because its not a nice method to use!!!!plus if your dog is doin the business when you are at work then you come home and punish them its not goin to be affective because they dont know what your saying and dont remember that they did a poop like four hours ago!!!!!!!!

just wondering if many groomers have fave breeds they like to wash or clip more than others.....i have individual fave dogs but the breed i like doin the most is probably german shepards...they just come up so fluffy and wonderful wen washed...oh and staffys come up sooooo shiney!!!!!and i like clipping cocker spaniels only cos all the ones i have done so far have been so nice and friendly EVEN first time clips!!! :p ;)

i agree with vanessa...this is a puppy we are talking about...everytime it does something wrong you cant decide to get rid of it, dogs are for life!!!its just like saying my three year old keeps drawing on the walls gee i might have to rehome them!?!?!?!sorry to be so blunt but its just a matter of learning to deal with the good and the bad...in the end the good will most definately out weight the bad its just a matter of training really and its not as hard as people think, every inter action you have with your puppy is a learning experience for them, you just have to know the right way to approch training and i think that everyone has given you great advise so good luck!!!

gday and welcome....i really dont have anything more to add i think everyone has told you what is best!!my newset baby is a beautiful pure breed pug, hes 14 weeks and i cant wait to train him!!!tell your daughter good luck with training...ITS HEAPS of fun for you and the dog!!!!!is she still considering different breeds or is her heart set on a corgi???they are great little dogs!!!! ETA just noticed you said she is also interested in the long hair dogs (BC and collies)....has she seen an australian shepard...they are one my want list!!!!alsooo luv collies and shelties...mum has a border collie and me and him dont get along very well (he just wont listen to me...but i dont blame him) so im not a fan of BC but they are good dogs for training work!!!

ive been coming across alot of matted dogs lately, im getting sick of it because you book your day up with like ten+ dogs then you get to a house and the dog has inch thick mats in its fur, how hard is it for the owners to tell you when they are booking so you can put in the required time to fix it!!!!!i guess they either have no idea how bad it is or feel guilty about how bad they have let it get!!!!

A Question For Those With Large Double Coated Breeds
Nevafollo replied to Veanna's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
i got a chamois when i bought the buisness, it came with the package you get, and they do soak up a fair ammount of water but the wetter they got the less affective they were, dats why i got a sports towel, becos even when they are wet they manage to continually soak up the same ammount of water, just wringe it out and go again. your right in the fact that they are big dollars, but their worth it, i mean mine is all shaggy now but still goes and goes and goes!! -
A Question For Those With Large Double Coated Breeds
Nevafollo replied to Veanna's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
hey im a mobile groomer, and this might sound like a strange suggestion, but I use a sports towel to dry of any excess water before actually using a dryer, (you know, the ones that are made to soak up sweat which you can get from any sports store.) they are usually bout $30 and i have found that they soak up so much water to start with that it really makes drying quicker, it was taking anything from 20-25 mins to dry the double coated dogs (maybe even longer depending on the dog) and with the use of the sports towel it brings it down to 10-15 mins!!!!and with dogs like staffys who have the short coats and tend not to like the dryer u can practically dry them with just the sports towel....oh and they last for ever like a year plus and thats washing 10+ dogs a day 5 days a week!!!!!anyway just alittle tip i thought you might be able to use!!!!
