colours  I usually stick with blues of various shades, but also have a light green and a purple suit and sometimes where cream coloured pants. So I mix it up with bright colours and more sedate colours :D I figure the judge should be watching the dog ;)
-
I don't bother with makeup if the weather is hot and humid. I do at the bigger shows and when I know I am not going to end up melting. I usually wear slacks and a shirt with or without jacket depending on temperature. I have a few skirt suits but tend to only wear them at the bigger shows. In fact the only time I wear a skirt is at a show!

Luckily I don't get wasps or bees around the paddle pool :) The problem with delaying on the night is that you are still getting there early enough for the initial start time so the dogs are still hanging around in the heat. I was sure that they would have organised something though.
-
My guys had their paddle pool topped up with clean, fresh water before I left today :) I am curious... does anyone know if the agility mob have done anything to compensate for the insane temps at the trial this weekend? As said the show start time has been delayed by an hour and I would think agility would be even worse in this heat!

Brilliant news I wasn't looking forward to POY at 6.30pm

Well I often have my radio on 720 as it is the only station I can get half-decent reception on part of my drive. Yay, talk back radio with REALLY old and mostly crap songs ROFL. Saying that some of the interviews they do are fairly interesting :) I hate cricket though so when that is on I just go for silence In dog news... um, I need to wash Booty tonight as the poor man is going to have his manhood removed tomorrow!
-
Hopefully I can get to training soon so I can be an agility person again - doesn't look like it will be next week though since it is still meant to be up near 40! Faytiges, I am currently sitting at work wondering whether to put a cardigan on or not But that is not coz I am tough :D It is kept around 20C here! I don't mind working (or reading DOL at work...) on the hot days :p
-
I knew it was at Cloverdale, really I did Brilliant, it is nice that those pesky obedience and agility people aren't using our perfect show lawn anymore making us take the secondary option of under cover ;)
-
I am meant to have a riding lesson on Thursday 5pm Then dog shows Friday, Sat and Sun night! I think my dogs will be going down to the lake with me a few times though. ETA: I don't have aircon AP, do you know if the bottom oval is available to agility yet? I do not want to be showing under cover on a 42C day! Little Miss Jive has had her name for a year now
-
Call name is Jive ;)

Two of the black/tan pups are boys so definitely not getting one of them! I have no idea which is the girl in the photos.
