  1. Congratulations again :) She is lovely :)
  2. The WA dogs are certainly in the wars at the moment! Hopefully they will all be recovered soon :) In more Lappy news... we are taking over the world Not really, but another of the young Lappies, Taavi, owned by a first time show person took out Minor in Group on the weekend (and nearly beat Arlo for DCC and BOB) Which means that after 4 shows we already have 2 Lappies qualified for next year's Puppy of the Year contest :D
  3. Congratulations It is the best feeling when you manage to title your first dog :) But this thread is seriously lacking something... where are the photos??? :D
  4. I don't get why the vets clip either. I always tell them not to because they are show dogs and they never have a problem. In fact the only dog I have had who they had trouble with was the one they clipped She ended up with bald patches on both front legs and her neck Luckily it was my bed warmer Kelpie
  5. The two of our group who are driving over were looking at doing the Spitz show in SA on the way :) They were also looking at doing the weekend before in SA but I think they have decided it is too expensive to stay in Adelaide for the week  Only thing they aren't sure about is if there would be people willing to handle if they need extra hands as they have a boy and 2 girls and only one handler...
  6. So will we be ready to travel home on the Tuesday or still recovering?? We will be getting in on Friday evening and have shopping in Melbourne planned for the Saturday (and meeting my second cousin all going well - she is due to arrive the week before us!):D Luckily we have sourced great accommodation at a farmstay that has two fully enclosed back yards so the dogs will be safe while we shop :) We will probably look at organising our own food to take. It isn't that hard to chuck together a quick cold meats and salad spread for lunch  I can't wait to see the programme :) Although it feels weird to be going over and the only dog I am taking is my neuter girl  I do have 3 others that I am showing though :p
  7. Have fun stewarding Emery :) I am sure you will be fine ;) Who is showing tomorrow night?
  8. Happy birthday OsoSwift :) I hope you are being completely spoilt ;)
  9. Thanks guys :) I will definitely add gumboots to my packing list Beth, I had already decided I wasn't going to wear a skirt to show in Melbourne in June... unless I get some really thick stockings to go underneath The last time we showed in Melbourne was July but it was at the Showgrounds :)
  10. It involves exactly the same thing for humans as it does for dogs  You don't even have to get undressed ;) MG, that is one of the reasons why I changed to Bowen for Kinta. She didn't like accupunture but with the Bowen if she needs to have a wander coz Laura just got a really ouchy spot she is allowed to then Laura does some more when she comes back (and does one of the other dogs in the meantime  ) Oh, and Banjo is thinking about learning Bowen... he likes jumping up on the table when Laura is treating me
  11. Woohoo yay for Chica! I would pronounce it as Ptolomy plans too. Ness, I learnt about new addition nearly two weeks ago when Ms Ptolomy couldn't resist saying at a show "I have a bg surprise but I am not telling anyone" I didn't pester for details though after the gist of the surprise was revealed less than 30 secs after that statement :p
  12. Not good that there are several dogs not doing so well... hopefully they are all getting it out of their system and will be vet bill free for the rest of the year Just think Emery... a few more years and you will have gotten rid of them all  Can you tell I am not a fan of kids... and them going back to school?
  13. ST, you would think so, but obviously they didn't read that part  Sashagirl, how big a dog? How old? I could ask Mum how much Boots cost but I would assume at least $300. He did get pre-bloods done and I think she got them to give fluids? ETA: Boots is around 20kg
  14. Poor Booty ended up at the vet this morning He was sterilised just before Australia Day and was going well until Monday when he started looking a tad uncomfortable and then yesterday morning he ate his breakfast lying down Mum rang and booked him into the vet and got told off because he hadn't been wearing an Elizabethan collar - except that he didn't lick at all until Sunday (4 days after being sterilised) and even now doesn't lick very often. Anyway turns out the problem isn't caused by licking anyway but he has some infection going on in his scrotum. He was given an antibiotic injection, has a cream that needs to be rubbed on every day and I am guessing tablets too. Comment from the vet was apparently "he is only a young dog"... um, he is a 9yo Apparently she was shocked when Mum pointed that out :p
  15. Thanks KG :) Slippery in the actually rings? Or just around the edges? We are going in June so I am assuming there is a good chance it will be wet  ETA: Thanks Sway :) Do you always have the same groups in the same ring?
  16. BB, Fleur certainly looks like she can move! She looks lovely.
  17. Since we are going over to Melbourne in June I am curious about what KCC park is like. The last time I went the shows I entered were at the Showgrounds. I am assuming there are grassed outside rings as well as under cover (fully enclosed?) rings. What is the ground like outside and the surface like inside? Is there lots of space ringside to set up? How big are the rings - are they smaller inside or about the same? Anything we should watch out for or be aware of when we are there?
  18. Associate member in WA can only own an Associate registered dog! Is it really that different in other states?
  19. Is there any way to get access to the schedules if you are a member of another State? I couldn't find them on the website We will be travelling East to compete in a few months and while I know the schedules for those particular shows aren't available yet I wouldn't mind having a look at what shows there are :)
  20. Another vote for photos :) I would have thought 7.5kg would have been small for a nearly 8 week old Bullmastiff. And not aimed at the OP, but isn't it now against the law in Vic for pups to go to their new homes without being microchipped and vaccinated first, regardless of what the new owner wants?
  21. Mine usually get told that they shouldn't have laid down in my path without keeping an eye on what I am doing  They have caused me more damage tripping over them than I have caused them from accidently stepping on them or kicking them ;) But yes I do tend to make sure that they are all right before treating my own injuries :)
  22. Showdog, do you know if Ziggy is ACES accredited? We use her too but last time I went she wasn't accredited with them but that was a few years ago now. Just reading a stud contract from a Vic breeder and they state that the ophthalmologist is to be ACES certified although I am sure they would accept the most used Ophthalmologist in WA if she isn't
  23. You don't have to rub in that you got Jerry cuddles... I feel left out now Should have gone over for a walk but too busy freezing! At least you will only miss 1 show... the next show after that isn't for another 3 weeks :D Unless there is a country show in there or something?
