PeiLuvR - possibly attending!!! With Sarge and Violet
-
Why is that Shmoo? I'm going to follow this up, and really hope he does get treatment and care that he deserves.

Thanks everybody! I have been in contact with some of The Staffordshire Club Of Vic Rescue people. I was just so worried about him so posted here first. Hopefully one of the ladies in the Keysborough area can get in contact with the people! I was concerned about the 'rescued two days ago part' but then realised he is their dog, born 22/5/11, removed from the trap two days ago.. i think! I am not near Hampton Park, otherwise i would drive all the way there and get him myself, if the people make contact and are willing to surrender. I'm horrified that this dog has been in its condition and pain for two days and quite possibly needs the leg removed! Just horrible.

I've just seen this Staffy listed! Ad ID 1003353728 I'm hoping Staffy Rescue or anyone who can help, are alerted to this - located Hampton Park Vic R.J is a pure bred red staffy who is just a year old. We rescued R.J only two days ago in the condition he is in now, where he has a damage nerve from having his foot caught in a rabbit trap and cannot move his front left foot. R.J may require a foot amputation which we sadly just cannot afford. He has been dragging his damaged foot, resulting in carpet burn and bruising. Therefore requires the surgery sooner than later. If anyone can offer R.J a home, where they can afford his medical charges. He’s a lovely dog, and could really do with the help. He is up to date with his vaccinations and is microchipped aswell. He is not desexed. Unfortunately there is no phone number.

What's Wrong About Giving Dogs Human Names?
PeiLuvR replied to W Sibs's topic in General Dog Discussion
I don't have a problem with human names for Dogs :) But they can be quite funny when saying them out loud. Especially when i'm calling Mitchell and Rebecca, or Martin and Colin to get them in the hydrobath, and saying good boy Colin lol  I much prefer human type names than the common Bella or Mia. Martin gets me everytime, he is a tea cup sized choc poodle! I've even had a corgi named Steve and i wasn't sure if it was the dogs name or the owner = the dog was STEVE haha -
Today, on this day, 12 months ago - It was the worst day, so painful and frightening. I was scared and praying for a miracle. It has been a whole year without her A whole year without my baby girl, my beautiful little Milla. Its still very hard, she was my heart dog, my black dog, my strength, my best friend. I will cherish her memory forever and talk of her often. May Millie be watching and waiting for me in many years to come.. Love to my precious precious girl xxxxxxx

I always worry with wings.. Mainly because i had a dog that swallowed/gulped a whole wing without chewing and scared the hell out of me! Now i always smash (with a tenderizer) chicken necks and drummetts before giving them. I didn't know u could buy frozen kangaroo tails ! :S

Just Heard A Dangerous Dog Ad On The Radio
PeiLuvR replied to Kirty's topic in General Dog Discussion
The advertisements are a worry. I do understand the need for a 'hotline' in case there is in fact a growly dog of any breed that could be lurking or roaming around, possibly being a threat or in attack mode.... (most likely lost and frightened) But this 'hotline' creates hysteria amongst those who think every dog (that isn't a small fluffy thing) is a dangerous threatening looking dog... I'm annoyed at people pointing the finger and mistaking one dog breed for another. Pit bulls, staffys, lab x's etc. The breed is NOT the problem. Just yesterday my Shar Pei was called a 'red nose' !!! and people were looking at me concerned because he had a muzzle on. For those who cared to listen i told them he is a SHAR PEI and he has fear aggression. The others took off with their kids and dogs and looked at me in disgust! UNEDUCATED ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH. I think i'd like to call the hotline number and say i've been attacked by a vicious little thing (Chi, Malt etc) and see if they cum running to my rescue :S -
Who's going to the meeting tonight/tomorrow night? Wyndham Council 8pm. I'm very worried about the American staffys that i know, which have no proof of breed or purebreed papers to rely on. Whether purchased from Joe Blow down the road, or the trading post/byb or the hundreds of rescued American Staffys all around Wyndham and geelong etc, how can this possibly end well? I understand the need to Recognize Pitbulls and hav them on file but are dogs with mistaken identity going to be euthanased willy nilly? Are local Vets really going to take responsibility for naming a dog as a suspected 'restricted breed' ? So many questions. I do not own an Amstaff but i will be waiting to hear how the meeting goes.

I Have A Headache From Researching Dog Food!
PeiLuvR replied to Nadine83's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hi Nadine83 Yes u are right, there are A LOT of different foods on the market ! I guess u need to make a decision regarding what food would be right for ur breed of dog.. and the ingredients in which would be good to feed ur growing retriever puppy  U could look at feeding a medium to large breed puppy food, high in protein and calcium for a pup to develop strong and healthy bones. I'd stay away from some of the cheaper brands - IMO supermarket brands are like Take away food, not too great for u! If the breeder has only been feeding Pedigree then i would try mixing that with another dry food, sumthing a little more 'premium' such as Advance Turkey puppy or Advance Puppy growth chicken. I think Canidae and Artemis are american brands. I have heard both of these are good but haven't fed them before. EaglePack and Holistic Select are also quite good foods and have a really good variety. For sensitive tummys i like Nutro chicken and rice. Plain but really great for easy eating (fussy eaters) and i have had results with a nice shiny coat. For sensitive skin - I stay away from beef/red meat products and stick with chicken or fish based dry foods. It can also be difficult as sum foods may seem expensive, but in the long run much better for your dog. -
I truly miss the Adventures of Rocco (Rip) and Ralph. Those two pooches were my favourite Dol dogs. Fantastic blog and pics Serenah :p Can't wait for Ralphs book release!! New favourite = SID !!!!
