  1. I am worn out just watching Jive and Anikka play! Anikka is nearly 9 months old and is staying with us for her first season... Jive slept very well last night and I am hoping they have at least a few breaks during the day today ROFL So who is competing at State Agility this weekend? Banjo and the Aussies are in with jive coming as cheer leader :D
  2. Osku is lovely - I look forward to seeing him grow! Well done on everyones great results :) I finally have a semi-good stacked photo of my new Rising Star :D Meet my little Kelpie Jive - otherwise known as Wingdari Drovers Dancer :) And Miss Anikka is growing up nicely for her owner :) We even managed a Best in Group at an Open show yesterday (and Minor in Group both am and pm shows)... and that was with her feeling poorly as she started her first season yesterday! She also won rBOB today from an entry of 9 Lappies :) And Mr Taavi took out BOB at the first Open show yesterday... beating Anikka and todays BOB winner LOL So sharing it around the owners :) I love having dogs to play with that I don't have to look after LOL
  3. We have 6 on the property - but it is 100 acres with 2 houses :D I have 3 Kelpies (10yo, 4yo and 12 week old) and a Finnish Lapphund (6yo) and my parents have 2 Lappies (11yo and 9yo) and are considering getting another Lappy later in the year :)
  4. If it for when he is being walked why not just get a nice silver or gold chain? The quality of the black chain ones is no where near as good IMO and if I didn't want it to blend into a black dog for the show ring I wouldn't even consider them.
  5. I gave up on black check chains as the black does chip off as said... I got one of the show lead makers to make me a black slip collar in the length I wanted so I can attached whatever lead I want to it :)
  6. Not too long and you can have a cuddle (and be eaten alive) by Jive :D
  7. Oh yeah, forgot about her. I didn't know that she actually travels to compete though :) THinking about it I ahve seen her around at the (very few) agility trials I have done recently either... Most herding comps are non-ANKC particularly if they go for more than one day and aren't fairly close to Perth :p
  8. Who else were you talking about then RS?? She is the only one I know who currently does non-ANKC herding plus ANKC performance sports :) Oh, and LR I just realised I keep ignoring your comments about puppy cuddles... they would be much more cuddly than my terror is at the moment! Although 5-10 weeks are the best age :D On a positive note I think I have finally got stand through to Jive! I have never had a dog who would prefer to sit or drop and look at you before
  9. Working dog breeders don't like the ANKC's insistence on type over ability. There are dog breeds (which breed true) which aren't acknowledged by the ANKC. They are the main reasons people aren't ANKC registered but have dogs registered with another organisation :) A lot of people who breed don't know much about the ANKC since they aren't into "breeding pedigree dogs". They don't think the cost of registration is worthwhile for most people... But that is just their excuse not to pay the fees or in a lot of cases health test
  10. Chocolate dogs are just as hard to see. I don't even think the dog was moving - just lying down sleeping and didn't move when I came near Which makes me think it was Kinta since she has never seen the need to move out of the way of a human when she is lying down... although come to think of it Banjo isn't realy that much better
  11. Who even knows if we're all talking about the same person Marianne Rogers is the only agility person I know who competes at a high level of non-ANKC herding now :) And her dogs also have tracking titles I just found out (gotta love Google). And she is definitely the only one who does herding and DWD :) Sam Weaver used to do agility but now I think only does herding since moving to the country.
  12. I wouldn't show a dog who in my opinion should be DQed. As said there are other ways to lobby for changes to the standard.
  13. Doesn't her dogs have an obedience title or two though RS? Can't honestly remember though LOL. It is interesting to read what everyone would choose in terms of transport :) Weasels, your avatar made me I made the mistake of attempting to walk to my bed in the dark the other night after forgetting to put the light closest to the bed on before turning the other one off... I nearly face planted it after tripping over a Kelpie I didn't see in the dark! I don't even know if it was Banjo or Kinta :p Ptolomy, lots of easy whelping and healthy puppy vibes going your way in another weeks time :)
  14. The cabana lives in the footwell of the back seats lol
  15. OK since everyone is being so quiet on here I thought I would start a discussion What would you do in following situation... I need to transport 3 dogs to a show on the weekend, two adults who usually sit on the back seat and a puppy who at the moment travels in a crate (which is currently set up on the back seat ) Car is a 4WD but I also need to take 2 other crates and the rest of the showing gear with me. The drive takes just under an hour. Options are: 1) Keep crate on back seat and try and set up the very back so the adult dogs can sit there on top of the other crates and gear. 2) See if crate for puppy can fit into the back on top of the other crates and have adult dogs on the back seat - in which case the pup won't be visible to the human passengers 3) As for 2 but have the back seats folded down - which could cause a problem with securing gear. 3) Use dog trailer and put adult dogs in there 4) Use dog trailer and put crates and other gear in there with the dogs riding in the car 5) Have all three dogs on the back seat with puppy out of the crate 6) Have adult dogs on the back seat and puppy on the front seat in the passengers lap  So, which would you choose and why? It wouldn't have been an issue except Banjo is now coming down as well to do some jumping training
  16. The only other slightly close option is I think Perth Training & Obedience Dog Club who train on Wednesday nights at Vic Park :) Also I think the RSPCA does classes in Malaga although I don't know when or the quality of their instructors from a competition point of view.
  17. I am fairly sure Gina trains at Northern Suburbs... maybe even see if she can fit you in for private lessons :) While it is more expensive you will get so much more out of it than a club environment :)
  18. I haven't commented on anything to do with the Electronic table on any of the forums it has been discussed but I had to reply to the below comment... The big difference is that if it had been known about 2 years ago some of the other States may have gotten one as well to try out. WA is looking at getting one but unfortunately since it is something that is purchased overseas at this stage it is looking like it won't arrive before the Nationals. Thankfully though it has been announced before the Nationals and people can do something to desensitise their dogs to the noise even if they can't actually get access to the real thing. Interesting to read that a couple of dogs have had real problems with the table that require a lot of desensitisation, everything I read before this said that no dogs had any problems after they had been on the table once. The biggest issue I can see with the table is that it is usually in novice courses which means that it is used by dogs who aren't necessarily as well trained or exposed to as many things yet :) Actually I can't remember the last time I did a table in anything but a novice course LOL. So hopefully the word gets out to everyone so they have a chance of training for it :)
  19. Feebeez, Coco is lovely! Anyone feeling puppy clucky and wants a cure? We have entered the eating everything (including me...) stage So far we have lost one charger cord (which was charging my phone at the time and she barely had time to even grab it! And unfortunately she is the first puppy to have decided that the old rocking horse was edible Course Mum came and told me when I was clipping a horse that she had started chewing it, I asked if she had moved it and was told no but she would go and do so soon... Fast forward to me finishing clipping the horse and we now have a very nice deglove of a hind leg. I removed said rocking pony from said puppy's reach!
  20. Routine is... try to sleep as long as possible, get puppy from crate and carry her outside as she still can't make the distance from bedroom to back yard after holding on all night :p Let her eat the adult dogs while I feed the horses. Feed her while I get ready for work. Drop her off at parents since their dogs and yard are better to leave her with unsupervised. Get home to a very excited puppy. Do some training and playing and let her sleep while we eat dinner. Take her back to mine where she can eat the adult dogs. Give them proper dinner and if she has a nap I go onto the computer :p Play with puppy. Attempt to get her to toilet before going to bed. Just add quite a few go out and attempt to get puppy to go to the toilet in there too - some which are successful and some which are not :D 4 days away from work will be nice!
  21. Wow, you have to provide certificates in WA for all titles (including Grands) or go in and go through the catalogues to show proof.
  22. Thanks Tassie :) She loves her big protector although I think he sometimes wonders why she is jumping on his head while he is trying to sleep LOL. I want to know what Amypie and Rubystar are up to since they are rarely in here at the moment!
  23. Rubystar does agility and obedience with her Lab girls :) And Mason_Gibbs does obedience with her Lab boy :) We have some very good working lines Labradors in both the agility, obedience (and retrieving) rings in WA as well :) However they seem to be very full on in comparison to the show lines dogs from an observers prespective :)
  24. Weehee! Happy start to the day as Jive now has a rego number so she can do the May shows Guess I better teach her to walk on lead now... :p
