  1. On the 19th of March a planning permit application was lodged with the Moorabool Shire(which is 30 mins from Ballarat, Vic) for a porposed puppy farm which is looking at having 85 bitches and 15 stud dogs and want to breed 'designer dogs' They are wanting to have Cavalier king charles spaniels, cocker spaniels, toy poodles, beagles and westies i think from memory... I have already written a letter to the local Mayor Pat Toohey which i will send tomorrow. I think it is absolutley disgusting and a petition has already been started in the local area so fingers crossed it doesn't go ahead. People have only just heard about it this week and have only until the 5th of April to lodge any objections, which doesn't give people much time due to the Easter public holidays!! A puppy farm at Beremboke was only just recently shut down a few months ago and already another scumbag is trying to take over and start a new one. As someone who does dog rescue, i can only wonder who will be picking up the unwanted dogs when they are no longer profitable to the puppy farm?? As if rescue needs anymore work and the pounds around the area like everywhere else already contain too many animals and not enough potential homes, without this type of mass production. Not sure if people phoning the council offices or emailing about the issue of puppy farms would help in anyway, but contact details for the Moorabool Shire are below if anyone wants to??? You can email Council via this email address: [email protected] Telephone: (03) 5366 7100 Facsimile: (03) 5368 1757
  2. Fine needle aspiration was done and showed that it was definately the lymph node and that there was a small increase in white blood cells and lymphoblasts and that it was showing signs of still growing but vet said this wasn't enough to indicate anything bad such as lymphoma but also didn't really indicate an infection with no pus etc found in the sample. Sample was sent outside the clinic to be checked. Will see what the vet says when we go back.. Thanks for the replys!
  3. Hi Was just after a little advice about my 10mth old Great Dane x Floyd. He is almost completely white and is deaf and has very limited vision. Anyway on Christmas eve when i bathed him i noticed a huge lump under his jaw bone. A bit bigger than a golf ball. Took him to the vet and vet thought it might be infection so put him on antibiotics and did needle biopsy. Antibiotics brought it down in size somewhat and biopsy showed not much. Vet advised to wait a week and put hot compreses on lump as he believed it was a grass seed/infection and would come to a head. Lump got a bit softer and vet advised to leave it and see what happens. Lump remained unchanged from then on but have just noticed that it is now back to its original size (larger than golf ball). Floyd is fine in himself, not off his food and hasn't lost weight or shown any signs of illness. The lump is rock hard and not attached to the bone and is under the skin. It is not painfull at all or warm to the touch. Anyone have any ideas on what it might be ????? This may not be related but he has also recently come out in a fair amount of new pigmentation under his coat. Only noticed it when he had a bath and it showed up through his wet coat.?? Any advice greatly appreciated. We will be going back to the vet again anyway but just thought someone may have had a similar experience... Cheers Lisa
